Chapter 30: a new day
Waking up from a short nap sometime around one pm that afternoon, thoroughly exhausted from everything that she had endured the last several hours. Lumbering out of bed when she grew too anxious of lounging in bed all day, something she’d been doing the moment she'd woken up that first day. Grabbing the sweater hanging over the back of one of the chairs, Netayah shrugged it on as she moved to the double wide glass doors of the room.
Stepping out through french doors onto the stone patio, she breathed in the fresh autumn air and basking in the glow of the midday sunlight. It felt like ages since she’d been outside in the fresh air of the day, rather than the four days that passed since she'd fainted in the yard. Stretching out on the patio chairs set out for the patients to use, she leaned her head back into the seat, silently debating on what she was going to do.
Netayah still hadn't managed to figure out how she was going to approach the man for them to talk, as it was prover harder than she'd imagined. How exactly did one go about doing this? To openly talk to their mate, to allow them to give their bond a chance? To actually get to know each other. It proved far harder than she'd thought it could be.
Normally there wasn't a need for all of this extra fussiness, as wolves simply saw their mate for the first time and the connection was instant. There was never any need for them to talk out their problems or issues they could have or getting to each other on a deeper personal level. Dating was for the humans, their the ones that couldn't comprehend what was in front of their faces or had to search ages for the right one. Werewolves were different.
The moment they saw each other for the first time everything about them told them they belonged together, the vibrations, the spark, the essence. And from the moment their eyes stared into each other, the wolves felt as their entire being centered on the one before them, everything else failed to matter. The day two wolves met the bond was cemented between them, endured the custom bonding rituals and mated the first time that completely meld them. From that moment on the two wolves spent the rest of their lives together, building their bond and family, never once questioning their choices.
None of them had ever had to worry about the whole human dating ritual, of getting to know each other, to build a personal connection to. So she wasn't entirely certain of how to go about reaching out to her mate, to talk to him, to see where the both of them stood with each other? It was a foreign concept. Luckily, she didn't have to worry for long.
A knock came at the door.
“I'm on the patio,” she called out.
A couple of minutes later the servant Anya almost skidded out where she sat on the patio, placing a tray of food down on the table before her. “I am so glad you are feeling better today, Miss? You gave us all quite a scare.”
"She tipped her head. “I am feeling better, much better.”
“You will eat out here today,” Anya declared when she looked about ready to climb to her feet, never bothering to question the eating situation for the woman in question. “You need the sunlight and the fresh air will do you some good. Us wolves are not meant to be isolated indoors.”
She could definitely find herself agreeing with her on this account, as she had never been fond of the idea of being imprisoned inside all the time. Netayah often found herself climbing out the window to sit on the roof late at night, simply to be able to enjoy the pleasure of being outdoors. She reached for the lemonade. “Yes, I think I would like to eat outdoors today.”
“Good,” she declared.
Before anything could be said a knock came at the door for a second time, inviting in whoever else had elected to visit her room for lunch. Beta Jackson came out through the patio doors, presenting her an envelope and two white roses. “I have been asked by Alpha Xios and Alpha Xavier to personally hand deliver this to you.”
Touched by the gesture from the men, that had been one of many she'd received in the passing days, she inhaled deeply of the roses. Enjoying the almost sweet smell that clung to the petals, she reached for the envelope he'd brought to her and broke the seal to see the embossed card. “The alphas wish me to join them for dinner?”
“Ooh,” Anya cried excited. “Lucky you.”
Yes, lucky me, she thought.
Beta Jackson slowly bowed his head in ascent.”Yes Lady Netayah they are quite looking forward to taking the evening meal together.”
Waving the embossed card in front of her face no differently than the japanese fans she used to love to collect, Netayah debated on her answer. Then in the next moment she elected that this would be the perfect opportunity, as she’d been trying to find a way to broad the matter to them. Laying the card down she bobbed her head. “Please inform the alphas I would very much love to have dinner with them tonight, but to caution them to please keep it small. I'm not quite up to large crowds yet.”
He tipped his head. “I will let them know.”
Anya giggled following the man's departure from the room, rubbing hands together as she practically bounced all around the place. “A date with the alphas, you must be so excited. We'll have to get you freshly showered, a knockout outfit and get your hair done up.”
She waved her off. “It isn't necessary.”
Of course, Anya failed to listen to a word that came out of her mouth in protest, having set herself on the mission of insuring she was ready for the evening. Not even Netayah and all of her rejections of the plans she'd made, could sway the woman from the set course of action she'd chosen for the evening plans. So much like Lucy, it was difficult not to get caught up in her fussing.
The reason why promptly at six thirty she was dressed in a deep blue skirt that was pleaded with gold folds, the top was the same color scheme. The top was held up by golden straps, then the bust crossed her breasts, encasing them tightly that flowed down to just above her navel. Netayah wasn't entirely certain where the outfit Anya hand selected for her to wear tonight had come from and she hadn't attempted to ask her. The servant girl was far too vibrant and alive to be ignored, her giddy attitude was infectious and Netayah became just as excited as the maid clearly was.
Following her dressing in the garments she'd chosen for her, Anya had then styled her hair into a mass of curls atop her head, a few hanging down in her face. She had applied a fair amount of makeup which consisted of a thick rim of coal around her eyes that made the purple pop, some blue eye shadow & light pink lip gloss. Despite make up had never been her strong suit, as it hadn't been allowed for someone in her shoes, Netayah definitely approved of the look.
