Chapter 110 Revealing Barry's True Colors
Lily remembered the problems with her exam stationery before - it was most likely his doing.
In her past life, Barry had always stood on Sophie's side, bad-mouthing her to her brothers countless times!
Lily stepped forward and kicked the door open: "This old house was bought by my parents. I'm the only one who gets to decide whether to come back or not. You're just a servant - you'd better remember your place!"
Lily's tone was ice-cold. After speaking, she walked straight inside.
Barry was a bit surprised by how much Lily had suddenly changed. He quickly followed: "Ms. Roberts, this is Mr. David Roberts' instruction. I'm just following orders."
Lily walked into the hall. Michael was just coming down from upstairs. When he saw her, his face lit up: "Lily, you're back. I told the kitchen to prepare something good for you. Let's have dinner together later - it's been so long since we've eaten together."
"No need. Where's the acceptance letter?"
Lily's expression was cold, without a trace of warmth.
Michael gave a bitter smile: "It's in the study. Come upstairs with me to get it."
Lily followed him upstairs, but Michael went to her old room: "Lily, your room has been restored to how it was. Sophie has moved back to her own room, too. Take a look - if there's anything you're not happy with, I'll have someone fix it."
Lily glanced at the bedroom she used to live in.
Her face remained calm: "No need. I won't be coming back to live here anyway."
Michael sighed: "This is still the house Mom and Dad bought. This is the princess's room they left for you. It's yours for life - no one can replace you."
Lily turned and headed to the study: "Let's just talk business."
She wouldn't be moved by these small favors anymore.
Michael took out the red acceptance letter: "You're excellent - you got into Empire City University. If Mom and Dad knew, they'd be so happy."
"Don't use Mom and Dad as an excuse, or I'll just find it disgusting."
Lily glanced at the acceptance letter, only to discover the envelope had already been opened.
Her expression changed: "What gives you the right to open my mail?"
"Lily, I didn't open it. I knew this was your acceptance letter - of course, you should open it yourself."
Lily showed the envelope to Michael: "This is clearly opened. Are you blind?"
"Barry, come here!"
Michael also saw the marks. He found it strange too - he really hadn't opened the envelope.
After Barry appeared, Michael questioned him coldly: "Besides me, who else has been in the study and touched this envelope?"
Barry glanced at the envelope: "Mr. Michael Roberts, it's just an acceptance letter, right? As long as nothing's missing inside, it's fine."
Lily looked coldly at Barry: "Did you open it?"
"I was just curious what was inside an acceptance letter, so I accidentally opened it to take a look."
Hearing Barry's words, Lily didn't believe for a second that Barry did it.
It was probably Sophie's doing!
She turned to look at Michael: "Check the security footage."
If she didn't get justice today, she'd write her name backwards!
Michael quickly nodded: "Lily, I'll definitely investigate this thoroughly and give you an explanation!"
Lily's eyes were cold. She didn't need anyone else to give her an explanation.
She could give herself one!
Seeing things going badly, Barry quickly said, "No need to check the footage. It really was me. Blame me if you want."
"Barry, we haven't even checked the footage yet. Why are you so eager to confess? Who are you trying to cover for?"
Seeing this old guy made Lily's anger flare up.
Since he had to get in her way even as she was leaving, she wouldn't hold back.
Michael also noticed Barry's suspicious behavior. He looked at Barry: "Tell me the truth - who else has been in the study?"
Barry stammered, unable to get a word out for a long time.
Michael had already guessed what had happened. He shouted: "Where's Sophie? Tell her to get over here right now!"
"Miss Scott is in her room studying with her tutor. Let's wait until her lesson is over - it's not a big deal anyway!"
When Michael heard Barry say this, he was completely stunned.
He never imagined that even Barry would dare to treat Lily with such disrespect. From this, he could see how much Lily had suffered at home before.
Michael threw a cup at Barry: "I said, tell Sophie to get over here right now. Are you deaf?"
Barry was so scared, he quickly nodded and left the study.
Michael didn't dare look Lily in the eye: "Lily, I didn't expect this. Did Barry always treat you this way before?"
Lily leaned against the desk with a mocking expression: "I'm used to it. Nothing surprising!"
That casual sentence weighed heavily on Michael's heart, almost taking his breath away.
Lily said she was used to it!
Michael looked at the open envelope, trembling with anger!
Soon, Sophie walked in with Barry. She already knew what had happened.
Sophie's eyes were red as she said pitifully, "Michael, it's all my fault. I was curious what an acceptance letter from a prestigious university looked like, so I secretly opened it to take a peek. I swear I didn't touch anything inside!"
After hearing Sophie admit it, Michael almost collapsed into his chair, unable to say a word.
Seeing Sophie apologize with red eyes, he actually started to feel annoyed.
If this had happened before, wouldn't he have also thought this was a small matter, and that since Sophie had apologized, Lily shouldn't make a fuss?
The more Michael thought about it, the more his heart became!
If not for his indulgence, how would Sophie and Barry dare to do such things?
Michael's face was dark: "Sophie, apologize to Lily right now!"
Sophie turned to look at Lily and said insincerely, "Lily, I'm really sorry. My exam results were canceled this time, so I don't have any school to go to. I was so envious of your acceptance letter that I accidentally opened it to look. Please don't be angry, okay?"
"No!"
Lily's voice was flat, her eyes cold.
Sophie bit her lip and continued playing the victim: "As long as you're not angry, I'll do anything!"
Wasn't it just opening an acceptance letter to take a look?
She did it on purpose. Even though she didn't get accepted, she just wanted to annoy Lily.
Anyway, she could just apologize and shed a few tears, and everything would be fine.
"You said it yourself."
Lily raised her hand and slapped Sophie across the face with all her strength, until her hand went numb.
Sophie was stunned: "What are you doing?"
"Hitting you to vent my anger. Isn't that what you asked for?"
After speaking, Lily gave Sophie another slap, grabbed Sophie's hair forcefully, her eyes tinged with red: "I warned you not to touch my things again. Looks like you didn't learn your lesson!"
She could clearly see that Sophie did this on purpose to annoy her.
Sophie's face swelled up like a pig's head. She cried out for help: "Michael, save me!"
Michael watched this scene, his hands slowly clenching: "Sophie, you just said that as long as Lily could calm down, she could do anything. People should keep their word!"
Sophie was immediately speechless.
She had only said that to be polite - she didn't really mean it!
Barry stepped forward to pull Lily away: "Ms. Roberts, why are you hitting people? Miss Scott didn't even touch your things. Why are you being so petty? It was just opening an acceptance letter!"
