Chapter 10 Plans for the night

*

I wanted to be pricked by a needle to get off that anxiousness and to know what is worse, he doesn't even care one bit. Tiffany sighted a girl that I suppose she's friends with and sat next to her, I guess the seat was reserved for her. I cared less about whom she's friends with, my problem lies around Davis, I watched him walk to the back where Mason, Johnson and two other twin guys, Bob and Rob, all these guys are super duper cute; they were every girls dream and my friends was lucky to have love amongst these popular guys. I couldn't take my eyes off him, not even for a minute until he dropped on his seat after a playful handshake that appeared in swagger. His wits intrigued especially when he dug his fingers into his silky dark hair, I wonder what happened to the brown hair. Whatever he did was not a problem since it appeared sexy. Yes sexy...

"Claudia could you at least take your eyes off this guy before he pisses you off again?" I heard Lacey say, she interrupted my thoughts. I turned to her slowly with a fixed smile on my face.

"I really wish i could. He's just so cute...I mean er... he looks..." I was stuttering

"Cut it Claudia, this guy is taking everything from you!" Lacey chirped in

"Yeah okay!" I snapped with disappointed, it was not my fault that I couldn't control myself over this boy. "Is he also on Instagram?" I had to ask even if I had my reservations about it.  "Look who's asking," she smirked, it seemed like mockery to me. "Why not. He's a popular kid, remember?" There she goes again with this popularity thing, it also baffled me that in a very short span of days he was popular at my school, I just wonder how and why he is this popular. I found myself angling my face in his direction again, he was laughing about something Mason said. His perfectly aligned set of snowy teeth, professed his facial perfection. That roman nose... gosh Davis, I need your saving. I muttered to myself. He instantly turned in direction, I didn't have to be told to take my gaze off, I guess my intense stare must have pricked him very badly. I felt this sudden awkwardness in the class, it felt like everyone was staring at me, only me and in real; no one actually bothered. They were all in their business of chattering.Lacey was staring at me hopelessly observing my eye contacts, she crossed her arms with a straight face. She seemed pissed

"Really? Claudia? If this what it means to fall in love then I'd rather not!" She blurted out angrily but I didn't bother. I took a pen and an empty book, I flipped to the last page and began scribbling words. To this day, I can't fathom what I had written down. The anxiety took the beat part of me at the moment.I took a deep breath when our history teacher walked in briskly, he apologized for his lateness and he was only five minutes late.

Two hours and thirty minutes wasted on the lectures was not too unbearable to handle but the fact that I was under the same roof as Davis made me nervous. The history teacher took up his books and bid us goodbye as students began to exit the classroom while others remained.

"Ahh, finally he's out!" Lacey blurted out with a yawn. "I'm so exhausted right now...like history wears me out. He's so boring as hell." She added as she tucked her books into her small cute white bag.

"It wasn't so bad you know," I blurted while doing the same thing as her

"That's what nerds say, nothing about education wears them out!" She teased as I gave her a light punch on the arm. Her phone buzzed as she took it up like she has been waiting for it.

"My baby's missing me already!" She said aloud in an innocent tone

"Duh! Who's your BABY? Don't tell me that Mason..."

"He sure is!" She snapped before I could complete statement, I shuddered instead.

"I almost forgot that we had lunch to catch up with and then maybe... we might kick it at his place or kick it..." She leaned and whispered in my ear "...in his car!" She retracted with a contented smile. My brows arched in a bit of shock with a tiny squeeze on my face.

"Eww! What in the world do you mean? It sounds disgusting already!" I said

"Whatever Claudia, if only you had a boyfriend then you'd understand exactly what I'm talking about but for now, keep being a good girl!" She teased, I couldn't stop her from teasing me. I laughed instead trying to digest what she had just said, I was beginning to have a clue.

"Do you mean... sex?" I didn't know where that came but it did come. Her lips curved into a smile that was more of a blush.

"Are you sure you wanna know 'cause I strongly doubt?" She said, I decided not to press on it any longer. I watched reply to her text smiling broadly then she turned to me like she had just remembered something that we hadn't talked about.

"Are you coming over for the karaoke? Heard about it?" She asked with a serious tone

"Oh yeah...I mean no...I haven't heard about it. What karaoke?" I asked in pretense, Iffy had told me

"Sorry I forgot to tell you, it's on the blog! Its starting 6pm so are you coming?"

"You know how it goes around me, I'm not sure if I can but—" I tried to explain with all sincerity as she interrupted, she was laying emphasis.

"Come on Claude, it's going to be fun and nothing contrary I promise. Besides, we got a couple of teachers coming over so it's totally safe." She said holding my arm trying to coax me at all cost.

"I really wanna come—"

"So what's stopping you? Don't tell me your parents 'cause come over and explain all the shit. Hmm?!"

"Alright, but you better have a good persuasive skills though!" I teased then she gave me a hug, it felt warm and lovely anyways.

"Mason and i would come around so don't ever worry about anything." She added

"He can't come into my house, remember? That's trouble!" I gritted my teeth

"Hey, chill! I know your rules. He'd park across the street and wait in the car! Cool?" She held out her arms waiting for my response.  "Great!" I nodded with a running smile, I already liked the idea. Everyone or almost everyone was going to be there and Davis; that's more reason why i should not throw this opportunity to the dust. We were done packing our books as we proceeded to the door then I heard that laugh, that particular laugh. I wouldn't lie, I was tempted to look back but my anxiety wouldn't let me neither would Lacey.

