40. jealousy
Just as she had promised them at nine fifteen Netayah climbed in the shower, to get ready for the appointment the alphas had arranged from her. Hurriedly rushing through the cleaning process, having no time to enjoy the three headed shower, wrapped in a towel she rushed to her room. Thankfully a few of the clothes she had someone had seen to bringing upstairs, else she'd have been leaving the castle wearing her birthday suit.
She burst out laughing at the mental picture that popped up into her head then, at the spectacle that would surely arise from the outcome. It would definitely turn some heads.
Shaking off the thought before she could be distracted, Netayah hurriedly changed into a pair of denim frayed shorts and a backless black top. Slipping feet into a pair of shoes found deep in the interior of her closet, Netayah grabbed for an overcoat and sailed out her bedroom door. A couple of minutes later she stepped onto the golden elevator, then pressing the button for the main floor, she rode it down the seven stories.
A smile arose to her lips as she entered the main area of the castle, immediately spying Xios leaned up against the wall, looking incredibly handsome. Netayah was still astonished at the realization that this drop dead gorgeous man could truly belonged to her, knowing how lucky that she was. The luckies she wolf in all the kingdom.
Then she twisted her gaze to see the man wasn't alone, standing in front of him was a dark haired woman, bright amber eyes and beautiful beyond compare. Yet another would be model. The smile drained from her face as she watched the man bark out in laughter, spying the delicate hand that touched him on the arm. Jealousy, potent and powerful, surged up inside of her at this woman--any woman--thought she had the right to touch him in such a way, as if he belonged to her.
“He's mine,” she growled. The growl that was meant to be for her thoughts alone drifted into the room, immediately alerting the pair they were no longer alone. Obviously she’d spoken aloud again.
“Come here,” he beckoned.
Showing no resistance to the order she'd received from him, Netayah sailed across the room towards the pair, promptly stopping at his side. His arm reached around the slender frame of the girl that had came to stand next to him, none could miss the fingers splayed across her ribcage. His other hand motioned to her. “Netayah I would like you to meet Samantha Dayes, she's the royal stylish so to speak. She will be taking you out shopping today, I want you to trust in whatever she tells you, she is the absolute best there is in the village. Sami this delightful creature is my Netayah.”
She bowed ever so slightly. “It’s a pleasure to meet you my...Miss Netayah,” she instantly corrected herself at the pointed stare at the man, behaving as if she'd been caught doing something wrong by the man. Her smile was brilliantly bright. “I look forward in outfitting you in the best to be found.”
“I'm sure,” she grumbled, still displeased at the thought of finding this woman flirting so openly with her mate and it showed on the half snarl on her face. Jealousy was a new emotion.
“Be nice,” Xios whispered.
“Yes Xi,” she agreed. “Its a pleasure to meet you.”
Grinning at the change in tact on the girls part, Xios swung her around to face him and a hand on her chin tipped her face to look at him. “I want the two of you to enjoy your time away from the palace and feel free to buy whatever you want.”
“That's dangerous,” Samantha giggled playfully at the man, winking at the man who had made the offer to them, knowing what the outcome could be. “A woman with a credit card with unlimited spending, it never bodes well for the one covering the charges.”
He shrugged. “I think we can afford it. Netayah deserves the best.”
She nodded. “I will see it done, my l..alpha.”
Her head immediately snapped in the direction of the slightly older woman behind her, narrowing eyes on her as if trying to decipher her meaning. Had she seriously just been about to call him my love? Over her dead body. Netayah had just managed to find her mates and were building a relationship with them, no way in hell was she allowing anyone to take them away. Neither of them.
As if wanting to stamp her claim on the man she suddenly moved into him, then wrapping arms around that lean waist, she burrowed her head into his chest. None missed her lips kissing him through the shirt. “I'll see you at home later, Xi.”
A large hand came up to stroke through the hair flowing down her back, bringing her even closer still to his chest, as he leaned down to kiss her forehead. “Anything you say, love. Now get going before I change my mind and keep you here with me.”
She trembled. “That's a lousy threat.”
“Okay,” he thought. “I won't come home for dinner.”
That did the trick.
Promising to be on her best behavior, then with assurances of seeing him later, Netayah followed the woman out the main doors of the castle. Then approaching the cherry red corvette that was parked in the enormous driveway, proof of the money the woman came from, she climbed into the car. Samantha spent the next couple of minutes trying to spark a friendly conversation with the girl, all of which were met with stony silence. Finally she sighed. “Tell me something about yourself. Just one thing.”
Deciding to submit to the wishes of the older woman Netayah twisted around in her seat, looking her directly in the eyes when she spoke. “I don't like people touching what don't belong to them.”
She gulped. “I'll keep that in mind.”
“Good,” Netayah declared.
Turning back around to focus on the road in front of them, driving through the main gates of the castle, the rest of the drive was made in silence. Fine by her. She wasn't in a talkative mood.
