Chapter 162 Do You Really Have to Be So Clear with David
Lily met David's gaze directly, the corners of her mouth curling up slightly.
She said, "Let's wait until the event is over. There's no rush. With so many people watching, the plagiarizing bastard won't be able to get away with it!"
"Lily, watch your mouth!" David said angrily.
How dare she call him a plagiarizing bastard!
Using Lily's ideas wasn't part of his original plan—it was just a last-minute change.
Lily just gave a mocking laugh and returned to her seat with her colleagues.
The rest of the companies continued their presentations.
Lily's performance left everyone at Maple Leaf Corporation completely shocked.
The man who had questioned Lily earlier now hung his head low, not daring to say a word.
Delbert tentatively spoke up, "Lily, Mr. Roberts over there is still your brother. Are you really planning to pursue this to the end?"
Who would have thought Lily was actually a rich young lady, yet so hardworking and smart, leaving no room for ordinary people to survive!
Lily replied coldly, "I told you we've cut ties. He and I have nothing to do with each other."
Delbert looked at Lily's expression, "But he's still your brother."
"Yeah, and he's so rich, too. Isn't it a shame to cut ties?"
Other people would dream of having a rich brother!
Lily grew somewhat impatient, "I don't need you all to lecture me. Besides, I'm the technical lead for this project, and I must pursue this plagiarism of our company's work to the end!"
Lily's tone was rather forceful.
Delbert had no choice but to shut up.
Just then, Lily's phone buzzed.
She opened it and glanced at a message from Austin: [Lily, this has nothing to do with David. Can you please not pursue this? I'm begging you.]
A mocking look flashed in Lily's eyes. Is he begging her?
He sounded so wronged, so reluctant!
Lily looked up and met Austin's gaze. With a cold expression, she deleted the message without even thinking of replying.
Seeing Lily's expression, Austin knew she hadn't agreed.
David turned his head to look at Sophie and Austin, "You two better figure out how to explain this to me!"
He had worked so hard on this project, only to be crushed and humiliated by Lily like this!
He couldn't swallow this!
If they hadn't used what Sophie brought back, none of this would have happened!
After the meeting ended, Aubrey took the lead and said a few words, and then it was over.
But no one had left yet—after all, the Roberts Group's plagiarism issue still hadn't been resolved!
Everyone wanted to see how it would turn out!
Lily watched as David stood up with a stern face, leading Sophie and Austin out.
Outside.
David was somewhat angry, "How are you two going to handle this? Didn't you realize Lily was deliberately setting a trap?"
Two idiots!
Sophie explained through tears, "David, I was also tricked by Lily."
Austin stared at Sophie, "You were the one who got tricked. When I found out, I should have stopped you instead of being convinced by you to go along with it!"
Sophie's hands trembled.
Her voice carried a sob, "David, I was possessed at the time. Seeing how hard you've been working lately, and having to deal with the Harper family because of Lily's situation, I thought if Lily failed, she'd realize how hard it is to make it on her own and would come back to the Roberts family. I'm sorry, David. Austin and I didn't mean it."
David angrily tugged at his tie, "What am I supposed to say to you two? Just figure out how to fix this!"
Austin looked at Sophie in surprise, then said, "David, this has nothing to do with me! It was Sophie who secretly photographed Lily's computer!"
"Yes, this is all my fault. I did it. It has nothing to do with Austin." Sophie shrank back, looking pitiful.
David glanced at Sophie, then looked at Austin with some dissatisfaction, "You're her brother. How can you shirk responsibility when something happens and let Sophie take all the blame?"
"No, no, David, this really has nothing to do with me. It wasn't me!"
"You two came together just now. Although Sophie did most of the talking, you knew about it and participated in this. Now that things have been exposed, you're saying it has nothing to do with you?"
After hearing David's words, Austin felt terrible.
He really didn't do it—this was all Sophie's idea!
Austin looked at Sophie, "You tell him. Explain to David whether you did this alone. I even tried to stop you!"
Sophie pressed her lips together and answered softly, "Yes, that's right, David. I did all this."
David pulled Sophie over, "Alright, don't be afraid of Austin. I've got your back. You don't have to take all the blame."
Sophie nodded obediently, "If Lily insists on pursuing this, then let her pursue me alone. Don't let it affect Austin's future."
"Sophie, what are you talking about?" Austin looked at Sophie in disbelief. This had nothing to do with him!
But in David's eyes, he was also an accomplice!
Lily walked over with a smile, "So, have you figured out how to handle this? Everyone's waiting."
David's face was stern as he lowered his voice, "Lily, I didn't expect you to play such dirty tricks."
"Didn't you teach me this? I'm learning pretty fast, aren't I?" Lily's face carried a smile. "Mr. Roberts, you should think about how to resolve this. Let me learn from you, too. Though I probably won't need to!"
"You!" David was furious.
Sophie hid behind David, not daring to speak or face Lily.
David swallowed his anger. "Lily, what exactly do you want?"
"Me? Didn't you just say you'd definitely have lawyers pursue this to the end? I'm learning from you. Have the lawyers pursue it to the end!" Lily's tone was unhurried, her eyes calm.
David gritted his teeth, "I'll give you money as compensation. Let's just drop this."
"Unfortunately, I think having you punished and losing your qualification for this bid is more worthwhile."
"Lily, don't go too far!"
Lily covered her mouth and deliberately raised her voice, "I'm going too far? I'm just following the rules and regulations. How is that going too far?"
"Lily, Sophie, and Austin didn't mean it. They just got confused for a moment. You're not going to pursue their responsibility over such a small matter, are you?"
"You mean they got confused and accidentally sat in front of my computer, carefully flipped through my ideas page by page, then meticulously photographed them, then specifically found you, contributed my ideas to you, and you spent time incorporating my ideas, turned them into a PPT, and accidentally presented it? That kind of confusion?"
Lily's face turned cold. "I'm afraid you think the real problem is that they were accidentally discovered, and now with solid evidence, they're facing consequences, right?"
David was so angry he could explode!
Yet he couldn't refute it.
"Lily, do you have to be so infuriating? I've been working abroad for years and didn't realize you'd turned out like this."
David remembered Lily being quite obedient and well-behaved as a child.
Now Lily was cold and somewhat forceful.
Only then did David realize that Lily was truly no longer the timid and cowardly sister she used to be.
David softened his tone, "As long as you don't pursue this, what do you want? Lily, no matter how many conflicts we've had, we're still family. Can't we talk about this?"
A sarcastic smile played at the corners of Lily's mouth. Now he wants to talk about being family?
Her voice was indifferent, "There's nothing to talk about!"
Lily knew David's tactics.
This kind of thing had happened countless times before!
Lily turned to look at Aubrey, "I demand that the Roberts Group's bidding qualification be revoked!"
"Lily, you actually dare!"
