Day Walker
"When did you last see her?" Elysium asked Lucien when she came into the living room.
"She ran out hours ago, normally she would have just come back. I never would have thought she would get stuck in the sun." Lucien told her with a sigh. "I'm worried about her."
"I am rather sure that she is smart enough to stay out of the sun. Plus she might be like your mother and be immune." Elysium told him then looked at Edgar. "Can you go look for her?"
"I am not a trained dog lady." Edgar cawed loudy. "Though I would hate to see the stupid vampire burn."
Edgar flew through the window going in the direction they had watched me go. I didn't know that he would come to find me. In the cave I sat thinking over the things I had said and done over the years. Thinking about my mother and how I had crushed her over and over again. Edgar just happened to be the one to tell me the truth in the worst possible terms. Maybe it was why I had taken it so badly. The little cave was cramped, but it was chilly in the cave. I could feel dampness on the walls as I sat waiting the day out. A few small critters crawled into the cave about the same time I did. When a cat came into view I was shocked that it would pick a cave of all places. It came over and laid on my lap. I looked at it like it had grown another tail or three. Why do animals keep coming to me? I am not a nice person.
"Well I see you are the snow white of vampires?" Edgar called at me from the cave entrance.
"Shut up you daft bird." I threw a stone at him, but he hoped out of it's way.
"If that is how you are going to treat me I will tell your twin you burned in the sun." Edgar hopped away from the cave.
I screamed at him as he hopped away from the cave. When my hand went into the sun I expected to burn. To feel something but it wasn't a burn. I stepped out of the cave to stand in the sun light. I fell back when Edgar came at him with all his weight pushing me down. I squeeled as I fell to the gound. I pushed him off my chest glaring at him as well.
"What the hell are you doing?" Edgar asked with fear in his voice. "You are a vampire dumb ass."
"Yes, but I'm also the daughter of a day walking vampire. My mother has nano's that make it to where she can walk in the sun. Dad can as well. Not a shock that I could as well." I glared at him as I spoke.
"Well no one told me that information." Edgar grumbled as he hoped away from me.
I stood up brushing the dirt off my clothes. As I stood I walked into the sun feeling it on my skin. It was strange but I kind of liked it. Why didn't we try this before? I walked all the way home with the sun on my skin. When I walked into the house Lucien almost fell off the couch. Eylisum smiled brightly at me. I knew she would tell mom and dad about it.
"You are in the sun!" Lucien called out at me. Like I didn't already know that.
"Yes, I seem to be fine with it." I told him walking into the house toward my bedroom. "I'm going to bed. Night."
"Wait, you can't just walk away after that entrance." Lucien ran after me.
"Oh I can and I will." I called closing the door behind me. "Good night Lucien."
I could hear him cusing at my door, but he wouldn't open it. Thankfully I didn't have to wory about him entering the room without me giving him permisson. A moment later I heard him walking down the hall to his room. Edgar pecked at door asking to enter but needed the door opened. So I cracked the door open to let him in. Edgar seemed to not want to stay around me. It didn't bother me much, but I wondered why he was that way. When he entered the room he flew up to the post of the bed. He seemed to like being that high.
"Well you are looking happy." Edgar cawed out at me.
"Shouldn't I be? I can walk in daylight. I have always wanted to, but dad told me I shouldn't try." I smiled brightly as I grabed a night shirt heading toward the bathroom. "You stay out there."
I had a feeling that he would love to spy on me, but I always closed the door before he could get in. After a quick shower and braiding my hair I slipped into the bed but my mind wouldn't stop running in circles. That I could indeed walk in the sunlight. A smile was stuck on my face and I couldn't stop smiling. I picked up my phone to check my soical media. A few friends had sent me messages. I answered them all then checked my emails. Nothing great or needed really. So I closed it out to play a game for a while.
"What are you doing?" Edgar asked as he swooped down to the bed.
"Nothing really, just playing a game. I have always loved sorting type games." I tell him as I move the blue ones to go with the other blue ones.
"Shiny!" Edgar cawed wanting to peck at the screen.
"Hey keep that beak away from my phone." I yell at him as I moved the red to the red. He watched as I moved the items around the screen.
"Well I don't even know how you use that thing." Edgar told me with a grunt of unhappines.
"It wouldn't have been invented when you turned into a bird. I did find it strange that you can recall your mother and part of your life as a human, but can't recall how long it has been." I looked at him with wonder.
"It is strange that I can recall things that happened when I was a human. Maybe it was part of the curse to make me recall my human fmaily but not recall how long ago I lost them." Edgar gave a strange noise then flew up to the post again.
"That seems to be a new form of torture. What the hell did you do to get turned into a crow?" I asked but he wan't looking my way.
He didn't even seem to notice I was talking to him. I wondered if it bothered him that all his family was gone. I know I would be lost without most of my family. Even with the way I treated my mother I would be lost without her. She had given me so much but I still didn't know why I acted like an ass around her.
