Chapter 115 - The Blessed Luna
Shelby's POV
Things change every day. Now that we are back at home and into a routine with the boys, it's a little easier. It's been a week and every day something different happens. I was shocked when I fully heard what happened to Elizabetha and Damian. We have been working very hard with her. Daminix has been very patient and loving. My heart bleeds for him sometimes. Elizabetha seems to remember some things, here and there a memory will be triggered. I plan on going back inside her mind eventually, to see if I can help. Since I helped Asteria right after birth my power and body have been drained and are slowly recovering. We will figure it all out, eventually. It is crazy how a vampire King has to have a child with a human and turn her before birth, but now the vampire was turned into a human after birth.
Athena had asked to move in to help along with Rhea. I agreed not thinking much of it. Ares and Hephaestus also asked to take over trainings to help out. My mom and dad pop in and play with the boys constantly, then pop out on business. Sometimes there is an uneasiness with everyone, that hasn't gone unnoticed by me. Hyperion hasn't been seen much, but he finds a few minutes a day to come say hey to the boys. I think Damian is his favorite, but he wouldn't admit it. Mom said they kind of share a bond now that he saved his life. Giving Damian some of his life förce connects them.
I have caught a few hushed whispers here and there amongst them all. I feel something more is going on. Time will tell. All things done in the dark will come into the light. I'm not going to ask because I already know they won't tell me. Thomas hasn't let any of us do any pack work. He won't let any pack members see us either. He says when the babies are a little older he will announce them to the pack. Probably when summer comes around. I'm enjoying my time right now, learning to be a mom. I'm so glad we all get to experience this together. Our husbands come by often during the day to see the boys.
Daminix had to go to a clan of his in Australia last night. Some issues arose with some local humans. You could see the pain in his eyes having to leave Elizabetha and their new baby. I know he will be back soon. Maybe I will be stronger when he comes back and we can help her. She understands the whole supernatural thing because she was a minor goddess. It's as if she reverted back to before she became a vampire. She remembers her sister, other gods, and titans. She just doesn't remember us. Gammy said being a vampire was a traumatic life for her and she may have locked away those memories to save herself the pain of them.
I try to rest as much as possible. Thomas takes Alex for a few hours every day so I can rest. I don't understand how my power and energy were drained so much. I should've healed by now. Every time I think about it too much I get a headache. Something doesn't feel right. I don't want to voice my concerns and worry anyone. I wouldn't be surprised if other haven't noticed my lack of recovery. Right now I'm suppose to be resting in my room. Maybe there is one person I can confide in ...
"Hecate!"
"Hello, little one."
"I'm having a hard time recovering. My power is still weak and I get tired easily."
"My dear, you just gave birth to the King of Power. Where do you think that power came from?"
"You mean ..."
"Yes. You gave your power to him. All the power you had ... exchanged into him. These boys are special indeed. They already hold their powers. They won't have to wait till 18 to gain them."
"But will I recover?"
"Yes, little one. Your power is a neverending sorce. You just depleted it. You gave so much power to Alex and then healed Asteria with what was left. It will be back full force in a month or so. That is why everyone is here to help you."
"What a relief. I was worried."
"Would it matter?"
She looked at me in a weird curious way.
"Would what matter?"
"If you lost your power because of your son gaining it."
"No. I lived my whole life without it."
"Good answer. A true great mother would sacrifice herself for her child. You were wondering if you'd be a great mother ... you will."
"Please stay out my head."
She laughed at my expression.
"Is that all dear?"
"Yes. I'm going to rest now. I feel so tired."
"Rest and take care of your son. Little by little you will see your power return. Goodbye, little one."
Before I could say goodbye she was gone. I went over to the bed and climbed under the covers. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was gone off to dreamland.
...
There stood a man crying. Others furious. I saw Thomas beside the man, holding him. I saw hurt, pain, and rage flashing in his eyes. The man looked up, as if looking into my soul, his wounded face had a huge gash across it. I recognized this man. He was my son, his eyes gave him away.
"You tried to kill me. Why mama, why?" He cried out.
I tried to kill him? I saw my arm lift up and a plama ball form. I couldn't control myself, I tried desperately to stop my own actions. I threw it at him, but Thomas stepped in front of him and absorbed it into himself.
"Shelby, what have they done to you?" Jenna screamed through her own tears.
She ran over to, who I now know is Alex, and checked his face. She hugged him and tried to get him to go with her. As they were walking away, I formed another plasma ball. I tried even harder to stop myself. I shot it right at Jenna's back, taking her down. She wasn't prepared for the attack so she was an easier target. James grabbed her and Alex and ran away.
"Baby, what is going on? What did they do to you? Come back to us!" Thomas pleaded, breaking down and falling to his knees.
I turned my head when a hand was placed on my shoulder. I looked at the hand, then up at the man. My heart fell and my skin crawled. It was Apollo, and he was very much alive.
"Good job, my love." He boasted, his smirk dripping with arrogance.
My love? My stomach turned upside down and I wanted to vomit on him. Good job? I just disfigured my son's face and could've killed my best friend. I looked around behind him. They weren't the only ones I attacked. As my eyes moved across the area, I saw bodies everywhere. Some burnt from fireballs, some with arrows sticking out of them, and the rest were hit with plasma balls. Thousands of bodies. I did this? I killed my own kind? Arrows? Apollo helped.
"Great job, new sis." I snapped my head in Artemis' direction.
I woke up with a jerk. What in the hëllfire of the Underworld was that? What caused me to turn on everyone? How did Apollo and Artemis come back? Was this just a nightmare or a premonition of something to come? I felt nauseous. The dream was so real. I couldn't do that to my loved ones.
"Mommy's up?" Thomas cooed as he was coming in the room with Alex. "Someone's hungry ... Shelby, what wrong?"
He put Alex in his bassinet by the bed. He went to the bathroom and a moment later came out with a wet rag.
"Baby, you're sweating. Are you ok?" He asked as he wiped my face with the cool rag.
"I had a nightmare. That's all."
He let out a sigh of relief. I'm not going to worry him over something that may be nothing. I'll see what I can figure out first. It felt too real to be just nothing.
"Want to feed Alex, then go have dinner ourselves?" He smiled sweetly.
I picked up Alex and held him close. How could I ever hurt my own baby? I positioned him and fed him. His sweet little hand wrapped around my finger. I kissed his forehead, silently vowing that I'd protect him with my life.
--- If it's a premonition, I have time to change things. I won't let anyone hurt my family, even if that someone is me. ---
