Chapter 200 Do You Want to Break Peter's Hand?

Chapter 200 Do You Want to Break Peter's Hand?

Lily shot Peter a casual glance, her eyes brimming with ridicule. The moment he noticed her expression, Peter’s temper flared immediately.

He lifted his hand as if to strike her, but Lily didn’t move an inch, staring back at him with icy calm.

Peter hesitated, then grabbed Lily by the arm and tried pulling her toward Samantha so she could apologize.

As Peter’s hand came closer, Lily caught his arm and forcefully twisted it. His face went pale at once. He struggled to fight back, but the pain shooting through his arm only intensified.

Samantha’s face shifted completely as she hurried over, trying to intervene. "Lily, what are you doing? Let go!"

"Lily, release him this instant! Do you want to snap Peter's arm?" Sophie spoke with clear worry in her voice, though a trace of smug satisfaction flickered in her eyes. After all, Peter was a well-known public figure—being handled this way by Lily in front of everyone was something he would never forgive.

At that moment, Michael and Austin were already backing Lily. She needed to stop the other brothers from taking Lily’s side as well.

Once Lily let go, she spoke in a composed tone, "Mr. Roberts, you initiated it. I was just defending myself."

Peter was mortified. He hadn’t anticipated that Lily’s combat skills had advanced so much. Could this really be the timid, timid Lily he once knew?

Sophie quickly stepped in front of Peter. "Lily, this is too much. Peter was only trying to help you."

"Keep your so-called help—I don’t want it," Lily said without hesitation.

Peter was burning with humiliation. "Alright, alright, alright. Lily, it’s clear to me now what kind of person you’ve turned into. I returned this time intending to offer you some opportunities. If you have no interest in anything the Roberts family can provide, don’t blame me for handing it all over to Sophie.

Before, Lily would have been terrified of exactly this. Yet now, seeing no trace of fear or panic on her face made Peter feel strangely unsettled.

Could Lily really be indifferent to him giving everything to Sophie?

Her face stayed emotionless. "Go ahead. I’ve never valued the opportunities you’ve been offering."

Previously, she had always been at Peter’s side, crafting scripts for him and planning the direction of his new shows.

She did all of it to maintain a strong bond with Peter and support him, never once considering that she might gain any opportunities from him in return.

Peter remained skeptical. "I wonder how long you can maintain this tough front."

Sophie felt a secret sense of satisfaction but had to hide it. "Lily, Peter’s only teasing. How could I possibly deserve your opportunities?"

"Sophie, don't say that. I mean what I say. Since some people are ungrateful, I don't need to be nice to her anymore." Peter felt humiliated and turned to leave after speaking.

Lily found it utterly absurd. In her past life, all those “opportunities” Peter offered had ended up in Sophie’s hands anyway.

And now they were attempting to use those opportunities against her, yet in this life, they meant nothing to her.

Sophie’s plan had succeeded, leaving her in high spirits. There was no way Peter would forgive Lily now.

Samantha felt sorry for her idol, Peter, and shot Lily a furious glare. "I’ve never seen anyone so ungrateful. Peter has treated you so well, and you don’t even value it."

Sophie added, "Ms. Harper, after all, Lily has gained a bit of fame now.I heard her initial contract paid her millions in bonus, so she probably believes she doesn’t require Peter’s support anymore.

"That money means nothing—it doesn’t even match my annual allowance."

Bruce couldn’t stop himself from ridiculing her. "Lily earned that money herself, whereas Ms. Harper gets hers from her family. How is that even comparable?"

Samantha’s anger flared as she stared daggers at Bruce. "How dare you speak to me that way! I’ll have my father handle you. A tiny team like yours actually dares to defy me!"

She came here today just to teach that Lily a lesson!

Bruce responded with a dismissive tone, "Ms. Harper, don’t you realize our team is funded by the Gonzalez family?"

"My sister is about to become engaged to the Gonzalez family heir and will soon take the name Mrs. Gonzalez. When that happens, you’ll be the first one to lose your job!"

