Chapter 101 Agreement to Sever Ties
After Lily finished speaking, she looked at Michael seriously.
Watching his expression change from hopeful to hesitant.
A cold smile curved at the corner of Lily's lips. This was exactly what she had expected.
With this little bit of sincerity, did they really think they deserved to have her stay in the Roberts family?
Michael couldn't say a word for a long while. Choose one of the two - how could he choose?
Austin walked over to plead, "Lily, your conditions are way too difficult. We're the ones who wronged you; it doesn't have much to do with Sophie, right?"
The amusement in Lily's eyes deepened. She had said this on purpose.
She wanted to tear off the hypocritical masks of the Roberts family.
Seeing this, Sophie bit her lip and said, "Michael, Austin, I can leave, it's okay. Being able to grow up in the Roberts family all these years, I'm already very satisfied. As long as Lily is willing to come back, I'm willing to move out."
David was the first to object: "No way. If we do that, what kind of people would the Roberts family be? Back then, your father saved Lily's life, and he died in that car accident because he went back to save my parents. How could we possibly abandon an orphan like you?"
They had brought Sophie back to repay that debt of gratitude.
Sophie lowered her eyelids, feeling somewhat guilty for no apparent reason.
She had always thought her father was dead, but recently she had gotten in contact with him. Although they hadn't met in person, judging from their conversations, it really seemed like her father!
If her father wasn't dead, then who was the person who died in the car accident?
Why had her father been living under a false identity all these years? What secret was hidden in that car accident?
She had asked that mysterious man, but he wouldn't say anything - he only asked her for money!
These speculations flashed through Sophie's mind, but she didn't dare show any of them.
She was afraid the Roberts family would discover something, and then her life as a rich young lady would be over!
This secret was weighing on her so heavily that she could barely breathe.
Now that David had brought up Paul's matter again, Sophie felt anxious inside, afraid that something unexpected might happen.
After hearing David's words, Lily said softly: "In that case, there's nothing more to say."
David's voice was stern: "Lily, if you insist on leaving in a fit of anger, then don't come back later, and don't expect any financial support from the Roberts family."
"Fine. But since we're making things clear, I have something to say too."
Lily took out a document from her bag: "This is an agreement to sever our relationship. I've already signed it."
She had almost forgotten that she had brought this document to the hospital.
She hadn't expected so many things to happen in between that she forgot about it. If David hadn't brought up severing their relationship, she wouldn't have remembered.
The document appeared before everyone.
Michael was standing closest and could see it most clearly.
The words about severing their relationship pierced deep into his eyes, causing instant, unbearable pain.
Michael's chest felt like it was being pressed down by a stone, his voice hoarse: "Lily, do you have to be so heartless?"
"Michael, you need to get this straight - I wasn't the one who first said they wanted to kick me out."
Lily threw the document directly at Michael, then turned and walked away.
Michael reached out to catch the document, but grabbed at empty air, just like how he wanted to keep Lily but ultimately couldn't make her stay.
After seeing the severance agreement on the floor, David's expression showed some shock.
He looked at Michael and Austin in disbelief: "What exactly happened while I was away? Why has Lily changed so much?"
If it were before, when he told Lily to leave and not come back, Lily definitely wouldn't have dared to go against his words!
But now, not only did Lily leave, she even threw out a signed severance agreement!
This wasn't just being stubborn anymore - she was serious!
Michael didn't know whether to laugh or cry: "David! Lily is our only real sister! Why did you say those things?"
"I just thought she was becoming more and more disobedient, and I wanted to teach her a lesson. Who knew she would actually leave? Anyway, when she runs out of money, she'll definitely come back."
"That won't work. I tried that approach before. Lily is now a well-known gaming streamer with a decent income. I heard her signing bonus alone was a large sum of money."
"Not to mention Lily is now first in the entire city. She might really not need us anymore."
Austin was feeling pretty regretful now, too.
David didn't know what to say for a moment. He hadn't expected Lily to change so much.
Seeing things going wrong, Sophie directly pretended to faint.
Right now, she needed to put the attention on herself and get David to step in and resolve the cheating issue!
Sure enough, as soon as Sophie fainted, David immediately took her away.
Michael clutched his stomach, saying uncomfortably: "Go find out who reported Lily for cheating."
He felt something wasn't quite right about this whole thing.
"Okay, Michael. Your stomach problem is getting more and more serious; you really need to be careful. Remember to eat the medicinal meals Sophie makes for you."
Michael shook his head: "They don't work. Only the medicinal meals Lily made worked. I asked around - that stomach-soothing recipe was prescribed by a famous doctor. Lily really put her heart into taking care of me before."
Unfortunately, he hadn't noticed his sister's efforts.
"I'll go find that doctor and get a new prescription."
"I sent people there already, but the doctor won't prescribe it. I only just found out that to get that recipe, Lily pestered that doctor for a year and worked there as an assistant for free for a whole year before she could get that prescription!"
After hearing this, Austin was shocked: "But we didn't know before that she had put in so much effort. I thought that recipe was easy to get."
He had even thought Lily's medicinal meals didn't really do anything.
Michael's voice was hoarse, his eyes slightly red: "Austin, we really made a lot of mistakes before."
"Michael, as long as we sincerely make it up to Lily, she'll definitely forgive us. After all, we're family - blood is thicker than water."
Austin still felt that no matter how angry Lily was, she wouldn't really want to sever their relationship.
It was indeed because they had gone too far that Lily was doing this to fight back.
Michael nodded: "Go ahead."
There would be many things to do in the future.
——
After leaving the hospital, the first thing Lily did was call Dennis.
If David had really made a move against Dennis...
She would definitely call the police.
Her phone screen had also been broken by David, and even the touch function wasn't very responsive.
Lily stood there anxiously: "Pick up the phone!"
"Lily."
She looked up and saw Dennis standing not far away. Her mind went completely blank.
Lily's eyes immediately turned red: "Thank goodness you're okay."
Dennis reached out his hand toward her: "Come on, I'll take you home!"
Without hesitation, Lily ran toward him, rushing into his arms. Hearing his heartbeat against her ear, she finally felt much more at peace.
Thank goodness he was okay!
Dennis's hand was still held out, but now there was someone in his arms.
His throat moved slightly, and his emotions instantly became incredibly complex.
He had originally thought he was hiding it well, but in this moment, he realized he wasn't as calm as he thought.
Lily's presence had long ago silently carved itself into the blood of his life, slowly flowing into his heart, staying forever in his body.
Dennis slowly withdrew his hand and looked down at the girl in his arms.
Noticing the tears on her eyelashes, his voice was confident: "Your brother's side - I'll handle it for you!"
