Ch.110
Author's POV

At the clinic, Timothy was still waiting for the result of the exam he had done. Even though the doctor hadn't seen anything serious, being who he was, he preferred to be cautious and have the test done even though they weren't really necessary. When the doctor came to give him the test results, they were surprised to see Travis arrive in a hurry with Ayanna in his arms.

The doctor immediately requested a mark and shouted for the operating room to be prepared, pushing the stretcher towards the surgical center. The detective followed, explaining the situation and what had happened, as well as Ayanna's pulse during the journey. along with some other useful information for the doctor.

When they reached a certain point, the doctor did not allow them to continue. While the nurses continued pushing the stretcher, the doctor tried to reassure Travis, " Sir, you cannot go any further but I promise to do everything in my power and the possible to save her."

" No, I don't want the possible, I want the impossible."

After saying this, the doctor ran towards the room. Travis returned to the reception area covered in blood. When he saw Timothy, he simply hugged him and couldn't hold back his tears.

Sometimes Travis felt like giving up , he couldn't imagine what he would do if something were to happen to Ayanna, what would he tell Irene. Regardless of who he was or what position he held, he was human, he had emotions, feelings. Fear gripped him at that moment. He was afraid of losing Timothy and now afraid of losing Ayanna, the love of his life and mother of his daughter.

After a long wait, The doctor finally appeared, still wearing the clothes he had used in the operating room. Everyone who was waiting stood up and gathered around him.

" So, how is she? For the love of God ,say something please." Travis was becoming impatient.

" The surgery was a bit complicated due to where the bullet was lodged. Mrs Ayanna had two cardiac arrests on the table, but we managed to remove the bullet , and she is out of danger. She will stay in the ICU ( Intensive care unit) for at least 24 hours, just as a precaution. After the set period, she will be transferred to a regular room and she can receive visitors.

After the doctor's words, it felt like a ton of weight had been lifed off their shoulders. They were now happy and smiled knowing that Ayanna was out of danger.

The room was quiet and only the sound of an alarm from the machine Ayanna was connected to could be heard. Travis ended up falling asleep on the couch in the VIP ward Ayanna was placed in.

On the same day of the surgery, Travis entered the ICU to see Ayanna. The doctor knew it was better to allow him entrance, as he wouldn't be able to wait until Ayanna was moved to a regular room.

24 hours had already passed, and Ayanna had been transferred to a regular room, but the doctor decided to keep her sedated for a little longer.

When the sedative wore off, Ayanna woke up and felt discomfort in her stomach. it reminded her of everything that had happened. She started looking around to figure out where she was, until her eyes landed on Travis, who was sleeping with his head resting on the back of the sofa.

Ayanna looked at him and smiled. She imagined that with Travis stubbornness, he probably hadn't even gone home. Ayanna's thoughts were correct-Travis refused to leave her side until she woke up and saw that she was truly okay. He ended up showering in bathroom of Ayanna's ward and meals in the clinic's cafeteria.

Ayanna chose not to call out to him. Since she had just woken up, she didn't know how much time had passed or how tired Travis might be. As Ayanna continued to gaze at him, lost in her own thoughts. Travis had already woken up.

When Travis saw Ayanna awake, he quickly got up and went to the bedside. He held one of Ayanna's hands and ran his other hand over Ayanna's face. asking if she was okay. " Are you okay? Do you need anything ? Are you in pain? Do you want me to call a doctor?" Ayanna started to smile at Travis desperation, and when she tried to smile for real, she felt pain.

" Don't worry, Travis I'm fine , I don't need anything except your company and tell how's my daughter?"

He smiled before answering me" Irene is fine I left her at your mother's because I needed to be close to you."

Ayanna remained in the hospital for a few more days. Travis thought it best for her to return only when she was fully recovered, despite Ayanna insisting that she was fine and felt no discomfort.

Travis wanted to take precautions. Since Ayanna was recovering well, Travis started going out briefly on some occasions. During these outings, Allison insisted on staying with Ayanna and taking care of her.

A few days after being discharged from the hospital, Ayanna returned home. Now that Henry was dead, she and Travis had been through so much together and had survived every problem that came their way.

One evening, Ayanna spoke to Travis about holding a funeral for Henry. "Allison told me she's going to claim his body as his sister and hold a funeral for him. I think we should go," she said.

Travis didn't see anything wrong with the idea and agreed. He also informed his mother about everything that had happened. She felt ashamed of herself and apologized for all she had done.

The funeral was organized, and every member of the Sinclair family was present, along with Allison. Everyone came to say their final goodbyes and apologize formally.

The service was quiet, and people took turns stepping forward to pay their respects. Allison stood beside the casket, looking at Henry one last time before speaking.

"Henry made many mistakes, but he was like a brother to me. He saved me when I had nowhere to go, and even though he made wrong choices, I know he also had his reasons. I just hope he finally finds peace," she said, placing a white rose on his casket.

Travis's mother stepped forward, tears in her eyes. She looked at the casket and spoke in a trembling voice. "Henry, I failed you. I let my fears control me and made decisions I regret. I hope, wherever you are, you can forgive me. I am truly sorry."

As the casket was lowered into the ground, Ayanna watched Travis. She reached for his hand and gave it a small squeeze. He squeezed back, and in that moment, she knew they were finally moving forward.