"Lacey honey come on," I heard Mason say from behind, he sounded disappointed as well both turned in his direction. Lacey pleaded that for a minute as she went over to him, he had moved away from the jocks while I planted my feet in the same position. I caught Davis staring at me with disgust, he couldn't hide his irritation, I looked up to the ceiling faking my resilience, deep inside my skin was erupting; I wanted to go six feet deep. Whatever Davis was thinking wouldn't affect me that much since he wasn't so close.I turned in Lacey's direction, they were kissing. How could I not expect that? I rolled my eyes away turning to the door to leave. I heard tell him that she'd be at the cafeteria with me for ten minutes maximum. He always had a way of taking my best friend away from me.

"Hey cutie, I'm gonna steal your bestie in ten minutes." Mason said to me teasingly

"Well I heard that, man!" I said too with an approving smile as he walked back to the boys.

"See ya!" He addedLacey walked over to me hastily then I heard Davis asking Mason if I was really important to know his plans and Mason shrugged with a smile. Mason only said that I was his girl's pal so he respected me that way. We finally walked out of the class, when will this Davis of a guy give me my respect, I mean he's too rigid and annoying in a pretty way though.

I was deeply staring at the sandwich on my plate while Lacey ate, she stopped and asked why I wasn't eating then I grabbed on it. I didn't want to spoil out little time out but the thoughts of my appearance was really a concern to me. In as much as I wanted to attend the karaoke night I also wanted to look better than I've always been, at least for once in my; I was really concerned. She wiped her mouth with a serviette and fixed her eyes on me instead.

"I'm not used to your silence Claudia, tell me all about it. Go on!" She demanded seriously then I inhaled and exhaled at once.

"Its really..."

"I won't take that as an answer Claude!" Now she was very serious, I had no choice.  "Maybe it's better if i don't attend the karaoke besides its not compulsory. I mean, look at me! I'm not only stupid and conventional, I'm out of date! Like, take a look at you Lacey you are always look on point not like me, my wardrobe is bunch of riffraff dresses. Nothing new." I stopped to breath

"Is that why you've been silent?" She asked calmly then I nodded curtly.

"Oh Claude, you've never ever looked horrible in my eyes, even Mason thinks you're really pretty..." She sounded sympathetic and that was the last thing I want from her.

"Thinks? Am I really pretty? Like you? Like every other person out there?" I asked in disappointment

"You are but your rules are really really extreme and it's not your fault which I know." She said

"Do you know what, you should just go without me. I'm fine and I've always been fine." I blurted coldly as I buried my eyes into the barely eaten sandwich.

"Really? That's a no if that's what you are asking, Claudia we've always been together regardless of everything and you know that!" She scolded

"Just go ahead, I'll just see you tomorrow alright?!" I added "Please?"

"Don't even think of talking to me if you're gonna ditch this over some boy? He's just a boy!" She grabbed her bag pack and cell phone and headed away angrily.

"Come on Lacey," I called from behind as voice dimmed, I lost my appetite and decided to head down to the bleachers, at least I could wait for Chloe while i sulk in my pain. Alone.

I cornered myself at the grandstand interlocking and unlock my fingers as my eyes focused on them with my bag beside me, my hair fell across while denied me the access to neither look left or right. I felt someone touch my shoulder then I turned to the person slowly, it was Johnson.

"Hey!" He hollered as he sat beside me, I only gave a faint smile.

"Why are you here all alone?" He looked around to really confirm if I was alone. "It's weird. Where's Lacey?"

"She uh...she left already. I guess with Mason! And you, what're you doing here anyways?" I turned my focus to him

"I was actually searching for you, I wanted to borrow your notebook so I thought of the bleachers. Gotcha!" He said with playfulness  "Alright! Which of them?" I began to unzip my zipper then he pointed at it, it was Bio. He tucked it into his bag and asked again, I knew he wouldn't give up that easily until he's known what was up.

"Wanna explain what this silence is all about?"  "It's nothing serious. Maybe I just need to be alone, before Chloe comes around." I explained briefly

"I'm not buying that though! And," He tilted his brows and continued. "And why's Davis always at you? Did you guys ever first paths or something?" He asked in concern  "Uhm... about Davis," I heaved a deep sigh "I don't know but we're good anyways. I mean we live very close to each other so," I shrugged my shoulders like I had just told the truth when it was flatly a lie.

"I don't think he sees you through way you do. He was like, you are bitchy nun and maybe you aren't a virgin. He said that you fucked a neighbor at the balcony and..." I interrupted instantly  "Hold on Johnson, what is that? Does that even sound true to you?" I couldn't believe my ears, why would Davis say such an awful thing about me? I've never known a man or rather have sex at the balcony.”

"No!" He sounded sincere. "But the way he's painting you is really disgusting!" He added  "Okay! I heard," I snapped, fighting the tears in my eyes. He attempted to hold my wrist as I retracted. "You should go Johnny, I'll see you around. Please!"

"Great! Maybe I shouldn't have said something. I'll just," He was lost for words, and he walked away respectively. Why should I be surprised when Davis always felt that I was lying about myself?
