Chapter 18 AREN'T YOU SHAMELESS
DASHIELL
There was this gnawing emotion within me, one I couldn't understand. Spending time with Lilith always calmed me down, but not anymore. It felt like there was something else, something I needed but couldn't have.
The feeling was foreign, something I'd never experienced before, which was why I decided to take a walk, to ease my mind of the insistent concerns raging havoc in my mind. Staying with Lilith at the moment didn't sound like the best solution. I needed some time alone, to clear my mind.
As I strode down the busy streets, my thoughts returned to Nova and what transpired between us yesterday. I was still mad at her for everything that had happened. However, there was this sad feeling each time I thought of how she held hands with Brion. With the sad feeling came an anger so fierce it startled me each time.
I had never been consumed by such an intense rage before, one that made me want to storm over to them and rip her off his arms. I wanted to dominate her, to possess her, and make her know she was mine. The feeling was all too consuming, like a raging fire, threatening to suck me into a world of pain, suffering and anguish.
I couldn't pinpoint when it started. The feeling seemed to have crept up to me like a thief, draining my thoughts until I couldn't think of anything else.
Something caught my eye the moment I crossed the road to the other side. There was no way I could ever mistake those lustrous strands. Lilith sure has blonde hair, but hers was never like Nova's. Nova's hair was more golden and lustrous, soft to run my fingers through or clench my fist around while fucking her.
Mova was speaking to two little blonde kids when I saw her. From the distance, I couldn't make the kids' faces out, something I wasn't concerned about since my entire focus was on Nova.
"Nova "I called out to her when I not to her side watching ac cho whirled around Different amotions want through har nazo ac cho turned hack to the kids She murmured words to them and they
Her stance showed just how pissed she was to see me. "What do you want?" Her tone was bitter, flat, and hostile. She narrowed her eyes at me, waiting for my response.
"An explanation," I stated, closing the distance between us. "I need a bloody answer, Nova!" I snapped, my temper getting the best of me. "First, you ran away from home with a man five years ago, and you returned with another one claiming he's your lover? Are you that desperate???"
I couldn't tell where the anger came from. Seeing her with Brion infuriated me more than her escape five years ago.
"Desperate?" She took a step towards her, her tone getting darker with each step she drew. "What is your definition of desperate, Dashiell?"
I sneered, folding my arms to mirror her stance. I wasn't concerned about how we looked. With my tousled hair and rumpled cloth, and her well-dressed self. At that moment, I wanted her to feel what I felt when I heard she was with Brion.
"Wasn't that the reason you got together with me?" I smirked, loving the way her eyes narrowed at my remarks. I could tell I was getting to her. "I bet sleeping with me wasn't an incident like I thought it was. You mostly planned everything."
"And if I did?"
"Then..." I gulped, thinking of the right response. I wanted her to fly into a rage at my words, not question me with that fearless I could care not expression on her face. I wished to make her feel how heartbroken I was when she left me last night, not for her to turn the tables on me. "Aren't you shameless?"
"Shameless?" She cocked her head to the side. "Who among us should be shameless, Dashiell?"
"You of course. Spreading your legs for another man isn't that difficult for you as long as he has enough money for your -"
The sound of her palm colliding with my cheeks almost deafened me. It stunned me more than the words she spewed out in anger. Gaping in shock, I raised my palm to my cheek, feeling the sting of the slap.
"Bastard!" she spat out. Her eyes were clouded with barely restrained fury as she stared hard at me. "Don't ever show up in front of me ever again!" Fuming with rage, she turned and entered the school, while I watched her, with my palm placed on my cheeks.
Seeing her storm out in anger further made me resolve my plans to get back at her. Nova might not know this, but I always loved the thrill of a chase.
