Chapter 15 CHAPTER 15
"I do not know " Koda said.
"Go find out, you better pray to the Goddess that they have not burned it yet." I said angrily. Koda ran from my office. I leave for two day to investigate to see if an injured rouge is one of us to come home to this shit. The injured rouge had been one of our people. I had to wait a day to bring him home. He was resting comfortably in our pack hospital. I open my desk drawer and touched the red velvet box. " how soon will you be here child of the Fire Sky?" I asked aloud. Hoping beyond hope it would be soon. Koda came back into my office with a grim face.
"Alpha, I'm sorry." He said.
"Well was he or not?" I yelled.
"Yes, Alpha he was. I'm sorry." Koda said.
"Get out of my site. Prepare him for a proper for his rite of passage. His death is on your hands Koda you better not do this again. Or friend or no friend I will remove you as Beta and choose my own Beta.
"Yes, Alpha. I'm sorry." Koda said and left my office. Why had I agreed to keep him on. He was old and useless to me. This was his final warning. I went and stood looking out the window watching the few children we had play. In the last year only, men had made it to the pack. How many would lose there lives making the trip home. I went down to the gym to work out. I needed to get rid of this anger in me. We were seeing more and more of our people making it home. But eighty five percent were me the rest women, but none were her.
"She will come my son, be patient." My mother said in a link to me.
"Invading my thought again, mother"
"No actually I was linking you to see how the new arrival you brought home was doing,” She said.
"He will live. Unlike the the one that came here last night and Koda let him die." I said to her.
"You don't need to honor your father's wishes. He is old send him with the elders and choose a new Beta son."
"I'm thinking about it." Then I closed the link. Swinging at the punching bag as hard as I could.
RAVEN'S POV
It had been about four weeks that I had been traveling with my new friends. Imara and I have gotten close fast. She takes care of me and let no one bully me. I have learned a few things from them as well. I have not shown much of my abilities. I can hunt well for not having my wolf fully with me. I have learned to fish. But my way is faster. Most thing they did not see me do.
"Raven, have you any abilities yet?" Imara asked as we were eating the food I caught.
"Some, but I have no control over them yet. I don't know how to make them work. Sometimes it just happens and it scares me." I told her.
"You are young yet, when you shift for the first time you may have better control." She said passing me the jug of water.
We were more south now and there was no snow. I no longer needed my heavy winter coat. Imara helped me take it apart and make a light jacket out of it. We used other parts of the coat to fix clothes. And the Roman stored what was left for later.
We all got on good together, I was feeling like I had a second family. One night I think it was April the rain had stopped and we had more sunshine. We would travel for a day or two then camp for a week or so. The guys always found cash jobs from someone needing something done. I never asked questions.
The guys had done some job. When they came back Kyle said we should head away from the area. Imara and Roman had an argument about it in the end Imara got her way we would head out in the morning. We had just settled to sleep. When we heard men yelling
"They are this way. When I get my hands on that filthy rouge I will gut him slowly." One man yelled. They were not far. I scrambled quickly to me feet and told them to get close. I crouched down as they started coming through the trees. I lifted my hand and cast out an illusion of forest where we stood with my eyes. All the warriors could see were hundreds of feet of dense trees.
"I thought you said they were here?"
"Smell, they were here"
I kept the Illusion up until they were gone. Now I just needed to sleep. I laid down and closed my eyes.
"What just happened?" Kyle asked.
"Raven did some thing!" Nigel said.
"Raven are you ok?" Imara asked.
"Just need sleep." I said.
IMARA'S POV
What the hell just happened I thought we were dead for sure. What did Raven do? My mind was reeling. I covered Raven up tucking her bag under her head.
"When she wakes up we move out." I told the others.
"What did she do?" Kyle asked me.
"Hell if I know. She has some explaining to do. Nigel make sure everything is packed. Roman cover up all the tracks."
"Wake her up we need to go now," Kyle said.
"Screw you, Kyle whatever she did took all her energy. We will let her sleep a couple hour." I told him.
"Are you she is a wolf and not a witch?" Kyle asked. He was annoying as hell I wanted to get rid of him but Roman and Nigel liked him.
"Yes she has a wolf, she talks with Poppy all the time. How do you think I know so much about her." I said.
"Well you never saw that coming, did yah? Did you see her eyes the were purple and black with a touch of red." Roman said.
"Don't look in her eyes. She could kill you with them." I told him.
"She is dangerous." Nigel said.
"Yes, we can use that to our advantage, against others." I told them.
I gently woke her after two hours.
"Raven, come on we have to get moving." I told her.
"What happened?" She asked as she got up.
"Why don't you tell me, Raven." I asked.
"I created an illusion that when they looked at us they just saw a dense forest." she admitted.
"How many time have you done that?" I asked.
"Just twice when I was really scared. I have no idea how to just do it." She told me. She sounded like she was telling the truth. I know people like Raven usually can't control their abilities until they got their wolf. So, I took her at face value
"Can you walk?" I asked.
