Chapter 88 Silver Light Rising

Chapter 88 Silver Light Rising
I was dying. I knew this with absolute certainty. The wound in my chest is too severe. The blood loss is too great. The darkness is too close.

I felt Lycian’s agony. I felt him pouring everything into me. His life force. His wolf. His soul. Trying to keep me tethered. Trying to keep me here.

Let go, I thought weakly. Save yourself. Don’t die with me.

Never. We’re bonded. We’re mated. We die together or not at all. His presence wrapped around mine. Fierce. Absolute. I’m not losing you. Fight. Please fight.

But I had nothing left to fight with. Nothing left to give. Just fading consciousness and the weight of too many losses.

My mother died to save my father. Gone before I could really know her.

Elena died to save me. My sister sacrificed herself without hesitation.

And soon me, I’d be dead byNightshade’s weapon. To Tessa’s revenge. To everything we’d failed to stop.

Then warmth spread through my chest. Not Lycian’s power. Something else. Something silver. Something pure.

My wolf stirred. Not dying. Not fading. Growing. Strengthening. Fed by something I didn’t understand.

What’s happening? I asked her. Why aren’t we dead?

Because they’re not gone. Not completely. My wolf’s presence solidified. Your mother. Your sister. Their Moonsilver power didn’t die. It was transferred to you. Through blood. Through sacrifice. Through love.

I felt it then. My mother’s power flowing into me. Warm. Steady. Elena’s power too. Sharp. Fierce. Both merging with mine. Three Moonsilver wolves becoming one.

The wound in my chest began healing. Flesh knitting. Bones mending. Stronger than before.

My eyes opened. Silver light pouring from them. From my hands. From everywhere.

Lycian stared. “You’re alive.”

“I’m more than alive.” I stood. Power thrumming. Vast. Endless. “I’m what they tried to destroy.”

Tessa raised the weapon again. But her hands shook. “What are you? One wolf can’t hold this.”

“Love is stronger than your science.” I walked toward her. “My mother died for me. Elena sacrificed herself. That’s power you’ll never understand.”

She fired. The blast hit me. I absorbed it. Made it mine.

“Impossible,” she whispered.

“It was. Before I became something new.” I placed my hand over her heart. “You wanted a weapon. You created me.”

Silver light flowed into her. Not killing. Purifying. Burning away the conditioning. Finding the girl underneath.

Tessa screamed. Then collapsed. The blankness is gone. Only confusion and horror remained.

“What did you do?” she asked.

“I freed you. Now you choose who you want to be.”

She cried. “I hurt people. How do I live with that?”

“One day at a time.” I offered my hand.

After a moment, she took it. “I’m sorry.”

“I know. Now help us fix this.”

Alarms blared. The facility shook. Chambers were opening. Thousands waking. Programmed. Dangerous.

“I can’t purify them all,” I said.

“You don’t have to,” Tessa said, moving to the terminal. “Your father’s virus freed them. I can modify it. Carry your purification through the network. Reach everyone at once.”

“That’s possible? Can you code purification?”

“Your father could. He built the base. I can modify it. Add your power as a carrier wave.” Her fingers flew across the keyboard. “But I’ll need a sample. Your blood. Your energy. Something to encode into the program.”

I didn’t hesitate. Cut my palm. Let blood drip onto a collection pad. Watched it glow silver. Watched Tessa capture the energy. Code it. Weave it into the virus.

“This will hurt,” she warned. “Distributing your power to thousands. It’ll drain you. Might kill you. Are you sure?”

“I’m sure.” I looked at Lycian. At the man I loved more than life. “Whatever happens. Know that I love you. Know that this was worth it. Know that you made everything worth it.”

“Don’t say goodbye. Not again. I can’t handle another goodbye.” He pulled me close. Kissed me hard. Desperate. “Come back to me. Always come back to me.”

“I will. I promise.” I kissed him back. Then I moved to the terminal. “Do it. Deploy the purification. Save everyone.”

Tessa initiated the program. The virus is spreading through the network. Reaching every chamber. Every prisoner. Every weapon Nightshade had created.

And pulling on me. Draining my power. My energy. My life.

The silver light poured from me. Into the network. Into thousands of people. Purifying. Freeing. Saving.

I felt each one. Each mind touched. Each soul is freed. Each person wakes themselves up instead of weapons.

It was beautiful. And agonizing. And worth every second.

My legs gave out. Lycian caught me. Held me. Poured his strength through the bond. Keeping me conscious. Keeping me alive.

The purification spread. Level by level. Chamber by chamber. Person by person. All waking free. All saved.

Then it was done. The virus is complete. The mission is accomplished. Everyone was freed.

