Chapter 205

“Why do I keep seeing this dream again and again?”

I once again wiped my face with both hands. My breath was still heavy, as if I had run miles without stopping. I was chasing him in my dream, and it felt so real to me. Every time I dream, it makes me feel so exhausted. I even feel a slight ache in my legs. I exhaled deeply, not knowing what was happening to me. I turned my head to look at the window, and I saw wind gushing inside the room. That's what was making me feel cold. My brows furrowed looking at the open window. I remember locking them. Then how did they open? Curtains were flying with gusts of wind spreading coldness all around the room. I got out of bed and kept my bare feet on the cold floor.

Coldness travelled to my whole body, making me shiver. I wrapped my arms around me and walked to the window. I rubbed my arms when the cold morning wind touched my body. The sun had still not come out in the dark sky. It was too early in the morning. I decided to close the window and sleep a little more. I was still feeling tired in every cell of my body. I pulled the flaps of the door and closed them. They must have opened up because of the strong wind. I took a deep breath and then went back to lie on the bed. It didn't take me long to drift back to sleep. I once again ended up slipping into a deep slumber. This time, I managed to get to sleep without any nightmares. I woke when Helio banged on my door to wake me up.

“I will be down soon,” I told him with my eyes still closed. I think I got out of bed after ten minutes. I wanted to sleep more, but we have to start our day. I took a bath and then changed my dress. My black raven hair was wet, so I let them open. I was climbing down the stairs when I heard hush whispers.

“Tell him to stay away from my sister," I heard Hestia's hushed, angry voice. It made me stop in my tracks.

“Tell him that he has done enough damage to him, and now he doesn't need to do more. So let her be,'' Hestia said in her manhushed voice once again. My brows furrowed when she said that. What are they talking about? Who is she talking to like that? My question was answered immediately when I heard Hector talking.

“Princess, you can't stop, Lord, even if you want to," he said in a firm tone.

“No one of us can. His Highness has all the rights to be here with her Highness,” he said in a firm tone, and my brows furrowed even more. His highness and her highness. I questioned myself.

“Priestess had told him to keep his distance from her,'' Hestia retorted back when Hector said that. “He has been keeping his distance. If it were in his hands, he would have taken her back to the moon palace the moment she opened her eyes again. He is controlling himself more than I thought he could. He is a very impatient man who believes in doing what he wants, but he is not doing it only because he doesn't want to harm her highness anymore. I saw how he suffered every day when you took her away from him, and he is suffering till today too,” Hector said in a firm tone with full authority. I have never heard him talk like that before.

“If you want, you can try, but you can't separate them. They are tied with a thread of fate; no one can separate them. Even the old goddess won't do it,” Hector said in his heavy voice, and my mind weighed even more with those words I heard. I don't know what they are talking about exactly. The only thing I got was they were talking about me and the Lord. What is the threat of fate, and what are they talking about spectating us? I have not even seen that man's face, so what connection do I have with him? What are they hiding from me? All those things were confusing me.

“I don't care. I almost lost my sister because of him, and I will never let that happen again. My sister is my only family. My only living blood, and I will not let anything or anyone harm her,” Hestia said, standing firm on her stand. She was not ready to budge.

“Do whatever you wish, Princess, but once all this ends, his highness will take his queen back to the moon palace, and no one can stop him. She is the bride of the last dragon and moon place, waiting very early for her return,” Hector said in a firm tone. Sternness was evident in his voice.

"Hera," Helio noticed me standing at the stairs, and it made me look at him. His face lost its colour when he noticed me hearing their conversation. Both Hestia and Hector went quiet when they noticed me. I decided not to pretend that I didn't hear them.

“What are you both talking about?” I said while climbing down the rest of the stairs. I looked at both of them, but they were too stunned by my question.

“Tell me what you are hiding from me. I have this feeling that there is something that I don't know. I don't know how I don't know it, and it's confusing me and making me put more stress in my mind,” I said while looking at both of them. Both of them kept quiet, not answering my question.

“Please tell me why I can't remember it. Why do I feel so lost? Why does it feel like a huge part of me is missing? I know I'm, but I don't know what it is. Please help me,” I said, pleading with both of them. I was feeling even more stressed with overwhelming feelings. Hestia came rushing to me when she was me breaking. She immediately held my hand in a tight grip.

“Hera, don't put so much stress on yourself,” she said in a soft voice while pulling me towards the chair. She made me sit on it and kept looking at me with her concerned eyes.

