Chapter 142 Lily, You Maniac
But that girl had just left. Given Dennis's personality, he probably wouldn't text her so quickly, right?
So it must be someone else?
She needed to ask Eric.
Olivia called Eric. "Mr. Murphy, the girl who was in the car accident with Dennis—is she the one I saw yesterday?"
"No, I'm not stupid enough to keep her at this hospital. That would be walking right into a trap for you guys to find her, wouldn't it? You should ask Dennis about this. I'm not saying anything." Eric hung up right after speaking and patted his chest. That was close!
Lily took a cab straight back to school.
The first thing she did when she got to campus was call Sophie. "Have you been sleeping well these past couple of days?"
"Lily, is that you? Why are you calling me?" Sophie asked in surprise.
Lily's tone was cheerful. "Just catching up. After all, we're family—blood is thicker than water."
"I... I have class soon. I don't have time to catch up with you." Sophie had a bad feeling about this. If Lily were confronting her directly, she'd actually feel more at ease.
But Lily's tone made Sophie very uneasy.
Lily laughed. "Not coming? Well then, I guess I'll just have to release the evidence I have!"
"What evidence? You have a backup? No, wait—if you had a backup, you would've used it already."
"School rooftop. Be there."
Lily hung up without explaining anything to Sophie.
But she was betting that Sophie's guilty conscience would make her show up.
Lily went straight to the rooftop of the business school building. It wasn't locked, and there were lounge chairs and tables that the rich kids had set up there.
Clearly, life at the business school was pretty comfortable.
Lily walked over to the rooftop railing. The barrier wasn't very high. The wind was strong here. One step forward and she could fall.
Just then, Sophie quietly came up to the rooftop.
When Sophie saw Lily standing at the edge of the rooftop, a crazy idea suddenly popped into her head. What if Lily fell from here and died?
Then no one would know about the evidence Lily had, right?
That way, she wouldn't get kicked out by the Roberts family.
Once the idea formed, it took over.
Sophie held her breath and tiptoed closer to Lily. Just one hard push, and Lily would definitely fall.
She only had one chance.
Sophie didn't want to miss it. She didn't want to go through what happened at the café again.
Michael's attitude was proof enough—as soon as the evidence was shown to the Roberts family, she'd be abandoned immediately!
Sophie quickly got behind Lily and pushed hard.
But the next second, Lily dodged to the side.
Sophie missed completely, and her body went straight over the railing.
At that moment, Lily reached out and grabbed Sophie's hair, but half of Sophie's body was still hanging over the edge.
If Lily let go, Sophie would fall.
Sophie desperately grabbed onto the railing, screaming in terror. "Lily, don't let go!"
Sophie struggled frantically. She didn't want to die!
Lily laughed, standing by the railing, watching Sophie's face turn red as she struggled. "Sophie, if I'm not mistaken, you just tried to push me off, so no one would know what evidence I have, right?"
"I... I didn't! I just wanted to say hi!" Sophie's voice was tearful. She really didn't want to die!
Lily patted Sophie's face, her tone eerie. "You think I'd believe you?"
"But if something happens to me here, you won't get away with it either. My friends from business school know I came to the rooftop to meet you. If I die, you'll be a murderer!"
"Threatening me?"
Lily let go. Sophie screamed and grabbed the railing, her feet barely finding purchase on the ledge sticking out below. She barely avoided falling.
Sophie shrieked hysterically, "Lily, are you crazy?"
Sophie was so scared that tears and snot were running down her face. Her whole body was shaking. She'd almost died just now!
Lily actually let go. This bitch really wanted her dead!
Lily sneered. "Originally, I just wanted to live my own life, but you just won't leave me alone. So from now on, I'm playing your game."
"What do you want?" Sophie was on the verge of breaking down. Lily was insane!
Lily turned and grabbed a bottle of drink, pouring it over Sophie's head. "I want to destroy you."
"Lily, I was wrong! I'll never do it again. But that day at the bar, Samantha really forced me. You know Samantha's temper—I didn't dare disobey!" Sophie was terrified now.
All Lily had to do was push her hands away, and she'd be dead.
Seeing Sophie begging for mercy, Lily suddenly felt a bit bored. In her past life, she'd actually been killed by this two-faced idiot.
Was it because she couldn't act like Sophie? Couldn't be two-faced and manipulative?
Lily stepped on Sophie's hand and said flatly, "I can pull you up, but you have to do something for me."
"Just tell me what! I'll agree to anything! Don't kill me, please!" Sophie quickly agreed.
"You know David invested a lot of money in Michael's company's AI project, right?"
Sophie nodded frantically. "Yes, I know."
"I want you to steal the AI data that David has and give it to me."
Lily pressed down harder with her foot. Sophie quickly nodded. "Okay, I promise! David never guards against me!"
Only then did Lily lift her foot.
Sophie immediately felt relieved and reached out to Lily. "Pull me up then. I can't get up on my own."
Lily looked at Sophie's hand with disgust and handed her the bottle instead.
Sophie climbed up awkwardly and sat on the ground, still shaken. She looked up and cursed at Lily, "You think I'll actually do it? Dream on!"
She'd only agreed to Lily's terms to save her life.
The more Sophie thought about it, the angrier she got. She stood up and charged at Lily. "How dare you humiliate me! Lily, I'm not done with you!"
Lily grabbed Sophie's hair and slammed her to the ground.
She slapped Sophie twice, leaving her dazed!
Lily grabbed Sophie's chin. "I knew you'd go back on your word! But didn't I say I still have evidence?"
"I don't believe you! You don't have any evidence at all!"
"But you still came, which means you have a guilty conscience." Lily pulled out her phone and opened a photo—a screenshot from surveillance footage.
It showed Sophie holding up the spray, drugging her.
When Sophie saw this photo, she went cold all over. Lily really did have evidence!
Sophie stammered, "Why didn't you give this to my brothers? Why did you ask me here instead? What do you really want?"
"Because what I want has changed. You steal the data David has, and I want Maple Leaf Corporation to win!" Lily stared at Sophie. "Now you have a choice—do what I say, or I release the evidence right now?"
"Don't release it, please! I'll do what you say!" Sophie was truly scared of this crazy woman!
She could only agree for now.
Only then did Lily slowly stand up. "I'll be waiting for that data."
Lily left the rooftop without looking back.
She sneered and deleted the photo from her phone. It was just a Photoshopped image anyway.
But people with guilty consciences can't afford to take that gamble!
She was looking forward to seeing what Sophie would do!
And she was really looking forward to David's expression when he found out about this.
She would get her revenge, but she wanted her career too.
