Chapter 216
It is getting so difficult to understand this man with every passing day.
I slowly sat up with my hand still covering my chest. My eyes were fixed on his stiff back. Where is he going? Is he leaving me all alone here? Suddenly my heart was gripped with unknown fear. I don't know why I was feeling scared of him leaving me alone when I was capable enough to protect myself from any danger. At this moment, he is the most dangerous thing around me, but still, my heart aches even at the thought of him going away from me. Something is wrong with me. All these unknown feelings have started to mess with my head. Once again, I started to feel that same restlessness I felt when he distanced himself from me.
“Where are you going?” I asked even before I realized why I was questioning him. He can go anywhere he wants. His steps halted when he heard me. He stood in front of the fire. Instead of answering my question, he sat on the big, dry, old trunk of a tree in front of it. I kept looking at his back.
“It won't be morning till a few hours, so go back to sleep,” he said sternly once again without turning his head to look at me. As if he knew I had been staring at him. I exhaled deeply and decided to go back to sleep. I pulled my dress back on my shoulder, covering my bare breast. I felt tingles when the wet cloth of the dress rubbed my swollen nipple. He had wet it with his saliva. I could still feel his mouth over my nipple, and the wetness in between my legs was still there. I pressed my legs together to make the tingling there go away.
I lay down and closed my eyes to sleep. I wanted that feeling to go away, but it seemed it wouldn't be easy to get rid of them. I kept tossing and turning, finding it hard to fall asleep. My eyes kept on occasionally moving to his back. He kept sitting in front of a burning fire with his back to me. Not even once did he turn his head to look at me. Why was he so unaffected after doing that to me? Here I was, feeling so restless, and he was so unbothered. I felt so angry at him. I decided I would not look at him anymore. I closed my eyes and forced myself to sleep. I don't know when I ended up falling asleep. My eyes opened on their own early in the morning. The sun had just started to come out in the sky. A big yawn left my mouth while I lifted my right hand and rubbed the remaining sleep away from my eyes. I opened my eyes properly and looked around to find him. My brows furrowed when I didn't see him sitting in the same place. I immediately got up with sudden restlessness.
“Where did he go?” I mumbled under my breath while walking to where he was sitting. Smoke was coming out of the fire he had burned last night. It seemed like a fire had gone off a long time ago. I decided to look around to find him. I looked around, but he was nowhere.
“Now that it's morning, did he leave me alone in a forest and go away?” I once again talked to myself with my hands on my waist. I was panting slightly because of running.
“I can't understand this man. If he was going to leave me alone, at least he should have woken me up before leaving,” I said in annoyance with a mad look on my face. I just don't know what problem he has with me. One moment he will be all over me as if his whole life depended on me, and the next moment, he will ignore me as if I don't exist for him.
“I don't even have my horse. It will take me a whole day to find my way out,” I said in more annoyance. I was thinking about ways to curse this man when my eyes fell on the small pond beside the cave. It even had a small waterfall. I felt a sudden calming effect when I looked at the serene water. I decided to take a bath before I started to find my way out of this forest. I walked to a small pond and removed my clothes. I kept my sword beside the clothes in case any wild animals decided to greet me with its presence. My body shivered when the cold wind touched my bare skin. I first slowly dipped my toes inside the water. I immediately moved my feed away. The water was ice cold, but it's what I needed to clear my mind, especially when I was in the mood to beat someone. Specifically someone with golden eyes. My fingers formed a fist when his face flashed in front of my eyes. I took a few deep breaths to calm myself. This time, I bit on my lower lip and dipped my feet in the ice-cold water. A slow hiss left my mouth when the ice-coldness of water started to crawl all over my body. I slowly dipped my whole naked body in the water. It felt nice. A smile formed on my face. I miss taking a bath like this. I miss taking a bath in the river in front of my house in our village.
Once everything is over, I will return to my village with Helio, and I will also make Hestia come with us. The people of my village are not good, but my village is so beautiful. I will also make her come with me to the temple of the old goddess. She will love it over there. I was relaxing when I felt like someone was watching me. I immediately dipped my naked body in water to my neck and looked around. I was feeling this feeling of being watched for so long, but I ignored it, feeling it must be some animal, and that is why I kept my sword beside me, but that animal has been watching me for so long. It felt like he was noticing every moment before attacking me, and only bloodthirsty predators do that. My heart started to beat fast in fear. What if it's a lion? I heard his roar last night. My body shivered even more in ice-cold water. What if he is going to attack me? My heart started to beat even faster. Hera, it's not time to get scared. You have bigger things to get scared of. Come on and fight with it. I slowly grabbed my sword and got out of the water without bothering to wear my clothes. If it attacks me, he is dead. Water dripped from my long raven hair.
