Chapter 311: Publicly Acknowledge Her Existence
Dennis's words were quite ambiguous.
Olivia, beside him, could barely control her expression. She hadn't expected Dennis to bring Lily to today's dinner.
And to be so physically intimate with Lily in front of everyone—didn't Dennis care about saving her face at all?
Everyone thought she and Dennis were a couple.
Lily looked back at Dennis. Did he know that talking like this would make people misunderstand their relationship?
Whose person was she?
Dennis didn't even look at her. He pulled out a chair for Lily to sit down, then sat in the empty seat next to her.
Lily paused slightly. If she remembered correctly, that seatwas where Olivia was sitting just now.
Didn't Dennis notice?
At this moment, everyone's expressions became a bit subtle. They'd heard Dennis had a girl he protected closely—could it be the game streamer SweetLemon?
Olivia was left standing to the side. She couldn't help but speak up, "Dennis, today we're discussing the new AI project. Ms. Roberts doesn't really understand this stuff. If you have her come, she'll probably find it very boring."
That rich kid continued, "Yeah, what could a game streamer understand anyway?"
His words carried a hint of discrimination and contempt.
Olivia walked over to the rich kid's side. Immediately, the person next to him stood up to give her his seat, showing Olivia great respect.
At this point, someone changed the subject to discuss the AI project. "This time, Maple Leaf Corporation won the bid, and whether it's technology or funding, they're the strongest. When the product launches, it'll definitely dominate the entire market."
"We have to thank Mr. Gonzalez for his sharp eye. Back then, my family didn't think much of this project, but now they have to admit they were wrong."
Lily listened to them talk about the AI project's prospects. Once the product launched, Maple Leaf Corporation's value would double, and her income would multiply too.
Olivia said to Lily casually, "If you find it boring, you can leave anytime. No one will hold it against you."
Lily answered flatly, "It's alright."
The rich kid immediately said, "So it seems Ms. Roberts is also very interested in our AI project. Do you have anything to say about it?"
Lily thought for a moment and shook her head. "Not at the moment."
After all, it was still just the beginning. All these prospects would be realized in the future, but talking about them now felt a bit like bragging.
After Lily answered this way, the rich kid laughed out loud, his eyes carrying some mockery. "Ms. Roberts, if you don't understand, you can ask. No need to pretend.''
The atmosphere in the private room became a bit tense.
Olivia picked up her glass and pretended to take a sip, but her eyes were somewhat cold. Today was a good chance to show Lily what happens when you don't belong—don't try to fit in where you're not wanted.
Dennis's expression changed considerably. Just as he was about to speak, Lily laughed softly.
The rich kid stared at Lily, his tone unfriendly. "Ms. Roberts, you're actually laughing. Is pretending to know funny?"
"It is pretty funny."
Lily looked at him calmly. "You got the name of Maple Leaf Corporation's latest system wrong just now, and you also got the system's performance figureswrong. What you said was the performance data from the previous version."
"That's impossible. How could a streamer like you knowthat? Did you sneak a look at the confidential business information on Mr. Gonzalez's computer?"
The rich kid was somewhat embarrassed and angry, instinctively glancing at Olivia because he didn't want to lose face in front of his dream girl.
Only then did Olivia speak up. "Dennis, how could you be so careless? Even though you're very good to Ms. Roberts, there should be a limits. After all, business competition is so fierce. If Ms. Roberts accidentally leaks it, that would be big trouble."
The rich kid chimed in, "Yeah, don't let pillow talk affect business decisions. Mr. Gonzalez, this isn't like your usualstyle at all."
Dennis glanced at everyone present. "Didn't you all want to meet a chief engineer of the AI project? Today I brought her here for you."
The whole room went silent.
When Olivia looked at Lily, her hand gripped the glass tightly, finding it hard to believe.
The rich kid was directly shocked. "Mr. Gonzalez, you're not saying the chief engineer is Ms. Roberts, are you?"
Dennis nodded. "That's right, it's her."
"How is that possible? Mr. Gonzalez, are you joking with everyone?"
"She's a game streamer. Saying she's good at games would make sense, but how could she be the chief engineer?"
Dennis's slender fingers tapped on the table, his commanding gazesweeping over around everyone present. Immediately, everyone fell silent.
Only then did he speak. "Do you think I would joke about something like this?"
Everyone's expressions changed. Dennis indeed wasn't that kind of person, but the rumored amazing chief engineer was so young and a girl—this was too unbelievable, wasn't it?
The rich kid couldn't help asking, "Mr. Gonzalez, this whole thing sounds absurd, no matter how you look at it. She doesn't look like that rumored chief engineer at all."
Who the hell would believe this?
Most likely, Dennis was deliberately promoting her to chief engineer just to please a woman.
Dennis looked over. "You judge people too much by appearances, which is why you got scammed out of so much money by women before."
Everyone around joined in the teasing. The rich kid's face turned red, and he said, unconvinced, "That's two different things. I fell for a honey trap. Mr. Gonzalez, thislooks pretty similar. After all, everyone's investing with you. If you end up getting scammed by a woman, as I did, wouldn't our investment go down the drain?"
Hearing everyone's words, Lily turned her head to glance at Dennis. His expression seemed angry.
She knew she was young. Except for the colleagues who had worked with her at Maple Leaf Corporation back then, noone else believed her identity.
This was normal.
Dennis was expressionless, his slender fingers tapping on the table, clearly a little displeased.
He said coldly, "In that case, the partnership is terminated."
Seeing this, Olivia quickly said, "Dennis, don't be angry. After all, what you said is really hard to believe. Everyone's been friends for so many years. Let's all make money together—there's no need totake it this far.."
Dennis glanced at Olivia. "Today's gathering—you weren't invited, were you?"
Olivia's expression instantly froze, her face particularly awkward. "We're all friends. Can't I just cometake a look?"
Lily was slightly surprised. Was Dennis standing up for her?
The rich kid who had been making a fuss earlier now came to Lily with a wine glass. "Ms. Roberts, please be the bigger person and don't hold it against me. I didn't expect you to be so talented—not only can you handle men, but you can write code too. I really do admire you."
Lily looked at the wine glass in front of her. "At least I didn't pretend to know what I don't know.''
Olivia came over to smooth things over. "Ms. Roberts, it was just a small matter to begin with. Don't be so serious about it. Show me some courtesy, okay?''
Lily's tone was cold. "Why should I show you any courtesy? Are we friends?"