“Then tell me everything. Tell me why I feel this hollowness inside my chest whenever I feel like I'm missing something. I don't even know what is missing, but the pain is so unbearable. It makes me go crazy.” I finally told her the things I had been feeling for a few days.

"Please," I urged, this time looking at Hector, who was standing there with a look of distress in his eyes. I pleaded to him too. I wanted to know the truth so badly.

“Hera, calm down, please,” she said when tears threatened to fall from my eyes. I had woken up feeling overwhelmed, and when I heard their conversation, I lost the bit of hold I had on my emotions. I wanted to know the reason behind the dream I have every day. Every day I chase that man, but I'm not able to see his face, not even once. It gives me so much anxiety, making me feel like I'm losing an integral part of my life again and again. This feeling was never settling. It only left me even more restless. I want to stop feeling it, and the only way out of it will be getting to know the truth.

“Trust me, Hera, you are not ready to know the truth. Give a little time to yourself and promise I will be the one who will tell you the whole truth. It's my promise,” she said while still holding my hand in a tight grip.

“No! I want to know it now,” I said, refusing to believe her words. She always tells me that she will tell me, but she never does.

“Hera, calm down," she said in a firm tone, pulling me to my senses. A soft sob left my mouth when Hestia engulfed me in a tight hug.

“Please have a little patience, and truth will be in front of your eyes, and then I will give you a choice to do what you want. Until then, please keep holding yourself," she said softly while making soothing circles on my back. Hector kept looking at me with concerned-filled eyes. I slowly nodded my head, agreeing with her in the end. Hestia broke the hug and then whipped her face with both her hands. She cupped my face and then pressed a kiss on my forehead, making my restless heart feel the warmth. Once I calmed down, we had breakfast together. I didn't feel like eating, but three of them urged me to eat it, and I couldn't refuse them.

“Hera, why don't you stay here and take some rest until we go out and mark the checkpoint?” Hestia suggested after we were done eating morning supper. I shook my head in no.

“If I keep sitting here, I will go crazy. I need distraction,” I told her, and she agreed with me. I will only keep thinking about the things I heard before Helio noticed me. All these words sound so strange to me. But one thing I got from all the things they said. That man who appeared in my dream had some kind of relation to me. I don't know what it is, but there is something. Like Helio said, we are tied with a thread of fate, and I don't know what it is, but it is something sacred, and no one can break it, not even the old goddess. We all left together, and today, Hector was accompanying me. They didn't want yesterday's event to repeat. Today, too, I saw those demon guards trying to manipulate and harass the poor street vendors and poor citizens of the city. I saw how badly they were behaving with them. If they don't get what they want, they beat up that person black and blue. I controlled myself so much. It was Hector, most of the time, who was not letting me lose my control. If he were not beside me, I'm sure I would have ended up doing what I did yesterday. My confidence boiled so much when I saw women and children in a cage, and people were putting bets on them. I remember how those fire-breathing demons used to abduct women and children. They wanted to sell them in the market here. Since the king had taken over the kingdom, the city of Theseus had become a hub for all illegal things. People here do all the cruelty they are capable of, and no one bats their eyes or gives a second glance at the injustices they have witnessed.

“There is so much cruelty here. How is that person running his kingdom like this? Isn't it a king's responsibility to look after his people and give them his protection?” I asked Hector, who was walking beside me. He exhaled deeply when I said that.

“It is, but the king here believes it will end soon. He has set his eyes here now. My Lord will make sure about it,” he said, giving me the answers that I was not expecting. His lord seems like a powerful person. It makes me curious.

“Who is your Lord?” I asked him with curious eyes. My question caught him off guard.

“It's a very difficult question to answer. I shouldn't be one answering that question anyways,” he said, not saying anything further after that.

“It's me to discover," I asked suddenly, and it made him look at me.

“You already know him," he said, making me look at him with furrowed brows. Maybe I do. I didn't question him again. I know no one will tell me about him. I need to find it on my own. We all returned to the house once we were done marking the checkpoint. We all day together and drew a map to get a better understanding of the city. Hestia said the King had changed so many things and even blocked her way to the castle. We still need to figure out where the portal was they used to summon more demons. I was so exhausted when I slumped on my bed. I didn't even eat my food properly. I had lost my appetite, so I only drank water most of the time. I was slowly drifting into slumber when I felt a presence beside me. I know he was here, but I didn't recognise his presence. He slides on the bed beside me, and his hand moves to my waist. My heart started to thump loudly. Goosebumps formed all over my body when he opened his mouth.

“Turned around”
