Chapter 100 Another plot
LILITH
I stormed into the dimly lit room, my eyes blazing with fury. The two men I hired to eliminate Nova cowered before me. They knew I was pissed at them. "You failed me," I spat, my voice venomous. "Twice."
Jake, a blonde burly man with an ugly scar across his face, shifted uncomfortably. "We did what you ordered, ma'am. We tampered with her car."
"But she survived," I snarled, my fingers drumming against the table. "How can you claim to do what I asked when you left a piece of evidence to make her suspect?! You were careless!" Max, the second man, spoke up. "And the second time, we tried to run her off the road."
I glared at them. "But she's still alive!" I repeated. "You are just a failure! Investing in you is nothing, but a damned mistake! Why did I even listen to Andrea when she suggested hiring you?"
I paced around the room, my heels clicking on the floor. I'd waited extremely long for him. Too long. And she'd been in the way for far too long. I needed to get Nova out of the picture, so Dashiell would be mine. As long as she was still alive, Dashiell would never look at me!
I stopped pacing and faced them. "You understand what's at stake here? I want him." My voice dripped with desperation. "I'll do whatever it takes to eliminate her."
Dashiell is mine and has always been. I will never let a bitch like Nova take her from me, not when I have what it takes to get her out of the damned picture she didn't even fit in but had to wiggle her way through.
Jake and Max exchanged uneasy glances.
"We understand, ma'am," Jake said.
But I knew they didn't. They couldn't comprehend the depth of my obsession.
The third time, I'd instructed them to shoot her. And finally, they'd succeeded, only for it to come crashing down. Dashiell was now taking care of her.
"She's in the hospital... critical condition," Max reported.
I gazed at them, my eyes cold. "If she survives... if she recovers... you're both dead men."
The air in the room seemed to chill as they watched me.
"Do whatever you can to make sure she doesn't leave the hospital alive," I added, in case they didn't understand what I meant with my first words.
"But..." Jake sighed, looking at Max who lifted his shoulders in a shrug, letting him know he could say what he wanted. "We don't even know where she is. How can -"
"I know," Max interrupted before Jake could complete his words.
"You do?" I beat Jake to the question, my heart thumping.
"I do. I have a friend working in the hospital, so they told me about it. Don't worry, mistress, we will take care of this. We won't let anything go wrong," he promised, bowing as Jake joined him to do so. "You better do it!"
As I left the room, I felt a fleeting sense of satisfaction. But it wouldn't last. The darkness within me would continue to drive me until I had him-no matter the cost.
I walked towards my car, and got in, waiting for Max and Jake to leave, and they did. They made an okay sign to me before they entered their truck and zoomed off for the hospital.
"Nova, it's time for you to meet your Lord." I drove my car out, heading for the house. I had my music blasting to the highest volume as I zoomed home. Luckily enough, I didn't encounter any traffic police, so I didn't get a ticket.
The moment I stepped in, I got a text from Max, asking me to get Dashiell out of the hospital so they could complete their mission, which I eagerly did.
I dialled his number, my heart racing with anticipation. When he answered, I could hear the tension in his voice.
"Hey, I'm busy right now," he said. "I'm taking care of my wife. She's not doing well."
I pouted, working to sound disappointed. "Oh, okay. I was really hoping to talk to you. I've been having a weird night."
There was a pause on the other end of the line. "What's wrong?"
I hesitated, trying to sound hesitant. "I don't know if I should bother you with it. You're clearly busy."
"Tell me," he said, his voice a little softer.
I took a deep breath, launching into my lie. "I think someone's attempting to break into my house. I've been hearing strange noises all night, and I just saw someone lurking outside my window." There was a pause on the other end of the line, and I could sense his concern.
"What? Where are you?" he asked, his voice firm.
"I'm at home," I replied, trying to sound as vulnerable as possible. "I'm alone, and I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm being stalked or something. I believe he's out there, watching and waiting for me to open my door. I'm even scared to call the police," I added, sniffing.
"I'll come over," he stated immediately.
I tried to sound hesitant like I didn't want to trouble him. "No, no, it's okay. I don't want to bother you. You have enough on your plate with your wife."
"It's not a bother," he answered. "I'll be right there. Nova will understand."
I smiled to myself, knowing I had him right where I wanted him. "Okay, if you're sure... I would really appreciate it."
"I'm positive," he said. "Just stay inside and lock all the doors and windows. I'll be there as soon as I can."
I giggled to myself, a sly smile spreading across my face. "I will. Thank you so much. You're always there for me, aren't you?"
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and for a moment, I worried that I'd gone too far. But then he spoke up.
"I'll always be there for you. You know that."
I felt a thrill of excitement at his words. He was still in love with me, I could tell. And soon, he'd be mine again.
"Thank you," I whispered, trying to sound grateful. "I'll see you soon."
I ended the call, my heart racing with anticipation. I could feel the coming of my victory. It's in the palm of my hand.
