What the hell was I thinking, letting my feelings for this human woman cloud my judgment. The killers were still on the loose, not that I didn’t already know that information. The past few days had been like haven, to touch her taste her sweet skin. Pushing into her hot pussy was driving me insane. Her scream came from nowhere and I almost missed the men taking Natalia. The fact that they had shot me too didn’t help much. With my vampire metabolism the drugs didn’t really have a chance to take effect, but I went down so that I would stay with her. The humans they had working the system needed to be told to watch for vampires when they took the subjects. After a few moments in the van I sat up and looked to the two men then glared at the thoughts coming from them. They wanted to rape Natalia just because of the outfit, they laid a hand on her and I would rip their heads off.
“You should really think about who you are taking before you take them boys.” I spoke from the back of the van.
The van almost went off the road before the humans corrected it. They were shocked to see I was sitting up holding Natalia in my arms. She was cold to the touch and had bruises on her arms. These two would find out what it meant to mess with vampires chosen.
“You have no idea who this woman is, or who I am. The good doctor has neglected his duties in informing you on whom to take and not take.” Draven spoke with hate in his voice.
“Shut up and stay down or we will shot you.” The shaky voice of the passenger came to my ears.
“Such strong words for a man who almost shit himself when I sat up, I am rather sure the doctor will have something to say about this. What did you give her?” Draven could bearly hear her heart beat. Her breath was shollow.
“It is a small dose of special K.” The driver said as he glanced to him.
“You gave her a large dose of the drug, no wonder the subjects are dying so fast. Little less powerful drugs would be in order.” Draven told them with a growl.
“Some of these whores are hooked on other stuff, so a more powerful drug is needed. With someone that is clean it is harder to get it right. Some have died from the dose. Is she healthy normally, other than being a little…” The man stopped talking.
“If I were you human I would shut your mouth. If she dies you go with her.”Just for the show of it I showed my fangs.
I really hated humans that thought they were better than vampires. Not many knew about vampires, but the day was coming that we would have to show the humans we lived. Not many of the older vampires wanted anything to do with that idea. As I thought of this I felt it, her heart stop then start again. My worry jumped to my throat and I wondered if she would live through this trip.
“Her heart just stopped. How far are we from the lab?” Draven was almost in a panic.
“Ten maybe twenty minutes." The driver said looking scared.
“She isn’t going to make it. You gave her to much of the drugs. You really should check those to be sure you are not killing just by having the drugs in there system.” Another shudder in her heart beat. Worry skipped from my mind to my throat and I knew what I had to do to save her. “Have you ever seen a turn?”
That was a no from both of them; it would take the body at least ten minutes to deal with the first draws of vampire blood. Twenty for the turn to really start to take a hold of her system. I didn’t really want to turn her this way; I wanted her to understand what was happening to her how it would feel. The fear didn’t tell me what to do about her death.
“You’re about to, she is going to die in the next ten minutes thanks to the two of you!” I did the only thing I could think of, I tore into my wrist and pressed my wrist to her mouth.
The blood oozed out of my wrist into her mouth. At first she didn’t seem to want to swallow, after a moment the human reaction to do that or drown took over she swallowed the first mouth full, then another. The wound healed soon after I hugged her to me, wanting nothing more than to take away the issue of having to turn her.
Terror entered my heart at the way she started to thrash on the floor of the van; even with my strength it was almost impossible to stop her from almost breaking the door. The screams tore at my heart and my soul if I still had one this would be the true test to how much I really did love this woman. Could I sit here and see her in such pain? Not like I had another place to be. I had to be sure she lived through this change. It would be hell on her and me to work though this. She would hate me for a while, I was rather sure of that. Why the hell did they have to try and hunt for new subjects on Halloween. So many women did dress as whores just to get the thrill of it.
“How much longer?” Draven growled from the back.
It came out a growl I knew the two men were shaken by the way Natalia was thrashing on the floor. The reason most people didn’t try to turn without medical help is because it hurt like hell. The blood tried to erase the damage done to the body over the years; on top of that it would normally try to put the person at their peak of health. At that moment the van jolted to a stop, the side doors opened and I glared and then growled at the man standing there.
