Chapter 16 I CAN HELP YOU HIDE HIS BODY

Chapter 16 I CAN HELP YOU HIDE HIS BODY
NOVA

"Bloody bastard!" I gritted out, fuming with rage. Stomping over to my car, I kicked the tyre a good number of times before BRION rushed over to stop me.

"You need to calm down," he whispered, his tone soothing as he patted my hair. "He's not worth it."

"I know he's not! I just wish to strangle him alive!" I growled, imagining how pleased I would be, the thrill that would envelop me as I watched him struggle for breath under me. Furthermore, I wouldn't kill him easily. That would be too merciful for him. Letting him feel the pain I went through, five years ago was my plan for him.

"Don't worry, you will have enough time to do that," Brion said, coaxingly. He had always been like this, constantly having my back through every breakdown.

With teary eyes, I turned and hugged him tight, not letting go. Brion was my light. The little ray I found at the end of the tunnel. Without him, I doubt I would have made it out alive that year. Lilith would have caught up with me. And had she done that, it would have been disastrous.

I wouldn't have survived it. Even if I did, I wouldn't have lived for more than a few weeks. Grief would have aided my transport to the Neverland.

"It's okay." He patted my hair. "You don't have to cry for that bastard. He doesn't freaking deserve it."

Sniffing, I peered up at my best friend, smiling at his upturned mouth.

"Thank you." I detangled from the hug and stepped back. "You are right. He's not worth shedding a tear for." I wiped my eyes. "Let's go. Those little devils would be waiting," I said, referring to my babies, whom we left at home because I couldn't bring them with me.

"Yeah." Ruffling my hair, Brion reached forward to open the door for me, gesturing for me to step with a mock bow. "After you, Milady."

"Thanks, Mr Brion. My feet ache from twirling in the ballroom all night," I joked, my voice shrill, mimicking the ladies in historical dramas. I fanned my face with my palm as I got in. Chuckling, he closed the door behind me and hastened over to the driver's seat. "Do you wish to go anywhere before returning home?" He asked, starting the car, just as I put on my seatbelt. "Nah. Let's go home."

Brion filled the car with his lovely voice as he told jokes to take my mind off that damned bastard Dashiell, something I was grateful for. He made the ride a fun one.

"How are you feeling now?" He asked, killing the engine. "Still feel you want to strangle someone?" He joked, chuckling when I sent a dark glare at him. "Come on, it's a harmless question, Nova."

"I still feel like strangling him," I confessed. Even though Brion lessened my anger with his jokes, it wasn't enough to erase the encounter with Dashiell. Just thinking of that lousy bastard made me wish to storm towards his house - if he still lives there to give him a piece of my damned mind.

"What will I do to drive you back there so you can make good with your plans? I know a thing or two about hiding bodies," he added with a wink.

"I know you do." Sighing, I removed the seatbelt. "Thank you so much for cheering me up, Brion. You are a darling."

"I know I am." Chuckling, he got out of the car, just as I did the same, inhaling the fragrant air around my home.

Because of the short time we intended to spend in Paris, we rented a small house on the outskirts of the city. I wanted nothing extravagant, and BRION was quick to fulfil my wishes by seeking a house far from the bustling city.

The house's white walls were adorned with elegant shutters and decorative trim, which was one of the many things that made me choose it out of all the pictures Brion sent to me. A classic picket fence painted a soft peach, enclosed the property, adding a feel of home to it.

A lush garden flourished in the front yard, with vibrant flowers, shrubs, and trees carefully tended to create a colourful tapestry. A sturdy oak swing - a bonus to the building -hangs from a strong branch of a tree. When I first saw the swing, the thoughts that came to mind were a lazy afternoon out here, swinging as my babies played in the garden. Brion would be the one pushing the swing while giving me a rundown of how his day went. The picture was vivid. A perfect one.

I inhaled the sweet air as I walked towards the front door, admiring the garden left behind by the former occupants. It was a vibrant oasis, with a mix of annuals and perennials, herbs, and vegetables. A meandering stone path winds through the garden, leading to the backyard, a place where Brion intends to set up a little playground for the kids when he has time.

Walking up the short flight of stairs that led to the front door, reminded me once more of how lucky I was to have Brion by my side. He has been a constant help to me. A friend I wouldn't trade for anyone.

"Why aren't you going in?"

Startled at the sound of his voice, I turned with a smile, my gaze locking with his green eyes, which always had a hint of mischief in them.

"I was just thinking of life." Shrugging, I opened the door and was almost pushed to the ground by my overexcited little darlings.

"Mum!" River and Willow yelled out hugging me tight like we had been separated for years when it had only been 2 hours.

"How are my darlings?" Grinning, I rubbed their hair.

"Not fine." Pouting, Willow looked up, her face in a frown. Her eyes, a striking emerald green, stared up at me, showing her displeasure. "Why didn't you take us with you? Uncle BRION said it would be fun!" She pouted.

"Fun?" Chuckling, I reached down to pat her hair, which was just like mine, a warm, golden hue that fell in soft, loose waves down her back.
