Chapter 208: If I Want to Hit You, Do I Need to Pick a Day?
Lily looked at Peter and finally understood what this whole show was about today
Did they want to force her into agreeing not to press charges?
Lily sneered, "Of course I won't press charges."
Peter showed a satisfied smile. He knew Lily was smart and knew what to say and what not to say.
Lily pushed Peter away. "Because I'm not the one pressing charges anyway. Austin stole trade secrets, and it's Maple Leaf Corporation that's pressing charges."
The smile on Peter's face faded. He didn't expect Lily to be so uncooperative.
Lily picked up the confetti cannon that had been aimed at her, stomped on it, crushing it; then, she gave those crazy fans a cold look and walked straight out.
Seeing the crushed cannon, Austin's fans didn't dare to stop Lily.
Peter had someone remove Austin's fans, then went after Lily. "Stop. Did I say you could leave?"
Peter's face looked terrible. "Sophie apologized last night, and I talked to David, too. They both know what they did was wrong. I just gave you a way out back there, what more do you want?"
"I should be the one saying that. The public doesn't know David was involved. If it gets exposed, do you think your Best Actor nomination will survive?" Lily emphasizing that he was only a nominee hit Peter's sore spot.
Peter's face turned dark. "Lily, are you threatening me? You really have grown up, not even listening to me anymore."
Lily didn't back down this time. "I'm saying this for your own good. Stay out of this mess ."
"I'm just trying to keep our family peaceful. David was wrong. I'll make him apologize to you. Just tell me what you want as compensation, and I can make it happen."
Lily sneered, "I want you to stay away from me."
She turned to leave, but Peter still wouldn't give up and followed her. "Do you think the media will believeyou, or believe what I— a big star, say if you try to expose me?"
"You can try and see."
"Lily, if you dare to walk away, your good class monitor and good roommate won't have it easy."
Lily stopped in her tracks. How annoying.
She turned back to look at Peter, her tone sarcastic. "Since we were kids, besides using violence to threaten me, what else can you do?"
"Lily, say that again if you dare?" Peter's face looked even worse as he stepped forward and grabbed Lily's wrist tightly.
But Lily broke free easily. She was strong, and Peter couldn't control her at all.
Peter was still not used to it. After all, since childhood, only Lily had been the most obedient and afraid of him.
Lily's expression was cold. "Now you can't beat me anymore."
And she wouldn't just stand there and take it either.
Peter's tone carried malice. "Then aren't you afraid something will happen to the people around you?"
"Mr. Peter Roberts, have you forgotten that the TV series you recently aired, and the upcoming movie script were both written by me? But they have your and Sophie's names on them. You haven't forgotten, right?"
Peter narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean? The scripts were written by all of us together, not your achievement alone."
"That line might work if you're fooling yourself. If I show everyone the chat records and call recordings of you asking me to write scripts before, your talented Best Actor nominee image won't hold up, will it?"
"Lily, you wouldn't dare!" Peter shouted.
Lily's expression was cold. "If you dare touch the people around me, then let's see if I dare."
Her eyes carried mockery as she turned and left the campus.
She breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed Peter really cared about this year's Best Actor selection.
Lily went to the gym; she needed to improve herself as quickly as possible.
What she said just now would indeed make Peter wary, but Peter held grudges the most and would definitely find a way to deal with her.
But this time, she absolutely would not compromise.
After a few peaceful days, when Lily went to the team base, she found a film crew shooting there.
She saw Peter sitting under a sun umbrella wearing sunglasses, and her mood immediately soured.
Lily knew Peter would definitely find a way to force her to submit.
He was like a ghost that wouldn't leave her alone.
When Peter saw Lily, he immediately stood up. "My dear sister, you're finally here. Do you want to act? I can arrange a role for you."
"No need. Who let you film at the team base?"
"The school allowed it. I already cleared it with the school authorities. I'm planning to film a sweet youth campus drama about Empire Team." Peter smiled, as if the argument from a few days ago had never happened.
Lily realized why it had been so quiet these past few days. He was waiting for her here.
"Lily, come do a cameo too. Our whole family can appear together."
Sophie was wearing a very innocent plaid short skirt school uniform with her hair in a ponytail, looking even more fake.
Lily kept a straight face. "Who's family with you people?"
Sophie stepped forward and took Lily's hand. "Lily, I know you're still mad at me..."
"Get lost!" Lily shook off Sophie's hand, and Sophie fell to the ground as if on cue.
People nearby all looked over.
Just as Sophie was about to accuse Lily with tears in her eyes, Peter pulled Sophie up and smiled. "How did you lose your balance and fall?"
Sophie shrank back. "Lily accidentally pushed me."
"How is that possible? Lily doesn't have that much strength to push you down. You must have lost your balance, right?"
Peter stared at Sophie, his eyes carrying a warning.
Finally, Sophie nodded and answered quietly, "I lost my balance myself."
"That's right." Peter's smile widened as he turned to look at Lily. "See, this time I'm on your side. Don't say I'm biased anymore."
Lily just found it ridiculous.
She raised her hand and slapped Sophie across the face.
Sophie screamed, "What are you doing?"
"I'm slapping you. Do I need a reason?"
Don't think she didn't know what Sophie was trying to do with that fake fall.
Lily turned and walked into the team base. If they wanted her to play along, that wasimpossible.
Outside, Peter quickly had his agent explain to the fans that they were just rehearsing a scene, not actually having a conflict.
Sophie stood beside Peter, looking pitiful. "Peter, there's a mark on my face. I can't film today."
"I know. Take today off, we'll film tomorrow." Peter's tone was gentle. "If your fans and classmates ask about what just happened, you know what to say, right?"
"I know."
"Good girl. If only Lily were as obedient as you. Looks like I need to find a way to teach Lily a proper lesson."
Peter's tone became much colder.
Sophie took the opportunity to say, "Peter, you told people Lily and I were rehearsing, but what if they find out she's not in the show? Why not arrange a role for her?"
While acting, she'd have plenty of chances to get revenge.
"Good point."
"But I'm afraid Lily won't agree."
Peter's tone was domineering. "She doesn't get to disagree."
Soon, Lily received a call from school leadership, requiring her to cooperate with Peter's request and take on a role.
As the team captain, Lily had no way to refuse.
Unless she gave up being captain.
But why should she give up her dream because of the Roberts family?
Peter pushed open the office door and looked down at Lily. "I told you, there are many ways to make someone obedient. So tell me, are you going to cooperate or not?"
