Chapter 642 A Day as an Assistant

Chapter 642 A Day as an Assistant

'What should I do now? Should I accept these clothes or not?' After thinking it over, I decided. 'Why not? It's not like I have to pay for them.'

So, I tried on all the dresses. I have to say, Victoria really did her homework on me. The sizes were perfect, and she had a good eye for fashion. These dresses looked great on me.

I decided to wear one of the long dresses to work. But just as I opened the door to leave with Maria, I found Victoria standing there. It looked like she had been waiting for a while.

"Not bad, just a little less stunning than me," Victoria said, her words as sharp as ever. Maria was about to defend me, but I stopped her. "Thanks for the clothes," I said.

"No need to thank me. Consider it a small compensation. Since you're wearing the dress, you need to help me out. My assistant is unavailable, and I have a commercial shoot today. I need you to be my assistant for the day."

"What? You want Emily to be your assistant? Dream on," Maria snapped. If Victoria weren't a woman, Maria might have already thrown a punch.

"Don't forget, Matthew asked you to take care of me in Everglade City. If you can't handle this small favor, how can you take care of me?" Victoria said, self-righteously.

Using Matthew to pressure me? My hand clenched into a fist where Victoria couldn't see, but I quickly relaxed. Matthew did ask me to look after Victoria in Everglade City. Since she asked, I might as well go along. It was not like I had much to do at the company anyway. The five bosses were already under enough pressure.

"Alright, I'll be your assistant for the day. Consider it a thank you for the clothes," I said, pointing to the dress I was wearing.

So, Maria became Victoria's driver, and I became her assistant. Since I was going to a commercial shoot, I couldn't wear the dress. I changed into some workout clothes, tied my hair into a ponytail, and put on a baseball cap.

I looked in the mirror. Now I looked more like an assistant, and I wouldn't steal Victoria's spotlight.

Victoria was pleased with my outfit. "You're sensible. This is good," she said.

Her condescending attitude still bothered me, but for Matthew's sake, I had to endure it.

Honestly, I could have refused to be Victoria's assistant today. Her request was unreasonable, but I thought it would be fun to tag along. I was curious about a day in the life of a celebrity.

Maria drove us to a suburban villa based on the address Victoria provided. Everglade City was a small town, so not many people bought villas here. The neighborhood was quiet, almost deserted.

Victoria handed me her bag. I took a quick look inside. It was filled with everyday items like a water bottle, a neck pillow, and a small fan. "You're in charge of this bag today. When I need something, you have to give it to me immediately," she said.

"Who do you think you are? Emily, let's go," Maria said, pulling me away. I quickly stopped her and shook my head. "Wait for us in the car," I said.

Maria was furious that I didn't want to leave. She stormed back to the car and slammed the door.

"Your employee isn't as sensible as you. You should hire more people like yourself," Victoria said.

"Cut the crap, or I'll leave right now," I said coldly. Seeing I was serious, Victoria wisely shut her mouth.

The commercial shoot was inside the villa. When we arrived, the director greeted Victoria warmly and called for the makeup artist to get her ready. As for me, I just had to stick by Victoria and do my assistant duties.
