Chapter 317 Are You Sure?

Chapter 317 Are You Sure?

Lily glanced at Emily. Although she didn't need Emily to stand up for her, she was glad that Emily hadn't been fooled by the Roberts . That was good enough.

David frowned, "Emily, Sophie has apologized. Just let it go."

Emily looked at David in disbelief, not understanding how he could say such a thing.

James chimed in, "Ms. West, you don't know Lily's personality. What you see might not be the truth. Anyway, Sophie would never deliberately frame someone. Someone must have framed her."

The implication was that Lily had staged this whole thing for Emily to see.

Emily looked at David, "Is that what you think too?"

David paused before saying, "Lily does have a lot of conflicts with the family. She's done things like this before, so you can't completely trust her."

At that moment, Emily was deeply disappointed in David.

David's eyes showed a hint of impatience. "Emily, there are so many people watching. Can you show me some respect and stop making a scene?"

Sophie's voice was tearful at this point, "David, I don't want to see you and Emily fighting because of me. Even though I didn't do it, I'll do whatever Emily says, as long as it calms her down."

Emily slapped Sophie across the face.

James immediately pulled Sophie to his side. "Ms. West, why are you hitting people for no reason?"

"I hit her because I wanted to. Do I need a reason?"

Emily couldn't take it anymore. "David, if you're going to protect Sophie like this, then I'll tell my family to cancel the engagement, and you can spend your life with her."

Lily watched this scene, her admiration for Emily growing.

Finally, Emily walked over to her and linked arms with her, "Let's go."

"No, you can't leave! David, are you just going to stand there and watch Sophie get bullied? We're family!"

James shouted at David furiously.

David was suddenly caught between a rock and a hard place. He absolutely couldn't afford to offend the Wests right now.

David's face darkened as he pulled Sophie over and said coldly, "Apologize."

James looked up at Emily, "Did you hear that? David's telling you to apologize."

Emily raised an eyebrow. "David, are you sure?"

David turned to look at Sophie, "I'm telling you to apologize. Didn't you hear me?"

Sophie was shocked. "David, I didn't do anything wrong."

Why should she apologize?

Why should everything be whatever Emily says?

David lowered his voice and said to Sophie, "The Roberts can't afford to offend the West family. If you don't want the Roberts to go bankrupt and have no money to spend, apologize right now!"

Emily was clearly closer to Lily and was doing this on purpose.

Sophie was so angry that she cried. James spoke up, "Sophie, let's go. Don't apologize. David can't do anything to you."

But Sophie didn't move.

After all, James was useless, he was just all talk.

If she left today, would she still be able to come back to the company and participate in this AI project?

Given David's temper, absolutely not.

Thinking about her plan with Paul, Sophie could only swallow her pride and looked up at Lily and Emily, "I'm sorry."

Emily said coldly, "You still haven't admitted that you deliberately spilled the wine that day."

"I'm sorry. I accidentally spilled it on my dress myself. It had nothing to do with Lily. I was too scared, so I said the wrong thing."

Of course, Sophie wouldn't admit she did it on purpose.

Emily was annoyed by this attitude. What a hateful bitch.

Lily tugged on Emily's hand, "Let's go."

After Emily walked away, she said somewhat gloomily, "I wasn't finished yet."

"No matter what you say, Sophie won't admit it. In the end, everyone will just think you're bullying people with your power. With so many people watching, it would be bad for your reputation if word got out."

Lily looked at Emily seriously, "You don't need to stand up for me. I appreciate the thought."

". That bitch Sophie clearly did it on purpose. I saw it."

"I know. Things like this have happened many times since I was little. Thank you for standing up for me and forcing them to apologize, but in the end, you're the one who gets affected."

That's why Lily pulled Emily away, to prevent anything bad being said about Emily.

Emily's eyes immediately reddened, "I'm sorry. I misunderstood you before."

Only by personally witnessing the grievances Lily suffered could one understand what Lily had been through.

Lily was somewhat helpless, "I'm fine. I stopped caring about them long ago. By the way, didn't you say last time you wanted to break up with David?"

"I mentioned it to my family, but they said these were small matters and told me to talk it over with David." Emily showed a helpless expression at this point, "The engagement isn't easy to cancel, but I'll find a way."

"David cares most about his dignity. If you go against him from now on, he'll probably get fed up and break up with you himself." Lily offered some advice.

Seeing Emily's troubled look, Lily guessed she probably had her own difficulties in the West family.

At this moment, Connie arrived and went straight to Emily's side. "Why aren't you with Mr. Roberts?"

Emily answered obediently, "I'll go in a moment."

Seeing this scene, Lily's eyes turned a bit colder.

David also noticed Connie had arrived and immediately walked over, "Mrs. West."

Connie glanced at David, "I've specially arranged people for you today. You'd better perform well later so the media can report on it tomorrow."

"Yes, Mrs. West. I won't disappoint you this time. I'm also planning to personally test Emily's foot measurements so I can customize a pair of shoes for her."

Connie smiled, "That's wonderful. That's why I had her come and see today."

But Emily was somewhat resistant, "Connie, I already arranged with a friend to help me with the measurements."

Connie's tone wasn't pleasant. "Which friend?"

Lily spoke up proactively, "This friend of mine."

Only then did Connie seem to notice Lily, "Isn't this Ms. Roberts? You're a gaming streamer - do you even know how to do this?"

She admired Lily's abilities.

Not only had she charmed Dennis completely, but she'd also gotten shares in Maple Leaf Corporation.

If Maple Leaf Corporation's project were launched, Lily would be worth tens of millions of dollars .

Connie had already found out that Sophie was just an adopted daughter. Now that she'd decided to work with David, she needed to be wary of Lily.

At this moment, someone from the company came to Lily's side, "Lily, here's your ID badge. Don't forget to wear it when you go on stage later as Chief Technical Engineer."

Connie was somewhat surprised, "Lily is actually the Chief Technical Engineer?"

The colleague nodded, "Yes, is there a problem?"

"She's so young, just a freshman. How could she be Chief Technical Engineer?"

Connie's tone was mocking. She looked at Lily - no wonder Olivia had been overshadowed. Lily was quite capable.

The colleague retorted, "Lily may be young, but she's very capable, and she's the one who led this project."

"So what if she's capable? Our company has plenty of capable people, but they're still just employees."

Connie still didn't believe it, staring at Lily and saying, "It seems some people will do anything to impress a woman."

Lily knew Connie was talking about Dennis.

She replied with a half-smile, "Mrs. West, I hear your discernment is usually very accurate, but this time you've misjudged."

After Lily finished speaking, without caring how ugly Connie's expression was, she walked away with light steps following her colleague.

Connie was so angry her face looked terrible, "David, I heard there will be reporters asking questions during the presentation, right? If someone can't answer professional questions, wouldn't that be very embarrassing?"

She was going to teach Lily a lesson today!
