Bonus chapter 3
Bonus chapter 3
Sarah PoV
6 years later.
I had the twins on a cold night in December, two healthily little boys who are identical in looks, but not in temperament. They’re so tricking different in ever way, just like Drake and Dylan are. They share the same features, but I can already tell they are going to be wildly different from each other. Kody is strong and wild, while Keenan is quieter and watches.
They shared a womb, and they’ll share the same looks for the rest of their lives, but I don’t think they’ll ever share anything else. They’ll have separate mates, I’m certain of it.
They’re six months old now, strong and sweet. They’ve just started eating solids and goddess above, you can’t stop them from eating. They’re both little chunks.
“Here take him for a minute.” I ask Drake, handing him Kody. “I need to sort dinner out.”
“Jeremy’s already doing that.” Drake says, taking the baby from me. “He told me to order you to sit down for once.”
I laugh, they’re always trying to get me to rest. But I have so much energy. All I want is to take care of my family, I don’t need rest.
“I’m fine.” I laugh again, “but maybe a night away from the kitchen would be nice.”
“Good.” Drake nods, pointing to the sofa. “Then you can sit down.”
Dylan comes into the room, Alex on his hip, no matter how big the boy gets, he’s always wanting Dylan to hoist him up. He never wants to be away from him.
“Alex.” I smile, “you got daddy again?”
Alex nods enthusiastically, “we played in the garden.”
“Oh wow.” I say, eyes on Dylan. “Is that why daddy is covered in mud?”
Dylan frowns, “it isn’t that bad.” He protests. “We made mud pies for everyone.”
“Oh yum.” I smirk.
“You don’t actually have to eat them mummy, it’s just pretend.” Alex points out, shaking his little head. “You’re silly.”
“Good to know.” I laugh, unable to hold back. “I’ll remember they’re not really for eating next time.”
Dylan places Alex onto the floor, “go and wash your hands Alex.” He says sternly, “you can’t go to dinner like that.”
Alex pouts but nods, “ok daddy.” He says and he heads for the stairs.
“Where’s Jacob?” Dylan asks, his eyes suddenly hard. “He’s left his computer stuff all over the table again.”
“He said it’s hard to work upstairs because of the babies.” Drake says softly, bouncing Kody. “I told him he could work at the table for today.”
“He can work there.” Dylan says, his voice still hard. “But that doesn’t mean he can leave his stuff all over for someone else to clean.”
“Give him a break.” I chuckle, trying not to the my protective nature show. “Just call him and tell him to come clean it up, I’m sure he will.”
“That boy is obsessed with anything electrical.” Dylan companions, his voice softer now. “I don’t know how he understands half of what it says on those codes he works on.”
“Jacob is going to go far.” I say with pride in my voice, “he wants to write his own code for a living.”
Jacob was offered a place as an alpha, but he didn’t want it. He wants to leave the pack when he’s older and go to a human university. I support him, but I’ll be sad when he eventually goes.
There’s so much he wants to do with his life, he wants to explore the world, see things no one else has.
I will give him every opportunity that I can.
I never had the chance to explore the world, or even go to university, but I promised Jacob a long time ago that he would have all the opportunities that I didn’t. And I meant every word.
Sophie and the other kids will all have the same choices, Sophie isn’t a wolf, but she’ll always have a place here if she wants it. She’s family. We officially adopted her four years ago. She’s ours, and we are hers.
All the children have money set aside for when they turn eighteen, what they do with it is their choice, but they have the whole world right at their fingertips.
“I wish he’d run a pack.” Dylan sighs, “I think he’d be a good alpha.”
“He gets to choose what he wants to be.” I say, keeping my voice careful. “Just as we all did.”
Dylan nods, “if he wants to travel the world and find himself, I completely support him. But one day, I hope he comes back to us and tells me he wants to follow in my footsteps.”
We all have hopes for our children, and we don’t always see eye to eye. But we will always support them, even if we don’t agree.
When the war ended six years ago, I promised myself that no one, young or old, would be forced to fight anymore. No more training for those who didn’t want it. No more forced warriors.
The warriors we do have all chose that path for themselves. We didn’t push them to it, no one did. It was a choice, and the same choice will be given to our children.
“Let’s eat.” Jeremy shouts from the kitchen.
I smile and stand, picking Keenan up and walking into the kitchen as Dylan shouts the others from upstairs.
Jacob moves his stuff as soon as he enters the kitchen, just like I knew he would.
One rule in our house is that we always sit down together at the end of a day and talk, we talk about everything from school to projects to hopes for the future.
In my house, my children speak their mind and they are never punished for having opinions.
I’m not a perfect mother, I’m not a perfect Luna Queen, I make mistakes, just like everyone else. But the difference is, I learn. It might take me a while, but I do learn, and I change.
I am always working towards being a better person, not just for my family, but for those who rely on me.
I’ll never forget what I had to do to be here right now, I have killed, and I have fought, and I will continue to fight each and every day to make sure my family and my people are safe.
Life looks different now, but I’ll never forget where I came from.
I'll never forget who I am.