I collapsed. Completely drained. Nothing left. Just a shell being held by my mate.

“Stay with me,” Lycian begged. “Please. You promised. You said you’d come back.”

“I did come back. I’m here. Just. Tired. So tired.” My eyes closed. “Wake me when it’s over. When everyone’s safe. When we can finally rest.”

“It is over. Everyone’s safe. Everyone’s free. You did it. You saved them all.” He held me tighter. “Now rest. I’ve got you. I’ll always have you.”

I slept. Dreamless. Deep. My body is recovering from distributing power to thousands.

Woke to sunlight. Soft. Warm. Real.

Lycian is beside me. Asleep. Exhausted. His hand was still holding mine.

We were in bed. Clean sheets. Quiet room. Safe.

Through the window, I saw people. Hundreds of them. The freed prisoners. All moving. All talking. All alive and free and themselves.

We’d won. Really won. The Collective is destroyed. Project Genesis stopped. Everyone was saved.

But the cost. My mother. Elena. Both gone. Both sacrificed. Both mourned.

Lycian stirred. His eyes are opening. Find me immediately. “You’re awake. Thank god you’re awake.”

“How long?”

“Three days. You’ve been unconscious for three days. Your body is recovering from the purification distribution.” He sat up. Checked me over. “How do you feel?”

“Empty. But alive. Like I gave away part of myself to save everyone else.” I touched his face. “Did it work? Is everyone really free?”

“Everyone. Thousands of people. All purified. All by themselves. All grateful to the Moonsilver wolf who saved them.” Pride shone in his eyes. “You’re a hero. A legend. The Luna who ended the Collective forever.”

“I didn’t do it alone. Everyone helped. Everyone sacrificed.” Tears burned. “My mother. Elena. They’re really gone, aren’t they? It wasn’t a nightmare.”

“I’m sorry. They died saving us. Saving you. Saving everyone.” He pulled me close. “We buried them together. Your mother and Elena. Side by side. Sisters united even in death.”

The grief hit. Wave after wave. Overwhelming. I sobbed against Lycian’s chest. Mourning the family I’d barely had. The sister I’d just found. The mother I’d never really known.

He held me through it all. Steady. Present. Loving me through the worst of it.

When the tears finally stopped, I felt hollow. Scraped clean. But also lighter. Like crying had released some of the weight.

“What happens now?” I asked. “Where do we go from here?”

“Anywhere you want. Everywhere. Nowhere.” He smiled. Tired but genuine. “The Collective is destroyed. Nightshade is reformed. The prisoners are free. We have no more enemies. No more threats. Just the rest of our lives ahead of us.”

“That vacation. The island. Is the offer still open?”

“Always. We leave whenever you’re ready. Stay as long as you want. Just exist together without responsibility or danger or impossible choices.”

“That sounds perfect.” I kissed him. Soft. Sweet. Full of promise. “But first. I need to say goodbye. Properly. To the people we lost.”

We visited the graves. Simple markers. Beautiful location. Overlooking mountains and sky and freedom.

My mother read: Mary Hale. Beloved Mother. Moonsilver Wolf. Died Free.

Elena’s read: Elena Cross. Beloved Sister. Fierce Protector. Died Saving Family.

I knelt between them. Placed flowers. Told them everything.

About the victory. About the freed prisoners. About the world they’d helped save.

About my plans. About the vacation. About the life I was going to live because they’d made it possible.

“Thank you,” I whispered. “For everything. For your sacrifice. For your love. For giving me the strength to finish this. I’ll make you proud. I’ll live the life you couldn’t. I’ll love fiercely and completely and without fear. That’s my promise. My vow. My tribute to you both.”

The wind picked up. Warm. Gentle. Like an answer. Like approval. Like goodbye.

Lycian’s hand found mine. We stood together. Two people who’d survived impossible odds. Who’d found each other against all logic. Who’d built something beautiful from tragedy and pain and hope.

“Ready?” he asked.

“Ready.” I took one last look at the graves. At the women who’d made me possible. “Let’s go home. Let’s start living. Let’s finally be happy.”

We walked away hand in hand. Toward the future. Toward peace. Toward everything we’d fought for.

Behind us, on my mother’s grave, a single flower bloomed. Silver. Glowing faintly. Moonsilver power made manifest.

A reminder that some things never truly die. That love transcends death. That sacrifice creates legacy.

That we’d won.

And ahead of us, waiting at the estate, stood a figure. Watching. Smiling.

Tessa.

Holding a tablet. Screen showing something that made my blood run cold.

A message. From an unknown sender. Showing coordinates. Showing another facility. Showing more chambers. More prisoners. More weapons.

And below it, one line.

The Collective never dies. It just evolves. See you soon, Moonsilver.
