Chapter 31: Revelations

Stepping back from finishing adding a string of diamonds from her ears, soft eyes scrutinized her, as she considered her appearances for the night.

Anya whistled at the appearance of the one standing before her, seeming incapable of keeping her thoughts to herself. “If I was your mate there is no way I would be able to keep my hands off of you tonight. Damn your gorgeous.

Netayah blushed in embarrassment at the compliment that she'd received from her, though it had more to do with what the woman insinuated. God, the thought that her own mate would be so overcome with her appearance tonight got her heart hammering inside of her chest. Was that fear? Or excitement. Maybe a little bit of both, she decided.

“Thank you Anya, for everything.”

She bowed. “My pleasure miss.”

“You can call me Netayah,” she offered.

Backing a step further from the girl at the offer that had been made to her, Anya vehemently shook her head in denial. A mask of horror, as if the thought was unthinkable. “No Miss I couldn't do that, it would be improper & disrespectful. To call such a lady of quality by her name. Never.”

She shook her head in exasperation. “I am not a lady of quality, Anya. I'm not even a lady, not by society standards. I am no more than the rogue your gamma rescued from the thicket of the woods & the alphas had taken pity on.”

Yep, that sounded right. She didn't know what the alphas had told their people about the girl residing in their medical clinic, but elected to keep the news to herself. Just in case neither of them wished people to know the truth about her, she didn't want to say anything that could upset either of them.

“You are our Luna,” she declared defensively.

Coming to a skidding halt in the middle of the hallway, Anya having indicated that it was time for her to escort her dinner with them. Only to overhear the whispered statement that the woman had made to her, snapping her head around at the made in obvious shock. “You know?”

Anya smiled brightly. “Of course I know, miss. Everyone in the palace does. Alpha Xios and Alpha Xavier alerted those working in the palace of your importance to them the day you came here, wanting to insure to your care and protection.”

“The day I came?,” she gasped, shocked. All of this time everyone had been trying to insure her that her mate never had any intentions on rejecting her, but she hadn't listened to them. She'd truly believed that her mate didn't want her as his life partner & had intended on rejecting her, but had simply waited until she was better. Only now to be informed that had never been the intention from the man, as he had made a point of informing those in the palace of her importance. Definitely not something a man intending on rejecting the bond would have done, as he'd want to keep the knowledge to himself.

“Yes my lady,” the servant agreed.

“Thank you, Anya.”

“What for, miss?”

“For everything,” she mused.

Giving her the biggest and brightest smile she'd ever seen, making her feel like she had just won the lottery somehow, Anya continued on her way. Shaking her head humorously at the woman's response, she was beginning to realize that she’d never understand the strange ways of these people. Anya, just like Lucy and Abbie, were so different than what she'd expected. The people back home—or the miserable pack that used to be her home—were all about strength and power, its the only thing they understood or respected. All they cared about.

Yet, from everything she’d seen in her time in this town the people of Blue Diamond seemed to be about love, generosity and emotion. All of them freely offered her such a warm welcome and friendly smiles, as if the abilities were somehow permanently encoded in their DNA. Netayah didn't know if she would ever be able to get used to the way that people continued to treat her but she was most definitely looking forward to it. In that moment she knew that if she ended up staying in this place—Goddess please let that happen—then she would never have to be worried about loneliness and sadness. She knew in this place, this town she'd known for such a short time, she'd have true friendship, acceptance from the pack and even the love of a mate. It was something she was definitely looking forward to.

A little while later Anya came to a stop before the double wide oak stained doors, indicating that this was where she would be having dinner for the night. “Now this is where I must leave you, Miss. This is the alphas private dinning hall, only the member of the first family are allowed admittance inside.”

She frowned. “You say that like their royalty.”

“I did so miss,” she assured.

She was never given the opportunity to wonder on what the girl meant to her, as she slid the doors open and then bustled off back down the hall. Shaking her head to dislodge her own confusion as she watched her disappear around the corner, really beginning to doubt comprehending her. Pushing those thoughts out of her mind before they had the chance to distract her any further, Netayah focused on what had brought her there. Taking a deep breath to gather her strength needed to get through the night, Netayah stepped through the doors and entered the dining hall.

She'd barely taken a step inside when her gaze immediately focused on the center of the room, where both of them quietly waited for her arrival. Her eyes helplessly roved over the identical faces of the men that were presented to her tonight, unable to miss how incredibly gorgeous they were. Both of them stood there just before the enormous mahogany oak table, wearing the same expression of nervous energy and excitement.

Her gaze continued to glance between the two of them tonight, missing nothing of their appearance, still confused on their identity. There was very little to discern the difference in them, assuring when it came down to it only their own mother would be able to tell them apart. Mostly. Her attention went to the green eyed man who were a pair of designer dress slacks of black, a matching polo shirt of intense blue. While his double with the piercing ice blue eyes wore loose leather pants that hung on lean hips and a blue button down shirt made of silk.

Nor could she miss the tattoos that ran down the length of either of their arms and some on the side of their necks, though blue eyes seemed to be more extensive. Despite the both of them having the same face, identical down to the smallest feature, Netayah could tell they were different than night and day. The green eyed one appeared to be the one with the firm head on his shoulder, level head and undoubtedly was cool under business pressure. Pretty confident that his brother was the exact opposite, he would be the wild and reckless one, more of an adventurous soul that went where the wind took him.

Silence had stretched on for close to ten minutes when Blue Eyes--goddess she needed to find out his name--slowly stepped towards the girl who'd arrived. Offering her a roguish grin that was sure to knock the socks off all the ladies--a silent growl issued at that--he presented her a rose. “Hello beautiful, I'm glad you could make it.”

“Thank you,” she blushed crimson. It was difficult enough to accept such compliments like this from Abbie, Lucy and now Anya had joined in, it was a different story for this man. More deeply profunding. Then hooking one of her arms through his, she couldn't refute the electric spark that sizzled at the touch of the man, as he moved her towards the table.

He stopped at the head of the table. “This seat will do best for you.”
