Chapter 212 Are you sure about this Elisa?
The heavy silence in the bridal suite seemed to press down on Elisa from all sides, thick with the weight of years gone by and choices that could never be undone.

Theodore stood before her, his silver-streaked hair catching the light, his eyes holding a desperate, almost foreign plea for her to turn back. For a brief, terrifying second, the ghost of her old life whispered in her ear,the cold hallways of the Lee estate, the endless pressure, the safety of a gilded cage where she was just an heiress and a singer instead of a mother.

Before Elisa could find her voice to answer her father, Olga stepped forward. The older woman gently pushed Theodore aside, her emerald-silk gown rustling softly against the floor. She reached out, cupping Elisa’s tear-stained face in both of her trembling hands. Her thumbs brushed softly over Elisa’s cheekbones, wiping away the remnants of the tears that had ruined the makeup.

"Look at me, Elisa," Olga whispered, her voice cracking with an intense, maternal emotion. "Forget the empire. Forget the boardrooms, and the bodyguards. I don't care about the Lee family crown right now. I just want to know... are you truly happy because that's when I can genuinely be at peace?"

Elisa blinked, a fresh wave of tears springing to her eyes. She looked deep into her mother’s eyes, searching for any sign of manipulation, any trace of the cold expectations she had grown up with. But all she saw was raw, unfiltered love.

"Mom..." Elisa's voice trembled, a choked whisper.

Olga smiled gently, a sad, nostalgic smile that reached her eyes. "Do you remember when you were just a little girl? Whenever the world got too heavy for you, whenever your father and I argued about the company, you used to run out to the back gardens. You would sit by your grandmother’s old stone bench and play your violin until the sun went down. You played with such freedom, Elisa. Your music was your own and that world was yours and yours alone."

Elisa let out a wet, watery laugh, a sob catching in her throat as the memory washed over her. She could practically smell the blooming jasmine from her childhood garden, could feel the smooth wood of the violin against her collarbone.

"I remember," Elisa whispered, her voice barely audible. "I felt safe out there."

"You haven't played in a long time," Olga murmured softly, her thumbs brushing another tear away. "And I need to know, my sweet girl... do you feel safe now? Is this man giving you the music back, or is he just another cage?"

Elisa closed her eyes for a long moment, letting the question sink deep into her soul. She thought of the dark months in the hospital, the constant hum of the monitors, and the terrifying shadow of the masked stranger who had tried to poison her mind with ghost stories about Amanda. She thought of the doubts that had clawed at her heart.

Then, she thought of Ridge.

She thought of the way his broad shoulders shielded her from the world, the fierce, unyielding devotion in his dark eyes, the way he built an entire indoor wonderland of flowers just to welcome her home, and how carefully he cradled their baby son against his chest. He wasn't a cage. He was the ground beneath her feet when the rest of the world was burning.

Elisa opened her eyes, her gaze steady, clear, and absolute.

"I am at peace, Mom," Elisa said, her voice dropping all hesitation, ringing with a quiet, powerful conviction. "Ridge isn't a cage. He is the only reason I survived. I love him, and I choose this life. I choose him."

Olga stared at her daughter for a long, breathless second. Then, a slow, understanding sigh slipped past her lips. She pulled Elisa into another fierce, tight embrace, burying her face in her daughter’s veil.

"I know," Olga whispered against her ear, her voice dropping into a conspiratorial, urgent tone. "I know you love him. But... if you ever change your mind,if this world ever gets to be too much for you to bear, your father and I have a private jet waiting at the private airfield twenty miles East. We can help you run away, Elisa. Tonight. No questions asked."

Elisa pulled back just enough to look at her mother, a faint, affectionate smile touching her lips. She reached up and squeezed her mother’s hands.

"Thank you, Mom," Elisa said softly, shaking her head. "Really. But I'm not running anymore. I'm all grown up now. I'm not the runaway Lisa you used to chase through the estate gardens."

Olga let out a soft, breathless laugh, shaking her head with a mixture of pride and heartache. "No, you're not. You're a Lockhart now. God help us all." She said as she rolled her eyes dramatically.

From the corner of the room, the makeup artist cleared her throat nervously, holding a powder puff like a weapon. "Excuse me, Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Lockhart... but we have about six minutes before the string quartet transitions to the bridal march, and if we don't fix this face right now, the groom is going to marry a watercolor painting!"

Olga chuckled, kissing Elisa multiple times on both cheeks before stepping back. "Go on, then. Let the artist work her magic. Make him fall in love with you all over again."

The next few minutes were a blur of high-speed cosmetic rescue operations. Brushes swept across her skin, powder puffed into the air, and spray set the look in place. Just as the final pin was secured in her hair, Theodore stepped forward, offering his arm with a solemn, heavy expression.

"Are you entirely sure about this, Elisa?" Theodore asked for the absolute last time, his eyes searching her face one final time. "For the last time... is this what you want?"

Elisa looked down at her father’s outstretched arm, then up into his aging eyes. She placed her hand gently over his sleeve.

"I'm sure, Dad," she affirmed, her voice steady and clear. "Let's go."

The doors of the bridal suite swung open, and the ethereal, swelling notes of the bridal march floated up the grand staircase.
