Chapter 44
Leo
“What?” Charlotte shrieked. She glared at Sam again. “Married” she mouthed like she was trying to say a dirty word around a toddler.
Sam nodded and put his hands up defensively before she could hit him again.
“Does she know that?” She whirled to glare at Alex and Leo.
“Clearly not” Alex said stiffly
Leo began to unbutton his shirt. “It’s you Carian, It’s only ever been you.” He said as he pressed her face against his bare chest and rubbed her back and shoulders. “Stay with me. I need you.”
“What’s he doing?” Charlotte asked as she watched him.
“He’s trying skin to skin contact to help bring her out of her head.” Sam explained but Charlotte shook her head. “It’s a tribal thing, just like the ritual that the Twins did to marry her. It should work.”
“Why does she think I’m engaged to someone else?” Leo asked as she continued to press his body all over Wendi. He was busy rubbing his hands and unique scent on all of her exposed skin, while Alex also scented her by doing the same thing.
“Not you. Alex. Your father told her that the two of you were just using her and that Alex was getting married soon.” Charlotte shook her head and looked like she would be sick.
“Adam said some really horrible things to her. After hearing them, I wanted to hurt you. If I find out any of it is true. I will kill both of you.” She threatened them.
“I would believe her about the hurting you thing. My baby has a mean right hook. It turns out my girlfriend can really take care of herself.” Sam said as he rubbed his jaw again.
Charlotte looked at him through narrowed eyes. “Girlfriend?”
He nodded and gave her a shy smile. “I didn’t mean to blurt it out like that but yeah. I want you to be my girlfriend.” Sam blushed. He looked at the ceiling and let out a long breath. Charlotte didn't say anything, she just shrugged.
Alex looked like he was going to be sick. “I knew my father wasn’t happy about this relationship but I never thought he would take it that far. He should have known better. The bond has been made. We literally cannot live without her.”
Leo was quickly running out of ideas on how to bring Wendi around. He has been sure that telling her the truth would make her understand that it had all been a lie. Nothing he did seemed to making a difference and her skin was getting colder by the minute. He felt absolutely useless, and he was really starting to freak out. “What do we do, Alex?”
Alex scrunched up his face and thought for a moment. He got off the floor where he had been kneeling at her feet and sat down on the couch. He took Wendi from Leo’s lap and began to unbutton his own shirt. He pulled her against his bare chest. “Since I’m the one who broke her, maybe it has to be me who fixes her.”
Leo watched as Alex leaned in and began to whisper into Wendi’s ear. “Enaid, You are the only woman for me. I will never want another. I can’t do this without you. My life is in your hands. I want you, and only you.”
He looked into her eyes and began to place small kisses across her cheeks and over her nose, while he pleaded with her to come back to him.
Leo was almost hysterical as he watched Wendi lay limply on Alex’s chest. Alex appeared to be getting more and more frustrated. In what looked like one last act of desperation, he grabbed her face and kissed her, hard.
Leo was sure her lips would be bruised and purple but he didn’t try to intervene. There was nothing in this world he wanted more than for her to come back to him. His thoughts raced and suddenly he found himself involuntarily leaning forward. He began kissing her marking spot. “I, Alpha Leonardo Black, of Blackrock, DO NOT accept your rejection, Wendi White. I am still given.” He said between kisses to her neck.
Slowly he began to feel Wendi stir under him. She let out a strangled cry and the Twins froze. She pushed them away and tried to escape Alex’s lap. Her heart was beating erratically. “Stop,” she screamed as she slithered into the floor and away from the twins.
“Stay away from me!” She sobbed as she backed across the room on all fours until her back hit something solid. She sat down and put her head between her knees. Her body shook from head to toe as she sobbed hysterically.
“It was a lie, Enaid. My father lied to you. There is no one else.” Alex said as he tried to approach her. Wendi shook her head and gestured for him to stop.
Leo watched as Charlotte crossed the room and sank down on the floor beside her instead. She pulled Wendi against her body and repeatedly told her, “You’re okay now.”
After a while, Wendi’s sobs began to slow. Her breathing began to return to normal and Leo thought they might be through the worst of it. Charlotte continued to comfort her, while Leo and Alex watched helplessly from the couch.
“I felt like I was dying.” Wendi finally said quietly.
“That because you almost did.” Charlotte countered. She shot the Twins a nasty look.
“Wait, What? How?” Wendi looked more lost and confused than Leo has ever seen her. She appeared to still be on the edge of tears.
“These two knuckle heads tried some kind of hocus pocus ritual on you. And from my best guess, it backfired, or they were possibly trying to kill you. The details are fuzzy and they aren’t doing much talking. Personally I'm choosing to be pissed.” Charlotte was glaring at Leo. He felt like her eyes where going to burn a hole right through him.
“It wasn’t like that,” Leo tried to explain. “ We would never hurt her. We were just trying to complete the bond. It was supposed to bind her to us.”
Charlotte looked murderous. Her hands balled into fists and she glared at Leo. Suddenly he was afraid of what she might do.
“So you are telling me, my best friend almost died because you were what? Insecure!” Charlotte screamed!
