Chapter 165 She Won
Lily sneered. So they wanted to use force?
That was totally David's style.
They were the ones who did wrong, yet they insisted on forcing her to go with them, not giving her any chance to refuse.
"What are you doing?"
A group of Lily's colleagues gathered behind her. Delbert walked to the front and looked at Geraldo, saying, "In broad daylight, are you trying to kidnap her?"
Geraldo's expression changed. "I'm just here to take Ms. Roberts home."
"She doesn't want to go. None of you can force her to leave, or we'll call the police."
Ethan was only at school every few days, supposedly often hanging out at bars.
She turned to look at her colleagues. "Thanks, guys."
"No problem. We just happened to get off work and ran into this. Of course, we had to protect you."
Lily watched her colleagues leave, feeling a bit better.
Since leaving the Roberts family, the people she met were all much more normal.
Lily also took a cab back to school.
Upstairs.
Dennis returned to his office and picked up a pen to sign the contract.
Eric glanced over. "You're personally handing her a listed company. That's quite generous."
The AI project was excellent with great prospects.
With Dennis secretly supporting it, once the project successfully went public, Lily could soon become a partner worth a fortune.
By then, Lily might only be 20 years old.
"She's never had real money. How is this generous?"
Dennis looked at Lily's name on the contract - very neat handwriting.
He noticed Lily's attitude earlier. She was keeping her distance from him!
Before the car accident, Lily had clearly been very dependent on him.
Dennis put the contract in the safe and said flatly, "Send a lawyer's letter to the Roberts Group!"
Although he wasn't at the scene today, he knew what happened.
But he didn't expect Lily to set up her own trap. She had grown a lot now.
After Lily returned to her dorm, she went straight to the gym to practice boxing.
She was a bit distracted while practicing, her mind constantly thinking about Dennis quitting his job!
He actually stayed in Empire City?
She thought that after he went back, they would rarely have chances to meet.
The coach spoke up. "Lily, you're not in good form today."
Lily lay on the ground. "A bit tired."
"Let's stop here for today. Just do some warm-up exercises, we won't practice more to avoid you getting injured!"
Lily nodded. She drank some water and rested.
She returned to the dorm to change clothes, preparing to go to the team base for a meeting.
After all, she was the team captain now.
Zoey saw her come out of the bathroom. "Poppy and I already had a meeting to discuss the team's current problems. We've organized everything. When you get there, we can see what to do."
"You already had a meeting?"
"Yeah, I knew you had work to handle this afternoon. Things at the base are pretty messy, so Poppy and I discussed it first."
"Thanks. The team's biggest problem right now is the Harper family stopping their sponsorship, right?"
"Right. We had other companies sponsoring us too, but the Harper family probably contacted them, so the other companies also stopped sponsoring."
Lily wasn't surprised by this result.
When Lily arrived at the base, there weren't many people there.
It seemed very empty.
Poppy spoke up. "Samantha put out word that anyone who stays on the team is going against her, going against the business school!"
Lily sneered. "I have a way to solve this! How much money do we need?"
"The finals are this weekend. Every year, we buy tickets for everyone to watch the match, buy support shirts, and even invite team members to come interact with everyone. We need about a hundred thousand dollars."
"Give me the account number. Let's buy tickets for this weekend's match first!"
Poppy asked in surprise, "Your own money?"
"Yes, use it for now. I'll figure out the rest later!"
She had wanted to talk to Eric about sponsorship before, but didn't get the chance that day.
Now that she was a partner at Maple Leaf Corporation, could she have that privilege?
After the meeting, Lily felt they still needed to recruit new members!
"Let's set up a booth tomorrow to recruit!"
Lily took out her phone and messaged the lawyer. [Tomorrow is the final deadline!]
After she got back to the dorm, she received a message from Dennis.
[The coach at that gym isn't professional. You could easily get injured. I'll introduce you to a new place.]
Lily looked at this message in the chat window.
The last time they chatted was several days ago, when he asked where she was going after leaving the hospital, and she said the gym.
Then they hadn't been in contact.
But he was criticizing her coach.
Lily replied, [No need, this coach is good. He used to be a professional athlete.]
[Professional athletes don't necessarily know how to teach. Can you even handle a few rounds?]
Lily could almost imagine his expression when saying this.
She replied with a string of ellipses.
Then turned off her phone and went to sleep.
Dennis saw Lily's ellipses reply. His slender fingers tapped the screen. Not taking advice, huh?
She was getting bolder and bolder.
The next day, when Lily woke up, the first thing she did was check her phone.
But Dennis hadn't replied.
She yawned and went out to recruit for the club. But as soon as she arrived at the recruitment booth, a crowd gathered around.
People wanted Lily's autograph and photos with her.
Poppy laughed. "Lily, if we'd known you were this useful, we should have had you sit here yesterday."
Just then, the crowd suddenly parted to make way.
People from the business school appeared.
The leader wasn't Samantha, but Ethan.
Ethan was at school only every few days, supposedly often hanging out at bars.
Ethan yawned, looking half-asleep. "Lily, did you bully Sophie again last night?"
Sophie had called him crying, ruining his fun.
Lily sat on a stool, her tone calm. "What, want to fight?"
Ethan instinctively stepped back. "Don't be so arrogant. Samantha put out word that no one will dare join the team. You should quit as captain early, so you don't affect the base's recruitment."
"That was yesterday. Today is different."
"How is today different? Did the sun rise in the west?"
As soon as Ethan finished speaking, Samantha walked over, looking very unwilling.
Ethan gloated on the side. "Lily, speak of the devil! I told you that you won't recruit a single person today!"
Lily looked at Samantha with a half-smile.
Samantha bit her lip, then looked up at the people around. "Everyone, listen up. I don't care which club you want to join, and I won't stop you!"
Everyone around was shocked.
Ethan said in disbelief, "Samantha, did you take the wrong medicine today?"
Wasn't Samantha making threats just yesterday?
How could she be eating her words so fast today?
"None of your business!"
Samantha glared at Ethan, then came in front of Lily, her eyes full of resentment!
She really wanted to strangle this bitch Lily!
