Chapter 39 YOU
Chapter 39 YOU
SOFIA'S POV
I park my car feeling my grip tighten on the steering wheel. The sharp pain in my chest keeps hitting me randomly.
I take a few sips of warm water from my water bottle before getting out. I grab my bag from the back seat before walking towards the campus building. Just two more weeks and I'm deserving of that Maldives vacation.
"Sofia ! Just the girl I'm looking for,"Luca says jogging towards me.
Where is Mila? I've barely been around him without her around.
"Is Mila okay?"
"Yeah she's in the library,"
"Mila? Library? See the error in the sentence?"
He chuckles.
"She's avoiding me. I asked her to move in with me,"
"Hey! stop trying to steal my roommate. I had her first,"
He laughs, this time at the face I'm making.
"I figured. But ummm I wanted to ask you if you've seen Nova? She called a couple of times but my phone was off," he says.
Did something go wrong?
"No. I thought she was meeting up with....her fiancé,"
"Yeah, it's all over tabloids. Uhh– shouldn't have said that. So I'm gonna run away now,"
He sprints off making me chuckle.
Seriously I'm fine with it.
I know where her heart is and I trust her.
I walk to my class counting my steps to distract me from the curious stares and murmurs.
The class is half full which means I'm late. Luckily the professor walks when I'm settled.
"The finals are coming up people and I need you to understand how important your grades are. Some of you are on scholarships and good grades mean alot on that transcript. You didn't hear this from me but not only will they be looking at your talent but also your grades. So focus," Mr Lorenzo says setting up his laptop for presentation.
"Each of you will take turns to teach us a little about you've learnt this semester. You don't leave my class until you have something. I have all day people," he continues before the room is filled with murmurs.
He calls out by the spining wheel and a student goes down to where he is selecting a topic and starts.
This is way more fun that listening to him teach.
The door swings open drawing attention.
"Miss Castiello, i understand your excitement to finish college but this is a lecture room,"
She perks her head up as if searching for someone and when her eyes land on mine she starts walking up towards me, ignoring the Professor's words.
Everyone's eyes follow her keenly waiting to see what she does.
Ofcourse they are.
"Sofia, I really need to talk to you," she says leaning in so only i can hear.
Her cologne fills my nostrils and it's intoxicating.
"Uh I'm in the middle of a lecture Nova, and everyone's looking at us,"
"You come with me or I sit right here on this floor next to you the whole time," she says seriously.
I roll my eyes and she drops her bag on the floor, adjusting her tracksuit.
"Okay fine!" I whisper yell packing my things quickly.
The last thing I want is her embarrassing herself for me.
"I'm sorry sir, i have a medical emergency," I say and he nods in understanding. But I feel guilty.
I do have a medical emergency but this isn't how I want to lie about it.
Once we're in the hallway she grabs my hand abruptly.
I'm about to comment on it when she leads me to the girls locker room.
"Your hurting my hand," I say and she lets go immediately.
"I'm sorry,"
"What is really going on?"
"I had a panic attack and all I could think of is you. I called Luca. I called Paolo. I even called my cousin. None of it helped."
She looks away.
"Then I thought about you."
"Nova..."
"And suddenly I could breathe."
"You took me out of class to tell me that?"
"No. I did it to do this,"
She cups my face pulling it to her before crashing her lips on mine. Its pathetic how she just kisses me and my knees buckle.
My hands fall to her sides for support feeling the kiss deepen a little.
I don't think she's kissed me like that before. When we pull apart her chest is already rising and falling unevenly.
Definitely not how I imagined gasping for air.
"So you just missed me and took me out of a three hour lecture to kiss me?"
She chews on her bottom lip.
"I didn't think about that part,"
"Nova fucking Castiello everyone,"
Claps echo the empty locker room.
"I agree. That's her for you,"
We both move away from each other abruptly. I thought we were completely alone.
"You know I was starting to think that she was the easy one Nova. Turns out you're the easy one," Delia says holding up her phone. Was she recording us?
"What the fuck, Delia! You're actually sicker than I thought,"
"You talk a lot for a person on the wrong Nova. I just recorded for future reference. I'll see you on the court Castiello,"
She walks past us to the exit with a huge grin on her face.
"I do agree with her on the easy part. Get a grip on yourself Castiello," I tease and she chuckles.
When a person chooses to make your life their focus, then you might as well find humor in it.
"She has a video of us, Tinks. If she–"
"Then you get to be finally free. I'm the one your father will come after not you,"
Her jaw clenches.
"And that's what scares me. You shouldn't have to be on the receiving end for my choices,"
"I'm just girl who loves a girl, Nova. I can handle it,"
Her eyebrows raise suddenly.
"You love me?"
I scoff, feeling my cheeks burn.
"No. I said loves a girl. Could be any girl.."
She laughs opening the door for me.
"I know what I heard Tinks," she teases.
I'm not ashamed of her. I don't care about her not doing relationships, because it wasn't some commitment issue. It wasn't a choice for her to make.
"I've been thinking. I don't have plans after the final season so I was hoping you'd could share your room with me in Maldives...or I could just get one by myself,"
Her hand feels sweaty in mine.
Is she nervous?
"I mean thats a good idea..Given that Mila got me a ticket hoping I'd be going with you," I say and watch her face grow red.
She should really blush more often.
I feel the sharp stinging pain again and my had presses on it automatically.
"Are you okay? Did you take your meds today? Bring your bag, I'll carry it,"
"Nova I'm fine," I say but she's already reaching for my bad. Her free hand rests on my forehead while biting her lower lip.
"No you're not."
Her eyes narrowed.
"Your hands are shaking, Sofia."
"They're always shaking."
"Stop doing that."
"Doing what?"
"Acting like things don't hurt."
I press my lips together nodding.
"Let's get something to eat, I'm a little hungry," she suggests and I take her up on it. Eating to take medication is different from actually eating to enjoy food.
"I like our outfit too. Compliments mine,"
She says but it's moments like this i remember how attractive she is.
