Chapter 8 LOVE LOST
Vivienne could not stop thinking about the wedding and how Ethan, the man she has had, wrapped around her fingers for years was finally married to someone else. She also could not stand the fact his so called bride was fiesty and was not in anyway intimidated by her presence or the past she had with Ethan.
She was losing her mind and the only way to get quick answers was to go through Sophie, Ethan's little sister.
She hated Sophie but found her very gullible and foolish. A silly girl, who she could easily get information from whether or not she wanted to spill. She knew that meeting Sophie would help her learn things about Ethan's marriage.
"Jesus Vivienne, what the hell! how did you know I'll be here?" Sophie asked as Vivienne suddenly sits in front of her in the restaurant, coming in from nowhere like a ghost
"Oh common Sophie, everyone knows how much you love to eat here, it's your most favorite place in the whole of Melbourne." vivienne replied, placing her bag on the table and crossing her legs.
"Well that's because I own most of the shares here, so basically it's safe to say that this space, belongs to me" Sophie said smiling, as she looked round the restaurant with pride.
"Interesting" Vivienne replied again, fake smiling in disgust and rolling her eyes.
"To what do I owe this very unpleasant visit vivienne, why are you here? cause I don't remember us being close enough to eat lunch together" Sophie said, hitting the nail on the head immediately.
Sophie also was not a fan of Vivienne and has hated her since her fall out with Ethan. She hated how much Vivienne made her brother suffer over the years, changing him completely into the very cold and emotionless person he was today.
"Hmm aren't you so smart Sophie" Vivienne said sarcastically as she smiled and adjusted in her seat.
"Fine, I'll get right to it. How well do you know that scum?" Vivienne started, spitting out insults, as soon as she opened her mouth.
"What scum are you talking about Vivienne, I mean aside from you that is?" Sophie asked, looking directly into Vivienne's eyes as she called her a scum.
"You're cute" Vivienne laughed, brushing aside Sophie's attempt for an insult before going back to what she was saying.
"I'm talking about your brother's bride, or should I say play thing because I know Ethan very well and she's not his type."
"None of you seemed to know anything about her at the wedding, doesn't it bother you?" She continued, leaning in close to hear what Sophie had to say.
Of everything else, she had greatly expected that Sophie would agree with her on this and also question the fact that her brother married a complete stranger.
"Well that's nothing new with Ethan you see, he loves his privacy more than anything else and we as a family respect that. Besides, if he of all people says that she is the one, who am I to dispute it" Sophie replied, bursting Vivienne's bubble almost immediately.
"So your parents didn't ask questions about her background or family? I mean asides the fact that her dad used to own a now run down gallery before he died, making it the only thing she inherited." Vivienne asked again with disappointment obvious in her voice.
"I even heard that the building was in a lot of debt and was about to be taken from her right before the wedding, doesn't that sound suspicious to you?" She kept asking, feeling disappointed each time, as Sophie showed no interest like she had predicted.
"Vivienne what exactly is your point? You left Ethan, you made him suffer, do you even remember that?" Sophie asked, unbothered by what she had been saying
"That's not what we are talking about here" Vivienne tried to defend
"Then what is? Because you can't come back here saying nonsense to me, after so many years of toiling with his emotions. You were the only woman he ever introduced to us, you were like family but you hurt him in the worst way by doing what you did those years ago, and now you come back to show care for his new bride?" Sophie was pissed, flabbergasted at the audacity Vivienne had to sit in front of her.
"I might not know much about her but she is a very beautiful and kind woman, and I am so glad that she is a part of the family now" she added, making sure to hurt Vivienne with those words.
Of course she cared about knowing the history of her brother's wife and where she came from, but she was not about to say all that to Vivienne who obviously had come for that reason.
"You are such a killjoy Sophie, how can you be so stupid and dumb, and let a gold digger walk into your family so easily, can't you see how shady this whole wedding looks?" She asked again, showing just how selfish she was.
"Sure, but that gold digger is the one in Rome with Ethan right now for their honeymoon and not you" Sophie replied smiling as she said that. She knew how much Vivienne would freak with that information.
"What? He took her where?" Vivienne asked, she was so pissed she could hardly control the look on her face
"Oops my bad, now if you have nothing else to say, please leave my table before the food gets here, I can't possibly swallow in peace with you around" Sophie said again, winning the game so easily, she felt good about herself.
To think that she used to like and adore Vivienne a lot but ended up being used.
"Ugh, have a wonderful meal Sophie, and I hope Ethan doesn't find out that you are screwing his lawyer who also happens to be his best friend." Vivienne said, throwing one final blow and topping the chart as she got up, picked her bag, and walked out the restaurant in anger
"What the hell?" Sophie was shocked to hear Vivienne say that no one else knew that she had secretly been dating Hugo, not even Ethan.
Vivienne made her way back to her car filled with rage from what Sophie had just told her, that she let out a loud scream inside after getting inside, pressing her horn and causing so much noise
"So you really have moved on from me Ethan? Is that what you think? You are mine, whether I want you or not, mine and mine alone."
"All I have to do is bury that bitch and then You'll come back to me." She said, with her hair covering her face from all the commotion. She reached for the bottle of whiskey at the back seat of her car and poured a large sum into her mouth, before driving off.
