Griselda POV
He smirked at me once my back hit the wall and took a dangerous step forward leaving just centimeters between us.
"Stop running away from me", he uttered.
He leaned down , until our lips almost touched. Closing my eyes, I inhaled his scent. Hands began to caress my face softly, snapping my eyes open, I stared at Arcado.
"Now, tell me why you were crying", he demanded.
"I-I just had a nightmare", I told him, half the truth.
Narrowing his eyes at me, he pulled me closer to him and our lips clashed together. Eyes widening, I looked up at him as his eyes closed.
He squeezed my hips, gasping out loud I tried to pull away. But to no vail, he just held me tightly against him. After a few moments, he pulled away and looked at me through hooded eyes.
"Tell me the whole truth", he commanded.
Looking up at him, I frown and start to shake my head. He challenges my gaze with a glare that could put me in my grave.
"Why?", he questions.
"B-because it"s personal", I whisper.
Staring at me, his eyes softens a bit and he takes a step backwards. I let out the breath that I didn"t know I was holding.
Arcado cleared his throat and started to take a few steps back. Looking at me, he thinned his lips and took a step towards me.
Bringing his hands up, he slowly wiped my now dried tears. My breath hitched in my throat while I looked at him shocked.
Turning away from me, he walked towards my closet. Pulling out a dress, he made his way over to me.
"Put this on". He commanded
Realizing, only a towel was covering my body, I took the dress from him and made my way towards the closet. Locking the door behind me, I pulled the towel away and dressed myself up.
Once done, I made my way out of the closet and closed the door behind me. Turning around, I saw Arcado still standing where I left him.
"Let"s go downstairs", he says, when he sees me fully dressed.
I nod my head and we both make our way downstairs, our whole conversation about a minute ago forgotten. We enter the dining room to see the men eating while the maids serve them.
I"ve never imagined the mafia life being so easy to live, before I escaped, I thought mafia men abuse women and use them for their own pleasure. But after coming here, my whole perspective changed when I saw that these men treat women with respect.
If women don"t want to give their body away, the men obey their wishes and leave them alone. But in Kulah"s world, women were seen as sluts, if they did not obey their masters, they would get abused and raped continuously until they learned their lesson.
"Griselda!", someone exclaimed, snapping me out of my thoughts.
Looking towards the voice, I see Sophia making her way over to me. She has a worried look etched on her face as she comes near me.
"Are you okay?", she asks me.
I nod my head and manage to give her a small smile. Taking me by surprise, she throws her arms around me and hugs me tightly. Putting my arms around her, I hug her back as tightly as her.
Once we pull away, the worried look on her face is now gone and a happy look is plastered on her face. Giving me a huge smile, she pulls me towards the kitchen.
"Are you sure your okay?", she asks me again, when we"re out of earshot.
"Of course, I am okay Sophia, it"s just a nightmare", I try to convince her.
Giving me a last doubtful look, she drops the subject and starts to talk about just everything. I try to listen to what she"s saying but my mind starts to drift off somewhere else.
If my baby was here right now, I wouldn"t have escaped, maybe I would endure the pain just for him. But I knew that he wouldn"t have a childhood life, instead would be a slave for Kulah.
"Griselda- Griselda, are you listening?", Sophia snaps me out of my thoughts.
Smiling sheepishly, I begin to shake and head and she lets out a chuckle while chunking an apple in my direction. I duck just before it hits my head.
Someone clears their throat from behind us and we both immediately turn to see one of Arcado"s man looking at us with amused expression.
"Hello, Dexter", Sophia greeted him curtly.
"Hello, Sophia", he greeted back.
They both stared at each other for a moment, lost in their own world. Suddenly Sophia snapped out of it and returned his stare with a glare that could put a person in their grave.
The man, Dexter smirks at Sophia and walks closer to us, he reaches behind Sophia to get something and I see her visibly tense, as there is little space left between them.
"Got what I was looking for", he says and turns to walk away, leaving behind a flustered Sophia.
Walking closer to her, I shake her shoulders and she snaps of out her daze. She gulps multiple times and tries to relax.
"Damn it, I did it again", she whispers to herself.
"Did what again?", I question her.
She shakes her head at me and leans on the counter behind her, putting her hands over her chest, she takes several deep breaths as if she"s in pain.
"Wow, that chemistry right there was intense", I tease her.
Turning her head towards me, she scowls and visibly shudders while making gagging sounds. "Me and him, are never going to happen", she says.
"Uh-uh, keep telling yourself that", I tell her and begin to walk out of the kitchen.
Making my way towards the dining room, I stand beside a maid, named Emily. When she sees me, she scowls and scoots further away from me. I ignore her, trying to concentrate on something else.
I could feel someone"s stare burning holes through me, knowing who it was I didn"t dare turn towards him, instead I kept my focus in front of me.
"Griselda, can you pass me the bread?", his voice was heard throughout the room.
Gulping, I walked towards the table and got the bread. Slightly calming, my beating heart, I began to walk towards him. As I stood in front of him, I didn"t dare to look him in the eyes, instead I kept staring ahead.
His hands brushed mine, as he got the bread out of my hands. He scooted closer to me, until his breath was fanning my ears, making me shiver.
"Do you remember, what I did to you last night?" . He questioned, whispering in my ear.
My pale face, now turned crimson, as I remembered what happened last night in my bedroom. I stole a glance at him, he was looking at me with a smirk on his face.
"You do remember huh?", he asked again.
Turning to him fully, I glared at him but didn"t dare to open my mouth. He watched me, amusement clearly written on his face.
"There is going to be more of that coming, Mi Amore". He whispered once again, before I turned to leave.
