3: Who are you?

Aurelia.

I woke up to a splitting headache, I groaned and fluttered my eyes to the bright light.

I glanced around cautiously, I was in a big luxurious bed with a wardrobe and chandelier. The windows were shut, and the room was painted white, it wasn’t anywhere familiar.

Where was I?

Did I get caught?

I gasped and lifted myself from the bed, whining slightly at the discomfort I felt.

“You’re awake?” I heard a tiny voice, there was an older woman in a uniform by the door. “I will inform the master immediately.” She hurried out, slamming the door behind her.

The master?

I felt a cold shiver run down my spine.

I have been captured, I have failed the mission.

The door opened slowly, I heard causal steps, I darted my eyes to the door, waiting for the worst nightmare.

I had to be alert in case he tried to do anything to me, and I had to attack him first before he could think of doing anything to me, and then I would escape.

I had it all planned out in my head.

A man came in, dark-haired in a well-tailored black suit, his green eyes darkened at me. He was about six feet five and leaned at the waist.

He looked strikingly handsome with his chiseled jawline, his face was smooth like he had just shaved, and then his lips quirked.

I batted my lashes, I shouldn’t let his looks deceive me, he was sent by Davis.

I sprang to my feet and threw my fist at him when he got closer. I noticed my hand didn’t go close to him, so I turned to bed to find out the reason for it.

My arms were chained to the bed, I blinked and tried to move them but it was stuck.

He chuckled amusingly.

“Why am I chained? Let me go!” I shouted.

“I was going to...” His voice was fruity, deep, and strong. I eyed him suspiciously, and stared at my body. My dress from last night was changed, and I was in pajamas.

“Who sent you? What did you do to me?” I rushed my words while standing defensively.

He smirked. “One question at a time.”

I huffed.

“Why am I chained?” I raised my voice. He was Davis’s man, that was why he chained me. Why did he bring me here? He was determined to kill me last night.

“You kept trying to attack my doctor in your sleep, I had to tie you down so you won’t hurt yourself at night when nobody is there, and is this how you say thank you for saving me ass?” He stepped closer and stuffed his hands into his pocket. I took a step back.

“You were gonna attack me.” He stated.

“You saved me?” I lowered the tone of my voice.

A teasing grin spread on his face. “You were in my truck.”

He wasn’t sent by Davis.

I dropped my hands to my side, he was the one who saved me.

I remembered that I fell last night, and hit my head against something. I must’ve gotten into his car.

He took another step closer to me, and I fell back on the bed. I could feel his eyes on my face.

I swallowed hard.

I had looked away because I was too embarrassed to stare at him, and not under that intense gaze.

“How did you get into my truck? Was it your plan?”

I furrowed my brows and glared at him.

“Did you know who I am?”

I scoffed and stared daggers at him.

Who the fuck was this asshole?

“I have been thinking, I was gonna send you out of my house but I wanted to know how you got into my car.”

I struggled to free the chains from my wrist and chose to ignore him. His eyes went to the chain when he saw me wrestling with them.

He snapped his fingers, and the chains fell off my wrist.

“Does that make you feel comfortable?” He took the chains away and dropped them on the table beside the bed.

“You’re still recovering, I don’t want to make you feel like a prisoner but you’ve to give answers to my question—“

I launched at him before he could complete his words, I kicked and threw my fist to his face, but he blocked my moves as if he could predict them.

“Why are you attacking me? You’re being ungrateful.” He smirked.

“You shouldn’t be this way to someone who saved you.”

I wasn’t gonna believe that, he was probably with Davis. I didn’t stop fighting him, though he was blocking all my attempts to punch him. I wanted to get the smirk off his face but he was so skillful, and made me feel powerless in front of him.

“I think we should end this fight. Kitten.”

Kitten?

I was pissed with the name and continued trying to knock him but it wasn’t working.

He struck my wounded arm, and I whined and misplaced my foot. I was gonna fall but he caught me easily with his hand wrapped around my waist.

I gasped at him, how was he able to know all my moves, not even my goons do. I was trained by my father, and it was weird that some stranger was able to predict all my movements, and I couldn’t lay a finger on him while he got me in his arms.

His strong hand tightened around my waist and pulled me closer to his body, I could feel the warmth from his body, and he smelled of mint.

He lowered his head, and I suddenly went blank and the sound of my heart thumping against my chest. His face was inches away from me.

His lips brushed my cheek in the merest touch. “Don’t fall for me, kitten.” A smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

I felt cool shivers run down my spine, those lips touched me.

He dropped me on the bed whilst holding my gaze, and he took the chain and chained my left leg.

I snapped out of my trance. This was unlike me, I got distracted by a man yet I couldn’t explain why I felt this way towards him.

He smiled, placing a hand on the bed above me. “Who are you?” He looked at me as if I was prey that was about to be devoured by that dark gaze.

“Let me go!” I shouted.

“Not until you have told me the truth.” His voice came out quietly. My mission was a secret that I couldn’t tell.

“Tell me, what’s your name?” He asked.

He must’ve figured out I wasn’t gonna tell him anything if he asked about my identity.

I clamped my lips shut and didn’t say a word.

“Proving stubborn...” His upper lip quirked, and he lifted my chin with a finger. “...kitten?”

“How did you get on my truck? How did you get wounded, and lastly who—“

“Sir!” A knock came on the door, interrupting him. He backed away from me with a scowl on his face.

“What?” he snapped.

The woman from earlier came into the room with her hand folded in front of her, and her head tilted downward.

“Someone is here to see you, Sir.” Her voice was trembling.

“I don’t want to see anyone.” He drawled while staring at me, I averted my gaze.

“He won’t leave.” She insisted.

His jaw clenched tightly, and he spun around to face her, her body shuddered and she took two steps backward.

“Make him leave!”

“He said he won’t leave until he sees you.” She tried to stop her voice from shaking.

“He won’t leave, Sir.” Her brittle voice came up again. He glanced at me before he turned the other way, and headed out of the room.

The woman scurried out of the room, shutting the door behind her, I let out a deep breath I hadn’t known I had been holding.

There was something about the dominating aura he held.

Who was this man? And why did he save me? What does he want? I couldn’t let him find out about me, I needed to leave this place before he found out about my identity.
