Chapter 190: Lily, Do You Want to Exterminate Completely
Lily covered her nose in disgust and looked back at Dennis, "You should go."
"Lily, you're so eager to get rid of him. Are you feeling guilty? Afraid your poor boyfriend will find out you're someone's sugar baby?" Sophie mocked.
Lily turned around and looked at the drunk Sophie, "You keep going on about sugar babies - sounds like you're an expert."
Lily, stop changing the subject. You're just feeling guilty." Sophie finished speaking and looked at Dennis in the car, "You don't need to look so upset. Lily cheated on you. Mr. Murphy is keeping her as his sugar baby, and he even gave her shares in Maple Leaf Corporation.
Dennis narrowed his eyes slightly when he heard this.
He was the one who gave Lily those shares.
Sophie said smugly, "A poor school doctor like you could never earn that much money in your lifetime. You're just her boy toy. But you do look pretty good. If you come with me, I can give you even more money."
She just couldn't stand seeing Lily two-timing while having men completely devoted to her.
Ethan had been called back by his mom and didn't even dare answer her calls.
Sophie hiccupped. If she wasn't doing well, she'd make sure Lily suffered too.
She wanted to take everything from Lily, including Lily's men.
She looked at Dennis, "How about it? I'm the better deal!"
How much money could Lily give this man? She was the most favored rich young lady of the Roberts family.
"Sophie, are you crazy?" Lily pulled Sophie away and slapped her across the face, "Haven't you had enough of getting hit today?"
Sophie fell straight onto her butt, her head buzzing.
Lily took out her phone to film Sophie, "If you're drunk and desperate for a man, go straight to a hotel. Don't come here acting crazy!"
Sophie was about to curse, but when she saw Lily recording a video, she scrambled up from the ground in panic, "Delete that video."
"Get lost. Believe it or not, I'll post this on the school forum right now and let all those guys chasing you see what you look like when you're drunk. Let's see if you can keep up that innocent beauty act."
Sophie sobered up a bit from the scare and turned to slink away.
Lily put down her phone and looked back at Dennis, "She's just drunk and acting crazy. I'm heading back to the dorm before curfew."
Dennis nodded and watched her walk into the school.
Thinking about what Sophie had just said, he called Eric directly, his tone somewhat cold, "What did David say?"
"I was just about to tell you about this. They seem to have misunderstood my relationship with Lily. They said I'm keeping her as my sugar baby, and David even wanted to negotiate terms with me. What kind of trash thinks he can threaten me?"
Dennis's face darkened terribly, "Make the Roberts family brothers' theft of trade secrets public. The worse the impact, the better."
"Got it. We need to help Lily get some payback."
Eric thought for a moment, "As a good friend, let me remind you. Over time, people will discover your identity. Have you figured out how to explain this to Lily?"
As long as Lily was in Empire City, she would run into people who knew Dennis.
It was only a matter of time. This day would come sooner or later.
Dennis's throat moved slightly, "I know."
But he didn't know how to bring it up with Lily.
He was worried that once Lily knew who he really was, they might not even be able to stay friends.
Everything now was stolen by him.
"Anyway, think it through. You can't hide the truth forever." Eric hung up after saying this.
Dennis rolled down the car window and couldn't help lighting a cigarette. He looked at the night sky outside, his thoughts tangled like threads into a knot that couldn't be undone.
His fingers held the cigarette as the red ember burned down.
His phone chimed, bringing him back to his senses. He saw a message from Lily: ["Are you home yet?"]
Dennis stubbed out the cigarette and typed back: ["Almost."]
The corners of his mouth unconsciously curved upward, though he didn't even notice it himself.
Lily was already lying in her dorm bed and sent him a photo of herself applying medicated patches: ["You wrecked my arm. I had to put on several patches this time."]
Otherwise, tomorrow when she woke up, her arms and legs probably wouldn't feel like her own.
Dennis's car stopped at a red light. He instinctively grabbed his phone, and after seeing her message, his eyes darkened considerably.
He rested one hand on the car window and replied: ["I didn't wreck anything."]
Lily replied with a string of ellipses.
Dennis glanced at it, tossed his phone aside, and drove home in a good mood.
Lily thought back on his reply and couldn't help sending an emoji of a pig getting beaten up.
Her earlier comment hadn't been ambiguous at all.
The next day, Lily was woken up by a phone call.
She had no morning classes and had planned to sleep in.
After being woken up, her tone was very unpleasant: "Who is it?"
"Lily, I didn't expect you to be so ruthless, that you had to destroy me completely. I already took all the blame. Why did you have to expose it to the media? Won't you be satisfied until you've completely ruined me?" Austin's voice carried grief and anger.
Lily sat up and yawned, "Are you sick? When did I expose anything to the media?"
"Look at the news in the esports circle right now. Who else but you would do this?"
When Austin saw this news, he knew his career was basically completely ruined.
Sponsors kept calling him, demanding that he terminate their contracts.
The team manager told him that quite a few team members were thinking about quitting.
Austin was furious, "Lily, I admit I did wrong before. Even if I go to jail, I accept it. Why did you have to go this far?"
Lily opened her phone and indeed saw the news Austin was talking about.
[The Roberts Group is suspected of stealing trade secrets. Esports big shot actually gets involved in theft personally.]
She glanced at the content of the report.
It mainly talked about how Austin stole trade secrets from David's company. It didn't specify what secrets, and didn't mention her name.
But David's company, now exposed with this scandal, saw its stock price plummet directly.
After reading it, Lily said coolly, "Whether you believe it or not, I didn't do this."
"Who else would do this besides you?"
"If that's what you insist on believing, then there's nothing I can do. After all, the content of the report isn't fake - it's all true."
Lily didn't want to explain too much. Let him misunderstand if he wants.
After all, the misunderstandings the Roberts family had about her weren't limited to just one or two things!
"Lily, I don't owe you anything anymore after all these years. We're even!" Austin hung up after saying this.
Lily looked at her phone with a mocking expression.
But she also found it strange - who actually did this?
She forwarded the news directly to Eric and called him, "Did you arrange this?"
Eric was the only person Lily could think of.
"How did you know?"
Eric felt somewhat awkward. Had Lily discovered something?
"Besides you, I can't think of anyone else with this kind of capability right now. But if you do this, Ethan will probably come looking for trouble with you."
After all, Sophie would definitely go to Ethan.
"That Ethan guy - you don't need to worry about him at all."
Eric paused, "You know who I am now?"
"Yes, Dennis told me."
Eric?
What? That Dennis guy, to keep his secret, threw his friend under the bus. Fine, fine, fine!
"Lily, who I am isn't important. After all, we're friends. If Ethan bullies you, just tell me."
Lily smiled. Ethan couldn't really bully her anyway.
She suddenly blurted out, "So, how did you and Dennis meet? What did he do before?"
