HAPILY EVER AFTER

HAPILY EVER AFTER

Madison’s POV

Nine months later!

“This way,” Michael whispered into my left ear while his hands were covering my eyes.

He has been working on the baby’s room for months with Georgia and they refused to show me the outcome until this morning when Michael announced that it was all done.

I followed his lead to the door while dragging my heavy feet and panting slightly. Michael opened the door.

“Ready?”

“Sweetheart, I’ve been ready for months now. You can take off your hands,” I replied. I was dying to catch a glimpse of the room.

Michael smiled and finally removed his hands from my eyes. I wiped my eyes repeatedly with the edge of my palms and looked into the room.

The first item I spotted was the large pink teddy bear resting on the small bed in a corner. Right next to it were other plush toys.

I began to take slow steps into the room.

The entire walls were painted pink. The tiny closet was a pink one as well as the rug covering the floor.

Meanwhile, we had a baby shower two months ago and I made it clear to everyone that I wasn’t going to have any gender reveal. I wanted to figure out the baby’s gender right on delivery despite getting a report from Dr. Magdalene.

Michael was already aware of the baby’s gender.

But now, standing in this room, surrounded by a pink wall, pink plush pillows, and a pink closet, I couldn’t help but get a clue.

My eyes began to water.

Michael walked into the room and held my hands. “Looks like we’re going to have a mini Madison,”

I cupped my mouth with both hands and blinked back tears.

Michael turned to the wall. “She’ll be beautiful, graceful, charming, intelligent and just everything you are,” he said.

I giggled. “She’ll be more,”

On one side of the wall was a painting of plants and animals. Michael folded his arms across his chest. “Do you think she’s going to love nature?”

I hummed. “That explains it,” I pointed at the art on the wall.

“Well, I have a deep conviction that she’s going to love nature just like you and that’s why…

Michael was still speaking when I let out a scream. He turned to me.

A sharp pain had just coursed through my back and settled on my waist. I positioned my hands on my waist and tried to lift my legs but they won’t move.

Michael rushed toward me and held me.

I bent halfway and opened my mouth to breathe. “I’m having contractions. I think she’s ready,” I managed to tell him.

Michael’s eyes widened. “I thought she was not due until next week,”

I turned to him with my forehead covered in a cold sweat. “That’s just an expected delivery date. She can come out,.,” I screamed and placed one hand on the wall.

“Stay right here,” I’ll go get the car and then get you to the hospital,” Michael said and ran out of the room.

I stationed my back against the wall and kept my legs apart. The pain was excruciating. I felt the baby moving down my abdomen and then a splash dropped in between my legs.

“Hurry, up!” I tried to scream.

The door was pushed open and Georgia rushed in. I turned to her. My whole body was already covered in sweat.

“My water just broke,”

Suddenly, another person came crashing into the room. My jaw almost dropped to the floor.

“Mom?”

My father walked in.

Jeeez!

How eventful can this day get?

“We received your letter yesterday. Your mother insisted we leave immediately even though the baby is not due until next week but it looks like we came just in time,” my father said.

Georgia wiped the sweat on my forehead with the back of her palm and tried to unzip my dress.

My mother rushed toward me and held my waist with both hands. She tried to still me.

The contractions struck harder and I wanted to roll on the floor and wail. I began to breathe heavily.

“Take it easy. Follow my lead and let’s get you in the car. Everything will be okay. Just breathe,”

Michael’s POV

Laughter, music, love, family, and well-wishes filled our garden tonight. Madison and I decided to throw a soirée with our little circle to celebrate the birth of our daughter.

My parents-in-law, Richard and Carissa, Dr. Magdalene, my business associates, some of my pals from the men’s club, the workers in my household not forgetting Tony, the mercenary leader, and the police chief formed our guest list.

Tonight, we are throwing a party to celebrate the addition to our family and to also appreciate the people who worked in one way or the other to ensure our love stood the test of time.

Madison was seated in a red velvet dress and even though I was standing meters away from her while facing the crowd, I couldn’t take my eyes off her.

Right next to her is a baby cot and our little bundle of joy was swatted inside. She’s a week old.

Madison delivered our daughter barely thirty minutes after reaching the hospital and when I held her in my arms, I cried.

How did I get so lucky?

Not only do I have a child whom I’ve always wanted, but I have a wife I hopelessly love and adore.

I won in life with Madison. Even though I wanted our daughter to look like her so bad, our princess came out with my hazel eyes and anytime I look into her eyes, I see my life and everything worth fighting for.

Richard cleared his throat loudly. I turned to him. He was standing next to me and was hosting the event as usual.

“We are all waiting for you to announce the baby’s names and give a little speech before we carry on with the rest of the night,” Richard told me.

“Of course,” I sighed and turned to the crowd. Looks like I’ve been so carried away by the thoughts of my good fortune that I forgot the entire reason why I was standing before everyone.

I cleared my throat loudly. “My wife and I have decided to call her Mira, Eleanor, and Harris”

Everyone clapped.

Lord and Lady Worthington clapped the hardest.

Madison didn’t get the chance to answer her real name since she was taken so we thought of transferring the name ‘Eleano’ to our beautiful daughter as a form of heritage.

I lifted my glass of wine. “Mira is lucky to have you all and I can’t wait for her to grow so that she’ll learn of how she came to be. She’ll know of the people who fought for her and the small army surrounding her. She is indeed lucky,”

The crowd clapped and cheered.

“And to Madison, my incredible wife,” I turned to her with a twinkle.

She blew me a kiss.

“I used to say that I don’t believe in happily ever afters but you came into my life and changed that narrative,”

Madison smiled.

“Thank you for being my ray of sunshine. I can’t wait to have more babies with you,”

Madison fell on the table and roared in laughter. Everyone laughed.

“And lest I forget, our foundation for orphaned children has been named after Mira and it shall commence full operation by tomorrow,” I turned to Richard. “Thank you for being a
true friend,”

He gave me a pat on the back. “Anytime buddy. Now off to your seat. We have a party to enjoy!”

“Yeah!” everyone roared.
