Chapter 203 Lily, No One Can Save You Now
Seeing herself surrounded by so many bodyguards, Lily instantly realized that Peter had come fully prepared this time. She took a few steps back. “What you’re doing is illegal.”
“You’re my sister. Even if you call the police, it will most likely be treated as a family dispute.”Peter pressed her. “Will you come with me willingly, or do I have to take you by force? Choose.”
Lily could only laugh bitterly. “Do I really have a choice?”
It was obvious—she had no option but to go with him.
Peter was still exactly the same as he had always been—completely unchanged.
He stepped forward, snatched her phone, and glanced at the contact screen. “This is that school doctor, isn’t it? Unfortunately, he won’t be able to save you this time.”
Lily looked at the bodyguards closing in on her. Even if she resisted, she had no chance against so many of them.
She knew Peter’s temperament well—if she fought back, she would be the one who suffered in the end.
Not intending to confront them head-on, Lily could only allow Peter to drag her into the car.
Peter sat down beside her,his tone softening. “You’ve angered Michael to the point of illness and thrown David’s company into chaos, but you’re still our sister. If you apologize obediently, everything can be forgiven.”
Lily remained silent, her face cold and indifferent.
Peter stared at her. “I’m talking to you. You’ve always been so obedient and sensible—everyone used to praise me for having such a good sister. Don’t do something that will disappoint me.”
“Are you finished?” Lily looked at him calmly. “Did any of them mention that I’ve already severed ties with the Roberts family? David agreed to it himself.”
“David may have agreed, but I never did.”
Lily’s voice was icy. “Mr. Peter Roberts, that’s not what you said at the banquet.”
Peter had been humiliated at the party and declared that he would never bother with her again.
“Call me Peter. Who told you to address me so formally? I was just angry earlier. With so many people watching,I couldn’t exactly lower myself to appease you, could I?”
Peter took out a Hermès box.“I bought two silk scarves—one for you and one for Sophie. They’re the latest styles every girl wants. You can choose first.”
Lily glanced at the scarves, her tone mocking. “Give them both to Sophie.”
“No, one was bought for you.”
“Mr. Roberts—Sophie’s father—has done our family a great favor. If you can’t even spare two scarves for her, what will people say about the Roberts family?”
No sooner had Lily finished speaking than her chin was seized in a painful grip.
Peter’s expression turned glacial.“Lily, you know I’ve never had much patience. It’s been a long time since I last hit you—don’t test my limits, understand?”
“Am I wrong?”
“Yes, you are. In my heart, you are my only sister. Sophie could never compare to you.”
Lily’s eyes filled with derision. “How unfortunate it is to be your sister—constantly subjected to beatings.”
“You’re beaten only because yourefuse to obey. I used Sophie to discipline you, and over the years, you became much more obedient. But lately, you’ve reverted to your old ways.”
A savage glint flashed across Peter’s handsome features. “But you’re my blood sister. I’ll see to your proper upbringing.”
“Just try it,” Lily retorted, landing a punch squarely on Peter’s face with all her strength.
Earlier, she hadn’t resisted because, surrounded by so many bodyguards, it would have been futile—and she would only have ended up injured.
But now, things were different.
In the back seat, it was just the two of them.
Lily’s punch nearly rendered Peter unconscious, blood streaming from his nose.
The driver, seeing the chaos in the rearview, shouted in alarm, “Mr. Roberts!”
“Stop the car!” Lily’s hand clamped around Peter’s throat as she threatened the driver. “Or I’ll snap his neck.”
Terrified, the driver pulled over immediately.
Lily released Peter and seized the chance to escape.
But just as she turned, Peter regained consciousness, pressed a towel soaked in anesthetic to her mouth and nose, and dragged her back into the car.
She heard Peter’s voice in her ear. “Lily, this was meant for you earlier, but you were so obedient that I didn’t need to use it. In the end, however, you still disappointed me.”
Lily realized the towel was laced with sedatives. Finally, she succumbed to unconsciousness.
Peter only let go once she had passed out, accepting a tissue from a bodyguard.
The driver ventured timidly, “Mr. Roberts, perhaps we should bind her hands, just in case.”
After all, Lily’s fighting skills were formidable.
Peter slapped him across the face. “Whose hands did you say to tie up? She’s my sister, understand?”
The driver fell silent, trembling.
Peter shut the car door. “Drive. Head to the hospital.”
He touched his own face, which was already swollen.
This girl had clearly been training recently—and now, she even dared to fight back.
The car arrived at the hospital.
Peter carried Lily into a luxury private ward, beaming. “Michael, guess who I’ve brought?”
“Lily? Why is she unconscious?”
Michael’s face lit up with delight at the sight of Lily, but his joy faded when he realized she hadn’t woken up.
“Peter, what happened to Lily?”
Peter gestured to his swollen face. “It wasn’t easy getting her here.”
Michael gave up his own bed for her.
He checked Lily’s condition, frowning at Peter. “How did you manage to bring her here?”
“We were talking just fine, and then out of nowhere, she hit me and knocked me out. Michael, she’s grown strong and is becoming increasingly difficult to control.”
Peter was happy, but the fact that Lily had grown stronger and turned against the family made him very unhappy.
“Peter, you’ve gone too far. You can’t treat Lily this way. That stuff is harmful.”
“Don’t worry, Michael. I know what I’m doing.”
Peter sat nearby. Soon, a nurse arrived to apply ointment and an ice pack to his swelling.
Michael sighed. “Peter, Lily is grown now—she has her own mind. We can’t treat her as we once did.”
“But look at her. After the SATs, she stormed out, went to Empire City for college alone, got entangled with the Harper family, and landed Austin in detention. If you had been firmer and kept her close, none of this would have happened.”
“This time is different. It’s our fault.”
Michael had finally realized—Lily was not to blame for any of this.
Peter glanced at Lily. “Back then,I was forced into isolation and couldn’t go near her. The film crew had its own mess, so I had no choice but to leave. If I had been there, I would never have let Lily become like this.”
All her life, he had been the one to teach Lily how to behave.
Michael removed Lily’s shoes and tucked her in.
He lowered his voice. “Peter, I’ll handle Lily’s affairs. You must promise me that you won’t use your old methods.”
“Understood,” Peter replied, impatience creeping into his tone.
Peter’s agent approached. “Mr. Roberts, you have an event tonight. How did you injure your face?”
“It’s nothing.”
“It’s not nothing—for an actor, your face is everything.”
Peter remained unbothered, paying the matter no mind.
He stood, casting a glance at the sleeping Lily. “Michael, talk to her. I’ll come back once I’m done.”
“Go on, but don’t ever treat Lily this way again.”
“And you’re saying you’re not happy to see her here?”
Michael felt a headache coming on. How could that be the same thing?
He did want Lily to visit him at the hospital—but not like this.
Wasn’t this just adding fuel to the fire?
No sooner had Peter left than Lily’s phone rang.
Michael glanced at the caller ID: Dennis.
His lips pressed into a thin line. He hung up without hesitation and switched the phone to silent.
In his heart, Lily would always be family.
After finishing, he turned—only to meet Lily’s gaze.
Michael felt a pang of guilt. “Lily, you’re awake?”
Lily’s face remained expressionless as she stepped barefoot from the bed.
Michael hurried to fetch her slippers. “Lily, put on your shoes—the floor is dirty.”
Lily held out her hand. “Give me my phone.”
“Lily, since you’re here, can you stay with me a little longer?”