Samantha understood that the Bubble Buddies Team was truly funded by the Gonzalez family. The Harper family had no power to stop them.

Bruce laughed dismissively. "The rumors about the Harper family and the Gonzalez family have been around forever, Yet I’ve never seen the Gonzalez heir show up with your sister in public, nor has he ever recognized her position. Who knows if they'll even get married - is she just throwing herself at him?"

Lily looked at Bruce in surprise. There was actually this kind of inside story?

In her past life, she had also caught wind of rumors about the Gonzalez heir getting engaged to the Harper daughter, but it never appeared to be officially confirmed.

It had always just been a rumor.

Samantha was livid. "What could someone like you possibly understand? He’s been away on business and has only just come back to the Gonzalez family. Our two families will have dinner together soon to discuss the engagement."

Otherwise, why would she humble herself and apologize to Lily in public? It was all for her sister’s engagement to the Gonzalez family heir.

"Samantha, are you out of your mind? When did my brother ever agree to have dinner with your Harper family?"

Lily glanced up and saw Mark arriving, his oversized sunglasses giving him a cold, enigmatic air. Was he here to pick a fight?

Samantha’s face darkened at the sight of Mark. "But it’s true—the two families have already come to an agreement."

"That agreement was made between my mom and your Harper family. What does that have to do with my brother?"

"Your mom is setting up the engagement for him."

"Then why not have my mom marry your sister? After all, she’s been managing all the marriage discussions from beginning to end – they really seem perfect for one another."

Mark's outrageous statement shocked everyone around.

Samantha was furious and began to cry. "Mark, you've crossed the line! This engagement was arranged by your mother herself. Don’t you worry about humiliating her with what you just said?"

"I'm already an unfilial son to her anyway. I've brought her shame more than a few times." As long as Dennis had Celeste's respect, that was all that mattered.

A little embarrassment to her didn’t faze him. Overwhelmed by the scrutinizing eyes of everyone nearby and unable to outwit Mark in words, Samantha furiously turned and walked away.

But Sophie didn't leave. She looked at Mark excitedly.

She never imagined that the captain of the Bubble Buddies Team would actually be the brother of the Gonzalez family heir—a wealthy second-generation scion!

He was far wealthier than Ethan. Sophie's heart pounded with anticipation. If she ended up with Mark, she would one day be Mrs. Gonzalez.

Sophie suppressed her excitement. She had to win Mark over.

Sophie approached Mark and murmured gently, almost timidly, "Captain Gonzalez, Samantha has always been immature. She was only talking about sponsorship for the Empire Team base."

"Quest University's team needs sponsorship?" Mark completely ignored Sophie and walked toward Lily. "Why didn't you tell me about this?"

Lily, his future sister-in-law, required sponsorship, and one simple request from her would have settled it all. Was it really necessary for her to come forward and ask on her own? How preposterous.

Lily gave a small nod. "The Harper family was our main sponsor before, but they pulled out after some minor problems." She didn’t go into what exactly had happened with them.

Mark glanced at the sponsors nearby. "Why are you all just standing there? This is a great opportunity—take it before it slips away."

Lily gently pulled at Mark. "I’ve already spoken with them earlier. We can go over the details later."

"Yes, yes, Mr. Gonzalez, we never said we wouldn’t provide sponsorship."

"Exactly, we’re all on board. After all, Ms. Roberts is incredibly talented—she’s sure to be a dark horse next year."

Mark nodded, clearly pleased. "Now that’s better. Lily is my friend—make sure everyone looks after her." After all, this was Dennis’s directive.

Suddenly, Lily realized that everyone around her was treating her much more favorably.

Sophie, seeing Mark by Lily’s side, was boiling with anger.

Why should Lily get all this attention? Unable to tolerate it, Sophie strutted over boldly and, in a playful tone, asked, "Lily, since when did you become so close to Mr. Gonzalez?"
