Chapter 355 Oliver vs. Nicole: In My Brother’s Room

Chapter 355 Oliver vs. Nicole: In My Brother’s Room
A cold, slimy sensation spread across her forehead.
Egg white trickled down her cheeks, mingling with the yolk clinging to her hair.
The pungent smell of egg suddenly filled her nostrils.
Nicole froze, staring at the expressionless Margot standing before her.
Panicked, Rosalind tried to drag Nicole outside, but she was as if nailed to the spot, her gaze fixed on Margot.
Margot pulled another egg from the basket and raised her hand to throw it.
Rosalind stepped in front of Nicole, and the egg landed on the back of her head, trickling down her neck.
"Get out of my yard!" Margot's voice was deep and cold, and her face was a mask of suppressed anger.
Only then did Nicole come to her senses.
"Let's go!" Rosalind shielded her, pulling her back to the side.
Margot’s gaze followed their every move.
Her chest heaved heavily, and her hand still trembled as she picked up another egg and hurled it at them.
Philip had just returned from running an errand when he witnessed the scene.
He quickly took off his jacket and draped it over Nicole.
The egg smashed against his suit.
Nicole’s legs went weak, and her mind went blank.
The others hurriedly left the yard.
“Forget this place. Margot’s not someone you want to mess with. Find me another one, will you?” The man muttered under his breath as he walked out.
Rosalind followed behind as Philip shoved Nicole into the car.
He went around to the driver’s seat and drove off.
Rosalind stood by the other side of the car.
Before her hand could touch the door handle, the car drove right past her.
She froze for two seconds before realizing what had happened. “Hey! What about me!"
She stomped her foot in frustration. "You've even abandoned your own sister, Philip!"
The car was already far away.
When they returned to the Gray family home, Nicole was still sitting in the car, staring blankly.
Philip opened the door, pulled out a tissue to wipe the egg off her forehead.
"You should've at least moved out of the way," he said reproachfully.
Rosalind saw this scene as she got out of the car.
She walked up to Philip and shoved him.
Only then did Philip turn to look at her. "You didn't get in the car?"
"No!" Rosalind was so angry her teeth were grinding. "Did you even look back? Your sister’s still standing back there!”
Philip handed her a tissue. "Sorry."
Nicole got out of the car, still a bit dazed.
She took off her coat and saw the egg on the back. "Sorry... I've caused you trouble."
“Don’t say that!” Rosalind frowned.
Philip took her coat. "Go upstairs and wash up."
He casually flicked Rosalind’s hair aside. "With those big waves of yours mixed with egg yolk, you look like a bowl of noodles."
Rosalind pushed his hand away. "It's not the time to be joking around."
Nicole smiled, biting her lip.
Philip told Nicole, "Go wash up in my room. There's nothing in the guest room."
She had no choice but to go to Philip’s room.

Nicole stood under the showerhead as hot water poured down over her head.
By the time Rosalind finished her shower and came downstairs, Philip was already cooking in the kitchen.
Oliver walked in from the yard.
“You’re back?” Rosalind greeted him.
Philip glanced at Oliver. “Are you staying for dinner?”
Oliver asked, "Where's Nicole?"
“She’s upstairs taking a shower.” Rosalind pointed toward Philip’s room. “She's over at my brother’s place.”
Oliver’s foot, which had just stepped forward, paused.
Philip quickly added, "They both went out and got their hair dirty. The guest room wasn't tidied up, so she went to my place to rinse it off."
Oliver nodded.
Rosalind pursed her lips.
Once Oliver had walked away, she whispered to Philip, "Oliver seems like he can’t live without Nicole. He wasn’t happy that she was showering in your room. If I’d known he was coming back, I would’ve gone to your place to shower and sent her back to my room.”
Philip glanced toward the stairs. "It's not like I'm going to steal his wife."
"That's not what I meant," Rosalind said, rolling her eyes at him. "You can't handle Oliver.”
Philip snorted. "You sure have a way with words. What on earth does Shawn see in you?”
"Because I’m charming, of course!" Rosalind walked past him, grabbed a piece of bread, and began munching on it as she headed out of the kitchen.
Philip shook his head.

Just as Oliver walked into Philip’s room, the sound of running water in the bathroom stopped.
He stood in the room, looking around.
On the nightstand was a photo of Philip, Rosalind, and Nicole.
Philip and Rosalind were smiling at Nicole, who was leaning back and laughing so hard that she was almost falling over.
Oliver couldn’t help but smile.
He’d never seen Nicole laugh like that before, certainly not at him.
He picked up the photo, took a picture of it with his phone, and cropped out just Nicole.
“Click.”
The bathroom door opened.
Oliver tucked his phone into his pocket and turned to see Nicole coming out with a pile of dirty clothes in her arms.
Thinking it was Philip, she recoiled in surprise.
When she realized it was Oliver, the clothes slipped from her hands and fell to the floor.
She rushed toward him and threw her arms around his neck while wrapping her legs around his waist.
"You're finally back!" She buried her face in his neck and rubbed it against him wildly.
"Yeah." Her reaction took Oliver aback.
Yet he enjoyed it—he liked being missed.
He cradled her with one arm and patted her back with the other.
Nicole looked up at him and kissed him passionately. "I missed you."
A lump formed in her throat.
She tightened her grip around his neck and tears began to fall.
“Why are you crying? I’m back now, aren’t I?”
Nicole remained clinging to him, reluctant to let go.
