Chapter 216 This Is What They Call Poetic Justice
Lily looked at Peter in front of her, but they stared at each other like enemies.
Peter sneered, "You don't even remember, but I'll never forget it for the rest of my life."
"I have a clear conscience because I never did it!"
Lily was certain she had never done such a thing. When she was little, she obeyed Peter in everything and never dared to disobey him. How could she possibly have harmed him?
Sophie, standing nearby, panicked when she heard this. She couldn't let Peter speak about it.
Otherwise, what would she do?
Sophie quickly stepped forward and grabbed Peter's arm. "Peter, now's not the time to talk about this. We need to figure out how to handle this situation. It's all over the internet."
Peter couldn't lose his reputation.
At least not before she successfully broke into the entertainment industry.
Peter glanced at Sophie. "You're right."
The most important thing now was how to manage the crisis.
Peter immediately called his agent. "Get the most expensive PR team, handle this right away."
The agent was frantic. "I've already hired the strongest PR company from the Gonzalez family. They'll be on site soon. I'm sure they can handle this quickly."
"Then we should be fine. We'll just say Lily and I were rehearsing a scene. The live stream was just a little surprise we arranged for everyone in advance."
After speaking, Peter stared darkly at Lily. "You think your little trick will work? Dream on."
Sophie was thrilled. "Right, we'll say it was an early rehearsal. After all, Lily's just a newcomer. It makes perfect sense for you to train her privately, Peter."
That would explain everything.
After hanging up, Peter glared viciously at Lily. "Now that the live stream is off, how do you think I should repay you for this gift?"
Sophie deliberately said, "Peter, why don't you teach her a little lesson, but don't actually hurt her badly, or it'll be hard to explain to the media."
Sophie was worried that Peter might lose control when he got angry.
If Lily got hurt too badly, how would they explain to the media that it was just rehearsal?
But Peter shoved Sophie aside. "Is it your place to tell me what to do?"
Sophie fell straight to the ground, too hurt to speak. After all, Peter was different from her other brothers—he was a madman.
Peter walked up to Lily, his eyes cold. "Choose one. How do you want to die?"
Lily threw a punch and then kicked Peter away.
There was no way she was going to just stand there and take more beatings. Dream on!
After being kicked away, Peter's face twisted in pain. "Grab her! Lily, you're dead. You've completely pissed me off."
Lily pulled out pepper spray from her bag and sprayed it at the tattooed thugs closing in on her.
Soon, police sirens sounded outside.
When Peter heard them, he quickly sat up. "Lily, you called the police?"
Lily was a bit surprised too. She hadn't called the police—mainly because she hadn't had time.
But she wouldn't deny it. "Now you should think about how to explain this to the police."
Peter knew things had gotten serious. He should have left earlier, or he wouldn't be trapped here by the police.
Peter grabbed Sophie's hand. "Go stall the police. You know what to say, right?"
"I know. Peter, you go first."
Sophie least wanted Peter to get in trouble.
The tattooed thugs helped Peter up, and he limped away a few steps, then looked back at Lily. "This isn't over. I won't go easy on you anymore."
Lily sneered. "Right back at you."
After watching Peter leave, she finally sat down on the ground. It really hurt.
She saw Peter trying to leave through the back, so she told the police rushing in, "He's over there, trying to run."
The tattooed thugs with Peter immediately took him another way, but they accidentally fell into an abandoned sewer.
Lily heard Peter's screams and felt her pain lessen considerably.
Karma really does exist.
Suddenly, the sound of a helicopter came from above the abandoned building.
Lily looked up at the dark night sky and could vaguely see the helicopter's shadow, like something from a movie.
Dennis got off the helicopter with a stern face.
Eric followed beside him. "Everyone split up and search."
Lily heard footsteps upstairs. She was a bit worried they might not be police, so she wanted to go downstairs first.
But when she stood up and walked to the stairwell, she saw many people appear around her.
Dennis walked at the front of the group. When he saw Lily covered in injuries, his pupils contracted sharply.
He quickened his pace to reach Lily, his voice hoarse. "Why didn't you call me?"
He had only found out what happened when he saw Lily's live stream notification.
Lily forced a smile. "It happened suddenly."
Besides, she had only guessed that the person eavesdropping outside was Sophie—she wasn't completely sure. Peter was extremely sensitive to cameras and such. One wrong move and he would notice. She only had one chance.
"I'll take you to the hospital first."
Dennis swallowed all the words he wanted to say and moved to hold Lily in his arms.
"I'll go to the hospital later. I need to go to the police station first. The media should be there by now, right?"
This was the opportunity she'd been waiting for.
Lily pushed Dennis's hands away. "Don't worry, these are just surface wounds. I dodged the vital areas like you taught me."
Dennis saw her swollen red arms and felt heartbroken.
He was a bit angry. "Lily, why don't you take better care of yourself?"
Lily covered her injuries. She had no choice—to deal with Peter, she needed to strike a fatal blow.
She limped forward, and Dennis walked over to support her shoulder.
Dennis's tone was somewhat angry. "Watch where you're going, don't fall and crack your head open."
"...Can you say something less scary?"
Eric walked behind them, shining a flashlight to light their way.
When Lily walked outside the abandoned building, the police came over immediately. "You should go to the hospital first."
Lily said flatly, "I need to document my injuries."
Dennis frowned. "That also requires going to the hospital."
Lily looked around and didn't see any media, feeling a bit disappointed.
Dennis led her directly to the car, his tone commanding. "You want to use the media to amplify this incident. I'll arrange it for you after we get to the hospital. Right now, the most important thing is to go to the hospital. Understand?"
Lily nodded. "Okay."
At that moment, Sophie walked over.
She looked at Lily. "Doing this will only make the Roberts family hate you more. I didn't expect you to be so ruthless. Aren't you Peter's real sister?"
Sophie was completely distraught now. She knew Peter was doomed this time.
Lily stared coldly at Sophie, then said to the police, "She was involved too. She deliberately provoked the relationship between Peter and me and incited Peter to attack me."
"Lily, what are you talking about?" Sophie's voice instantly became shrill.
But the police came forward and took Sophie away. She shouted back, "Lily, David will definitely get me out."
Lily sneered. Not necessarily.
David was the kind of self-serving person who, when his interests were threatened, might do anything.
Soon, Peter and the tattooed thugs with him were all brought out.
All the tattooed thugs were wearing handcuffs.
Peter was lying on a stretcher, apparently seriously injured, his face covered in blood.
Lily deliberately walked over, and when she saw Peter's face, she was startled.
Was he hurt this badly?
Peter's eyes were bloodshot. "Lily, what are you looking at? If my face is scarred, I'll fight you to the death!"
