Chapter 82 Giselle Isn't as Simple as You Think

Chapter 82 Giselle Isn't as Simple as You Think
The car pulled up in front of the apartment building.
The two quickly got out.
Liam rushed inside, calling out, "Giselle!"
Emma followed him inside.
Just as she stepped into the living room, Liam was carrying Giselle horizontally.
She carefully checked the kitchen and turned off the stove.
When she returned to the car, Giselle was leaning back in the backseat.
"Get in the car," Liam called out.
Emma immediately slid into the passenger seat.
"I'm sorry, Liam, Emma…" Giselle ground out through clenched teeth.
"I'm causing you trouble again." She managed a faint smile.
"Don't talk. Save your strength." Liam gripped the steering wheel tightly and accelerated, his tone clearly irritated.
"Hang in there a little longer. We'll be at the hospital soon." Emma said softly.
"Thank you," Giselle said, closing her eyes.
The car stopped in front of the emergency room.
"Emma, you go park the car. I'll take her to the ER first," Liam said as he got out of the car.
"Okay." Emma unbuckled her seatbelt and glanced back at the woman in the backseat.
Seeing Liam lift Giselle out of the car, Emma frowned.
She then moved to the driver's seat.
After parking the car, she hurriedly grabbed Liam's phone, which he had left in the car, and walked toward the emergency room entrance.
She collided head-on with someone, leaving her momentarily dizzy.
"David?" she gasped, looking at the man before her.
"In such a hurry to hug me?" He curved his lips into a smile.
Just as she was about to speak, he said, "He's not here. I just saw him carry someone to the inpatient ward."
"Thank you," she said and started to leave, but he gently pulled her back.
"Emma, Giselle isn't as simple as you think," he said before turning to walk away.
Watching his retreating figure, Emma pondered.
Does he know Giselle?
She turned and ran quickly toward the inpatient ward.
Leaning against the doorframe with her hands on her hips, she panted heavily.
In the ward, Giselle was sitting on the bed with her arms around Liam's waist.
She cried softly with her face buried in his chest.
"Just bear with it a little longer. The anesthesia has just been administered, and the effects haven't fully kicked in yet," the nurse said gently.
She then turned to Liam. "As her boyfriend, you should comfort her."
"I'm not..." Liam muttered impatiently.
"It really hurts..." Giselle cried harder and clung to him tighter.
After hesitating for a moment, he finally reached out and patted her back gently.
Emma furrowed her brow, recalling David's words from earlier.
Her mind was in a whirl.
Just then, Liam looked up, and their eyes met.
Emma forced a flat smile and walked in.
"Remember to call your mother back later," she said flatly and handed the phone back to him.
"Emma." He reached out to take her hand, but she gently pulled away.
Giselle looked up at him with tear-filled eyes and cast an apologetic glance at Emma.
"I'm sorry...I..." She shifted slightly to the side.
"Be careful," he said.
Giselle bit her lip and clutched the sheets tightly with both hands.
She lowered her head, and tears fell from her cheeks.
"You guys should go home first. I'll be fine." Giselle lay back down, clutching the sheets tightly.
"The bleeding has stopped. Let's start stitching," the nurse said.
Terrified, Giselle turned her face away and reached out to clutch Liam's hand.
He tried to pull away, but she gripped him even tighter.
Emma pulled Giselle's hand from his and took it into her own.
