Chapter 114 Who Exactly is Dennis
Lily looked up at Austin: "I just want to stay away from you all."
"But no matter how far you go, you're still part of the Roberts family, forever our sister."
Lily's lips curled coldly: "We've already cut ties."
Michael felt terrible: "Lily..."
Michael could only sigh, watching Lily's retreating figure: "I almost forgot, Lily is also a top streamer on Crayfish. During summer break, her follower count skyrocketed, and her streaming numbers are really good too. I heard she even wants to join the national team competition!"
Austin felt a bit down, somewhat annoyed that he hadn't talked to Lily properly earlier.
"Michael, it's my fault back then that made Lily upset enough to join Crayfish streaming."
He really regretted it now.
After losing the finals, with Lily gone too, his team existed in name only.
Without Lily, the team couldn't even operate anymore.
His so-called dignity now seemed ridiculous in hindsight.
Austin said with some defeat: "Michael, I finally understand what you said - it's not that Lily can't live without us, but that we can't live without her."
Michael shook his head. He regretted it now, too.
---
After leaving the business conference, Lily met up with Eric outside.
She looked at Eric, wearing a baseball cap and even a face mask.
"Eric, are you worried about being photographed by entertainment reporters?"
"No, I have a bit of a cold, and I'm worried about passing it to you."
Eric certainly didn't dare tell Lily the truth - he was indeed worried about being recognized.
Lily glanced at him: "You said you have an upset stomach. Do you need to go to the hospital?"
"No need, I'll just take some medicine. You're planning to go back to the house you bought now, right?"
Lily nodded, then suddenly spoke up: "By the way, when will Dennis come to Empire City?"
"That's hard to say. Lily, after spending this time together, we've gotten along pretty well. Let me give you some honest advice."
Lily pressed her lips, probably guessing what Eric was going to say.
"Lily, you're still young. When you get to college, you can enjoy dating freely, and you'll meet people you like. When that time comes, you'll realize your current thoughts are a bit childish."
Lily didn't know whether to laugh or cry: "I got it. See you next time then."
She got into a taxi somewhat awkwardly, Dennis's figure involuntarily appearing in her mind.
Now, even Eric could tell she liked Dennis.
How embarrassing.
It seemed she really needed to shift her attention and start a new life.
Lily returned to the house she bought. Fully furnished with appliances, she only needed to move in with her bags.
The environment and security here were both excellent.
Lily streamed and played games as usual. After the game, PK ended, Lily spoke: "Hello everyone, my fan babies. You all know I'm starting school soon and will be pretty busy. From now on, I'll stream on weekends and go online at random times during the week."
She had many things to do. Streaming was just to make money in the first place.
Now that she wasn't too short on money, of course, studying should come first.
Plus, there was Eric's side - the AI research and development she was involved in also needed her full participation.
There really wasn't much time left for streaming.
Before ending the stream, Lily noticed Dennis's profile icon was gray.
She felt a bit down. Suddenly, without Dennis by her side, she really felt very uncomfortable.
Sure enough, habit was quite a scary thing.
The next day, Lily received a call from Eric: "The company has established a subsidiary for the AI project. I'll send you the address in a bit. You can familiarize yourself tomorrow. When this project launches in the future, everyone will share the profits!"
"Okay."
Lily quickly washed up, changed clothes, grabbed the project materials, and headed to the address Eric sent.
The commercial building was very impressive.
After Lily entered the company, the person in charge enthusiastically introduced her to the subsidiary staff: "This is Lily Roberts, the developer of the AI project. Although she's young, she's very capable. Everyone will be working together from now on."
Lily was still a bit nervous.
After the introductions, the person in charge looked at her and said, "Lily, don't leave right after work tonight. Our company has a business dinner that needs you, the developer, to show up and have a meal!"
"Okay, I understand."
After work that evening, Lily went to the restaurant with her colleagues.
The person in charge instructed Lily: "Our Maple Leaf Corporation is meeting with people from the Gonzalez Group's investment department today. If they ask professional questions later, Ms. Roberts, please help answer them."
Lily nodded. This wasn't difficult for her.
Lily walked into the restaurant with her colleagues.
However, at the elevator entrance, she saw David and Sophie.
Sometimes the world is really small.
Lily pretended not to see them, not wanting to argue with the Roberts family in front of her colleagues.
David snorted coldly: "Not even greeting people now?"
Sophie spoke up proactively: "Lily, I heard you joined Maple Leaf Corporation and are competing with Michael's company for the AI market. I didn't expect you to actually betray the Roberts family!"
This was really good news for her.
David was quite angry when he learned about this.
David said coldly, "Sophie, don't talk to irrelevant people. She has nothing to do with our Roberts family now. A small company like Maple Leaf Corporation from nowhere is nothing to worry about."
Lily said coldly, "Wasn't the Roberts Group also from a small place before?"
David's face instantly darkened: "Lily, you're getting more and more out of control. Who permitted you to talk to me like this?"
"Aren't we strangers? What's wrong with talking like this?"
"Try saying that again?"
Sophie immediately stopped him: "David, don't get angry. Lily is still being stubborn."
After saying this, she looked at Lily triumphantly: "Lily, let me tell you the truth. David has an appointment today with the young heir of the Gonzalez Group to discuss cooperation."
Lily pressed her lips: "Until the end, who knows who the Gonzalez Group will invest in!"
She would compete for this opportunity with that young heir of the Gonzalez family!
David snorted coldly: "Lily, you're too naive. Do you think this is a TV drama?"
Sophie covered her mouth and laughed: "Lily, don't be so naive. David has always had a good relationship with the Gonzalez Group and has already built connections. This meeting is just going through the motions."
Since coming to Empire City and seeing the prosperity of the big city, Sophie realized how backward her hometown was.
She definitely wouldn't go back home to repeat the year. She had to stay in the big city and find a rich second-generation guy to marry.
The elevator doors opened.
Sophie walked into the elevator holding David's arm, looking triumphantly at Lily outside: "You guys wait for the next elevator. After all, we're not companies of the same level!"
David kept a straight face: "Lily, I'll make sure your company can't survive in Empire City."
Last time Lily deliberately tampered with the company firewall, causing him considerable losses and nearly making him an industry laughingstock.
Things had finally stabilized now.
David swore he would make Lily suffer enough, and then, when she came back to the Roberts Mansion, begging pitifully for mercy.
At that time, he would definitely teach Lily a good lesson!
David locked his gaze on Lily: "If you give up struggling now, I can spare you once. After all, you're my sister."