“Who is there?” I said in a firm tone while holding my sword. I heard no moment when I said that. I kept moving my eyes all over the big grass, which was surrounding this place. I couldn’t find him, but that gaze, which was lingering on me, became even more intense. I could feel the heat of it on my ice-cold skin. Maybe he was getting ready to attack me. My chest heaved in fear, but I kept standing, holding my sword.
“Come out now. I know you are there,” I said once again in the same firm tone. My heart kept thumping loudly inside my rib cage. I saw some movement in the grass. I know he will attack me any moment. I was ready with my sword to attack him. I waited in anticipation and fear for him to come out.
“You are dead,” I said under my breath, ready to attack that predator. The grass parted, and he stepped forward. My breath hitched, and the sword fell out of my hand on its own. His heated gaze moved all over my body, and my breath hitched even more. I was standing naked in front of him. His heated gaze lingered on my breast more than needed. I immediately bent down and grabbed my dress and covered myself with it. Still, most of my bare skin was viable to him. His golden eyes refused to budge away from me, and it made me angry. He was looking at me like a shameless man.
“You were watching me take a bath,” I said with an accusing look in my eyes. All this time, I thought it was some predator, but no, it was him with a predatory look in his eyes. He was looking at me as if he would attack me and devour me alive any second.
“Here is some food; have it. We are leaving this place soon, so hurry up,” he said in a firm tone while looking straight into my eyes. Saying that he slowly, very slowly, averted his eyes from me and went to sit in the same place he was sitting last night. My nose flared in anger, and I stared at him. He was the one watching me take a bath, but he was giving me an attitude as if I was the one who was watching him without his permission. His aloofness was getting on my nerves now. He is giving me this attitude because I asked him to stay away from me. My jaw clenched in anger, and I stomped inside the cave. I wore my dress back and squeezed the excess water out of my long raven hair. It had already started to dry up. I let them open so they could dry up completely. I secured my sword on my waist and walked out of the cave, still stomping my feet.
“Let's go,” I said curtly while looking at his back. I so badly wanted to make bore holes in his back with my eyes.
“Eat this before we leave,” he said, pushing a basket made out of leaves. He still didn't bother to look at me. My mouth watered when I saw what was in it. Luscious-looking black barriers. They are my favourites. Even my stomach grumbled at their sight. I swallowed and moved my head in a no. I don't want to take anything from him.
“I'm not hungry. Let's leave, I said in the same curt tone. He turned his head towards me and looked at me with the same heat in his golden orbs when I said that. Once again my stomach rumbles loudly. I only had half an apple last night. My face flushed red because I knew he heard it too. He grabbed the small leaf basket and stood up.
“As you wish,” he said and walked away while eating the berries. I bite my lower lip in more anger. He did not even ask me to eat them again. I so badly want to strangle him with my bare hands. I suppressed that urge and stomped my feet while following him. I hate him. I hate him so much. We walked to where he had tied up his horse. He got on the horse while I still stood down.
“There is only one horse. How am I going to come?” I asked while looking at him, who was eating blackberries without any care. He threw the seed out of his mouth. Instead of answering me, he leaned down. I furrowed my brows while looking at him when he suddenly grabbed me by my waist, and before I knew it, I was on a horse. A gasp left my mouth when he did that. He lifted me without any effort as if I weighed nothing.
“Same as how we came last night,” he said in the same tone while holding my waist in a firm grip, but he moved his hand away from my waist and showed me his hand as iI saying he was not touching me anymore. My jaw clenched when he did that. I was sitting in the same way as yesterday, facing him. He pulled the leash of the horse, and it made a loud noise before it started running at the speed of the wind. I was about to fall, and my hands moved on their own. They wrapped around him immediately, and I hugged him tightly with my face buried in his chest. He was not holding me, so I had to hold him for my life. I know it was all his trick. I didn't miss the smirk on his lips when he made the horse run fast without warning me.
He was making me hold him with my will.
