Chapter 92: All Ties Are Severed, Who Are You?

Chapter 92 All Ties Are Severed, Who Are You

Lily looked up at him. Those words had just slipped out.

Dennis's calm heart suddenly skipped a beat.

His throat moved slightly: "Lily, don't just casually tell men you'll take responsibility. That's something men should say."

Lily also realized her words were a bit inappropriate, as if she were hinting at something.

She nervously lowered her eyelids: "Don't get me wrong, I didn't mean anything by what I just said. You're my friend, and I definitely can't let you get dragged into this because of me."

"I understand."

Dennis looked up at the hospital: "So what are you planning to do?"

"I want to talk to Ethan myself."

"Let's go."

Lily looked at his back in surprise and jogged to catch up: "You don't need to come. I'll go by myself."

If Dennis went, he would definitely be put in a difficult position.

She didn't want him to be hassled.

"Lily, wait for me."

Michael caught up. He hadn't expected Lily to just take a taxi and leave on her own. Her stubborn temper had him chasing after her all this way.

When he saw Dennis in front of Lily, he immediately said coldly, "So you actually came. You've got some nerve."

He thought Dennis would chicken out and not dare to show up.

Lily frowned: "Michael, I told you this has nothing to do with him. Why are you doing this?"

"Lily, I'm doing this for your own good..."

"Enough! What do you mean by my own good? Did you ask for my opinion? I don't think it's good at all."

Lily was really fed up with their self-righteousness.

She walked into the elevator with a stern face.

Dennis followed beside Lily, feeling a bit soft-hearted: "This isn't that difficult. Don't get so worked up."

"Dr. Gonzalez, that's easy for you to say. All the pressure is on our Lily. With your status, do you think you can compete with the Murphy Family of Empire City?"

Michael really looked down on this school doctor. Maybe he had some skills and talked big.

But in front of the Murphy Family of Empire City, he was nothing.

Dennis's expression was extremely indifferent: "No need to compete. It's just a matter of one sentence."

"What big talk! I'd like to see how you solve this problem with just one sentence."

Michael thought this was a good opportunity to let Lily see that this school doctor was nothing, just full of empty promises and sweet talk.

Lily took a deep breath and walked out of the elevator. She turned back to look at Dennis: "You wait outside."

Dennis saw Lily's expression: "I can go in with you."

Ethan knew him.

Even if it meant exposing his identity, he didn't want to see Lily so anxious and upset.

"No."

Lily was very serious: "Just wait here for me."

Michael disagreed: "Lily, can you be rational?"

Lily ignored Michael and walked angrily toward the hospital room.

She pushed open the door, and Sophie's surprised voice came from inside: "What? Ethan, you're not going to pursue this matter anymore?"

"That's right. I was the one who threw the first punch at the bar that day. I was in the wrong. Besides, they compensated me with some money, so let's just drop it."

Ethan's expression was somewhat unnatural: "Besides, isn't Lily from the Roberts family? Pursuing this won't do you any good either."

Sophie was a bit unwilling: "But..."

You didn't say that before. Why did you change your mind after meeting that person?

Ethan looked up: "Sophie, I'm only letting this go out of respect for you."

Because Eric had warned him not to say too much to the Roberts family, he couldn't tell the truth.

Sophie's expression didn't look good. If Austin weren't here, she would have already urged Ethan to continue pursuing this matter.

She could only say: "Ethan, thank you. The Roberts family will be grateful to you."

Austin breathed a sigh of relief. As long as Ethan didn't pursue this, it was fine.

Lily found it unbelievable.

Was Ethan really not going to pursue it? Something felt off, but she couldn't put her finger on it.

Michael walked over: "Thank you so much, Mr. Murphy. We've really caused you trouble. Rest assured, the Roberts family will cover all your subsequent treatment costs, and Sophie will take care of you until you recover."

Ethan coughed: "Anyway, out of respect for Sophie, it wouldn't be appropriate to make this too ugly."

That should be enough to get by, right?

Although Sophie felt a bit unwilling, Ethan showing her such respect made her feel quite pleased.

Sophie looked directly at Lily: "Lily, although this matter is settled, Ethan was hurt so badly. Shouldn't you apologize?"

Austin nodded: "Right, right, you should definitely apologize. Lily, come here."

Michael frowned: "That school doctor is here too. He should be the one to apologize."

Why should Lily apologize?

Ethan quickly waved his hand: "No need, no need to apologize. These are just formalities, not necessary."

His cousin Eric probably hadn't left yet.

Eric had stood up for that school doctor, and he had already agreed not to pursue the matter. If Eric and that school doctor came over now...

The one apologizing would probably be him!

Michael spoke up: "Mr. Murphy, you were injured. They should apologize."

"No, no, no, I don't care about these things. Let's just close the book on this matter. Nobody mention it again, okay?"

Ethan was really scared of Eric and didn't want to see him.

Now, not only did Lily find it strange, but even the other Roberts family members didn't expect this matter to be resolved so easily.

Something was odd!

Sophie said with a bit of pride: "Thank you, Ethan, for being so generous out of respect for me. I'm so touched. Michael, since Ethan isn't holding a grudge, let's just drop it."

Ethan quickly said, "I need to rest now. You all should leave."

He wanted to hide for a while.

The group left the hospital room.

The weight on Lily's heart lifted. She hadn't expected Ethan to be different from the rumors—actually, so generous?

Sophie deliberately said, "Lily, you need to have a good talk with that school doctor when you get back. Tell him not to be so impulsive in the future. Not everyone is as generous and forgiving as Ethan."

Michael nodded: "Sophie, I knew you were sensible. Thanks to you this time."

Austin looked at Lily: "Stop hanging around with that school doctor. Move back home. The family won't treat you like before anymore. Stop being stubborn, okay?"

Lily laughed coldly.

She looked at Austin: "Stop daydreaming. I have nothing to do with you people. Don't try to control me."

Austin was about to lose his temper when Michael stopped him and said, "Lily, let's just leave this matter as it is. You did so well on the exam this time. The family is planning to throw you a grand celebration party. Whatever ideas or requests you have, just say them. Michael will make it happen for you."

Sophie, beside them, was so jealous that she was twisting her fingers, feeling extremely bitter.

She wouldn't let Lily be so smug. What, first place—Richard and Lily must have cheated together.

Lily's eyes were full of mockery, making Michael's heart suddenly sink.

She took two steps back: "My celebration party? Where do you get the nerve to throw one? Based on how you held me back before and forced me to skip classes to play games?"

"Lily, your words are too harsh."

"There are even harsher ones. Who are you? What right do you have to throw me a celebration party!"

Austin answered loudly: "Because I'm your brother!"

"Not anymore."
