Chapter 36: Someone Close
(I am sorry for the late chapter. I wasn’t well… hope you understand. I am sorry, the next chapter will be long)
Kaitlyn
I was in my room, as I waited for the food to come. Yeah, I am a hungry wolf right now. After the flight, I am completely exhausted.
The doorbell rang. “Come in”
A man came and kept the food on the table and went out. I ate the food and sat down on the bed. I was feeling tired but didn’t seem to catch any sleep.
I groaned in frustration. Maybe I should go out and have some fresh air.
I locked the room and went down to the reception. I submitted my card and was going out when suddenly the same voice called me.
“Hey”
I turned around. Kurt. Again.
“Hello”
“I was just wondering… are you going for a walk?”
“Yep”
“Mind if I join you?” he said so with an attractive smile. It was so cute and intimidating at the same time.
“Uh, nope”
He smiled. “Thanks”
I nodded and then we went out together. I knew nothing was gonna happen if I went out with someone. It will be better if I have a company anyway.
I walked as he seemed to be extremely quiet. “Don’t you like talking?”
“I like quiet things, don’t you?”
“Mostly” I replied. “But sometimes it’s good to talk” I said so because walking like this was quite awkward.
“Okay, so tell me. Where are you from?”
“America”
“Expected. Same here”
“Woah, good”
“You’re Daniel Sullivan’s wife?”
I looked at him shocked. He knows me? Well, yeah maybe because Sullivan’s Enterprises is a big company.
“Hm…”
“I heard about his recent confession. Is it true?”
I sighed. “I don’t wanna talk about it”
“Okay” he nodded. “But you’re happy now, right? being away from him?”
“Quite…” I sighed. I don’t know. I know I am not happy, at least. But I can’t let a stranger know my real feelings. “Yeah”
“Oh, that’s good. You should be happy”
I smiled and nodded. “And you? Are you some CEO?”
He laughed. “Do I look like one?”
“Umm yeah, eighty percent”
He chuckled. “No, I am not. I am just an employee in your husband’s company”
“Oh woa, in Sullivan Enterprises?”
“Yep” he smiled. “I recently joined his company. But I barely looked into his life or something. So I wasn’t so sure about you being his wife. but I saw you on television so I thought of confirming”
“Ah, that’s good to know that you are also… you know, from the same place”
“Yeah”
“So why are you here? Any business trips or personal vacation?”
He sighed and looked around. “I just came here because I loved Paris’ beauty. Although I think I will make use of this trip”
“Oh, how?” I asked him.
“Maybe he will need to bring his business to france”
“Oh…” I looked down. This is because of the confession, right?
“You know, because of the backlash”
“Hm…”
“I hope he didn’t, like… treat you really bad”
“Uh… leave it”
“okay”
I nodded and he nodded too. “You can feel comfortable around me, by the way. I am good in keeping secrets”
I smiled at him. “Yeah”
He slowly joined our hands and I looked at him. “Is it okay?”
I didn’t know how to react without making it awkward. “Yeah… okay”
I moved along the park with his hands in mine. It didn’t feel right, but it didn't feel wrong either. He looked trustworthy and he seemed to have no hidden intentions. It is not like I am gonna give in to him but… I can be a little close with someone. It is not that bad.
We moved to the park and talked about our personal likings. Apparently, there was a lot of common in us.
“Aren’t you completely… fed up with all the media around you?”
“yeah…” I sighed. “It completely suffocates me”
He laughed. “Oh they do?”
“Yep”
“So you hate the media?”
“Not like hate, but… yeah. I mean, they don’t even let us breathe. If it was possible, they would make headlines like, ‘see they breath!’”
He laughed hard on that. “Well, they aren’t that bad”
I smiled. “Hm, right. That was a hyperbole”
he smiled. “It was nice knowing you”
“Same to you” I smiled back.
“Are you going back now or shall we stay more?”
“Um… I am free. Whatever you want”
He thought for a minute. “You are here to escape the world, or to have some free time or just see the beauty?”
“All three” I laughed.
“Ah” he grinned. “You must be tired. We are walking from almost an hour now”
“yeah, maybe a little”
“Let’s go back then”
I nodded and went back to the hotel. His hands were warm. They felt more good than bad. I know I shouldn’t be with a new man because I am married but… it isn’t like I am gonna love him or something. Even he knows I am married. He seemed to be a nice guy and I guess… maybe… having someone close would be good.
