Chapter 36 I Talked Her Into Sleeping With Me

Chapter 36 I Talked Her Into Sleeping With Me
A bit nervous, she stepped forward and extended her hand cautiously. Her fingertips brushed his neck instinctively as she grasped the button.

The button wasn’t loose; perhaps her nervousness made it difficult to fasten.

She took a step closer and tilted her head to draw nearer to his neck. Her warm breath suddenly washed over his face.

The spot where her breath touched gradually flushed red.

She felt the movement of his Adam’s apple and the subtle rise and fall of his chest with each breath.

Liam smirked and placed his hand on her waist—an undeniably suggestive posture.

Her body stiffened, freezing in place.

“Is it too tight?” she murmured, her voice soft and warm, stirring an irresistible restlessness.

“No, I just need your help,” he replied without hesitation.

“…”

She gazed at his gentle eyes through her glasses.

Does he want me?

“Is it okay?” he asked; his burning gaze fixed on her.

He handed her the tie he held.

“Yes…” she murmured as she took it.

He smiled.

Emma clutched the tie, her heart pounding as reality sank in.

“Why did you make clothes for me?” he asked.

“I ruined too many of your clothes. I should compensate you,” she murmured.

She slowly walked up to him, knelt on one knee beside his thigh on the sofa, positioning her other foot between his legs.

His pupils darkened, and his Adam’s apple bobbed as his voice grew hoarse.

“So, you made this shirt yourself?” he pressed.

“Yes.” She shyly flipped up his collar, her warm breath tickling his skin.

Electricity seemed to surge wherever her touch landed.

His gaze deepened from shy pink to fiery crimson.

“Emma, you’re starting to like me,” he blurted out.

Nervous, she suddenly tightened the tie around his neck.

“Ugh!” He grunted deeply.

She blushed and quickly loosened it, stammering, “Not yet…”

“It’s okay. I’ll try harder.” The intense heat radiating from his chest transferred to her hands.

She smoothed his collar, stood up, and took a step back.

“And I’ll try to like you,” she said.

He froze for several seconds, thinking he’d misheard.

“Let’s go.” She awkwardly picked up her bag from the sofa and headed for the door.

He grabbed his coat and followed her, smiling brightly.

“Emma.” He took her hand.

“Hm?” Startled, she stopped and turned to look at him.

“I want to kiss you.”

She froze, her face instantly flushing.

What should I do?
Yes? Or no?
Fine!

She turned to face him and wrapped her arms around his solid waist.

“I can give you a peck.”

Within two seconds, she released him and walked out.

Before he could react, she was already striding away in her high heels.

His eyes flashed with fire like a hungry beast’s as he fixed his gaze on her, watching her head toward the car.

“My car’s in the shop. Are there any ordinary vehicles at home?” Emma asked; she sat in the passenger seat, watching Liam drive.
“What happened to your car?”
“I got rear-ended…”
“Are you hurt?” He cut her off, quickly scanning her from head to toe.
“No, it’s just that the car might not be ready anytime soon.”
“I’ll have someone bring one over tomorrow.”
“Okay.”

They arrived at the supermarket’s underground parking lot.
Liam was on the phone in the car.

As soon as Emma stepped out, she saw Chloe, who had also just gotten out of her car.

“Emma!” Chloe called out.

Emma ignored her.

Chloe’s smile vanished instantly.

“What? Where’s your man?” she asked in a haughty tone.

“You’re pregnant now, don’t think about other men. It’s bad for the baby,” Emma said lightly.

Chloe was too furious to speak. “I’m not you, throwing yourself at the boss?”

“I’m definitely not you. I don’t pick up trash. You scramble for the things I throw away,” Emma retorted.

“You can’t even keep a man. What a waste of that seductive face!” Chloe continued, tilting her chin sarcastically.

“I’ll take that as a compliment. But good men don’t need watching. I should thank you for taking unnecessary trouble off my hands.” Emma crossed her arms over her chest. “And—I’m not pregnant. I certainly didn’t have to throw myself at the boss…”

“She’s right. It’s me who coaxed her, deceived her, and carried her up there.” Liam chimed in; his gaze sharp as a blade.

He gently closed the door and walked toward her, his arm naturally sliding around her waist.

Emma froze, turning her head.

“So concerned about my honey? Chloe?” he pressed.

His honey? That’s putting it a bit strongly.
We only hooked up once.

“Heh, not really…” Chloe replied.

Recalling the scene at the hospital that day when she’d been beaten, she was afraid. She beckoned to her attendant and slipped away.

Hiding behind a nearby pillar, Ben witnessed the entire scene.

Seeing Liam make intimate gestures toward Emma, a sharp pang of pain shot through Ben’s heart. He clenched his teeth and headed toward the nearby elevator.

“Did I do poorly?” Emma exhaled softly, lifting her gaze slightly to meet Liam’s.

“No, it was fine,” he replied.

“Fine? Then don’t interrupt next time.”

“…”

She pulled her hand away and strode straight toward the supermarket entrance.

“Did I do wrong?” Liam asked, following.

“You did great. But don’t do it next time,” she replied lightly.

He didn’t press further.

“My bad. I’ll listen to you.” He gently took her hand.

She didn’t pull away; instead, she squeezed his thick palm firmly.

He smiled softly, his fingers tracing hers.

“You’ve been staying at the office lately. Is it really because of work?” she asked cautiously.

Liam turned to look at her. Her words carried multiple layers of meaning.

It could be:
1\. a wife questioning her husband.
2\. a subordinate’s concern for their boss.
3\. the longing for one’s partner.

“Forget it. I was just wondering if I should lock the door tonight. I haven’t been sleeping very soundly,” she hastened to explain.

They entered the supermarket, and Liam pushed the shopping cart while Emma walked beside him.

She paused in front of the Brussels sprouts.

“Want some?” He glanced at her.
