Chapter 161 David, This Time You Lost
When Lily said this, it caused quite a stir in the room.
David looked completely calm. "Lily, saying we plagiarized your content is just ridiculous! Our company has so many talented people - why would we need to plagiarize content from a small company like yours?"
"Why not?"
After Lily spoke, Delbert beside her also said indignantly, "That's right, we worked really hard on all of this."
David smiled. "You saw how excellent our presentation was, so now you're deliberately trying to smear us, right?"
Lily sneered. "Do I need to smear you?"
"Since you're so confident, do you have proof?" David said.
Delbert spoke up. "Yes, the content we prepared is the proof."
"That only proves that your content plagiarized ours!" David looked self-righteous as he stared at Lily. "Stop embarrassing yourself. If you want to win, do it with real ability, not these cheap tricks."
Lily said through gritted teeth, "I see - you businesspeople really do play dirty."
Seeing Lily's expression, David's mood improved considerably.
He said in a leisurely tone, "I warned you earlier - as long as you apologize to me and come back to me obediently, but you just wouldn't listen!"
Delbert, the person in charge at Maple Leaf Corporation, looked at Lily. "What's really going on here?"
"What else could it be? Lily must have some kind of relationship with David, so she deliberately leaked our ideas to climb the social ladder."
Delbert frowned. "Lily doesn't seem like that kind of person."
"Then she must have accidentally leaked it when she was with him!"
Lily turned to look at that colleague who always liked spreading rumors.
She said coldly, "Watch your mouth. I have nothing to do with him!"
"Then how do you explain why the stuff we made showed up in someone else's PPT!"
Lily looked over at Sophie and Austin. "You two really know how to scheme!"
Neither Sophie nor Austin dared to meet her eyes.
David said sternly, "Lily, winners and losers - the business world is a battlefield. That's the first lesson I'm teaching you. Remember it!"
A colleague from Maple Leaf Corporation stood up and said to the officials, "I'm not satisfied with this. I want to report Lily's illegal relationship with Mr. Roberts, which led to our company's confidential information being leaked!"
David stared at the man. "Talk nonsense and I'll sue you for defamation!"
"Am I wrong?"
"Although I really don't want to admit it, Lily is my sister whom I disowned! Sorry for the embarrassment, everyone. She's always been very competitive and will use any means to achieve her goals!"
After David explained his relationship with Lily, the colleague's expression kept changing.
Was Lily actually a rich young lady?
But Lily had never mentioned it before, never wore designer brands - there was no way to tell at all.
Delbert looked at Lily. "Is he really your brother?"
"Although I don't want to admit it either, he used to be my brother. But we've cut ties now - we have nothing to do with each other anymore!"
"Very good, that's what I think too. In that case, Lily, wait for a lawyer's letter about you slandering our company!" David was determined to make Lily back down today!
Lily clapped and smiled. "Really wonderful, but I have to tell you - you're the ones who should wait for a lawyer's letter!"
She turned to look at the official staff member. "Mr. Aubrey Hagen, you believe what I said now, right?"
The middle-aged man Aubrey nodded. "I understand."
David looked at Aubrey. "Mr. Hagen, my sister has always been a liar. She ran away from home in a tantrum, giving up the life of a rich young lady just to go against the family."
Aubrey pushed up his glasses. "But your sister showed me their ideas before the meeting started."
The smile finally disappeared from David's face.
What?
Lily had shown the ideas to Aubrey in advance - why didn't he know about this?
David instinctively looked at Sophie and Austin. Didn't they know?
Lily smiled faintly. "Don't bother looking. If those two idiots had known, we wouldn't have had that good show just now."
Did they really think she'd be careless enough to leave her laptop there with the document open?
She wasn't stupid!
But two idiots fell for it!
At this moment, Sophie realized she'd been tricked.
Lily had deliberately left the laptop there for her to see!
When Sophie realized this, she collapsed into her chair. What to do, what to do?
Everything was ruined now.
The situation reversed quickly.
Lily said with a half-smile, "I remember our event has rules - if anyone makes false claims, uses underhanded methods, or engages in unfair business competition, they'll be disqualified."
Only then did David realize that Lily had set him up, too.
Lily had acted so convincingly earlier just to trap him, and now he couldn't explain his way out of it.
David had come today full of confidence, determined to teach Lily a lesson.
But Sophie had stolen Lily's ideas and brought them back - they were indeed impressive, so he used Lily's ideas to be safe.
Also, to teach Lily a lesson!
But once caught breaking the rules, their company would lose its qualification.
David didn't want to lose!
He could lose this project, but he absolutely couldn't lose to Lily.
David looked at Aubrey and said, "There's more to this story. I can explain."
"Mr. Roberts, please return to your seat. Everyone still needs to continue presenting. As for your matter, we'll discuss it after the event ends," Aubrey said.
Only then did David reluctantly walk off the stage.
Lily walked up with her laptop, brushing past him.
She said lightly, "Winners and losers - thanks for demonstrating that yourself!"
David's steps paused, his expression very unpleasant.
He looked at Sophie with a terrifying gaze.
Sophie shrank back, cold sweat running down her back, her whole body trembling!
She'd caused big trouble this time!
Sophie looked at Lily on stage, her eyes full of venom. That bitch - why wouldn't she just fall into the trap! Why wouldn't she lose to her just once?
Why could she never beat Lily!
Why was God so unfair!
Lily stood on stage and opened the PPT. The content inside was completely different from what they'd prepared earlier!
Lily spoke eloquently on stage. Her ideas about artificial intelligence were very forward-thinking and creative!
Watching Lily's excellent presentation, David's face turned dark and gloomy.
Sure enough, Lily had already planned how to set up Sophie.
This time, he'd been too careless and underestimated Lily.
David watched the brilliant and confident Lily on stage, his feelings somewhat complex.
Lily really had grown a lot.
She used to be stubborn; now she's tough as nails!
Sophie beside him watched Lily, burning with jealousy.
Austin's expression wasn't much better. He regretted scheming against Lily with Sophie. Now Lily would never trust him again!
This was all Sophie's fault!
Twenty minutes later, Lily's excellent presentation ended.
The conference room was very quiet.
Aubrey stood up first and applauded. "Very excellent. Lily, your ideas are really good, but we didn't quite understand everything. We'll need to discuss it more later."
"Okay, sure." Lily breathed a slight sigh of relief. After all, she hadn't finished preparing this content - everything on stage just now was improvised.
The people from Maple Leaf Corporation were also stunned by Lily's performance.
Delbert looked at Lily. "When did you make this content?"
Lily's performance just now had been too good!
"I made it last night in a hurry.. It's not very polished, so I didn't have time to go over it with you all. After all, I didn't expect it would come in handy today!"
Only then did Delbert speak up confidently. "Mr. Hagen, how will you handle the Roberts Group's plagiarism?"
David's face darkened as he stared at Lily.
