Chapter 74 Wicked Liar
Two days later,
They had taken a trip to the town where her father and mother had grown up.
Ana and her sister have never been here before, it is a first time experience for them.
They walked around the town and greeted relatives who accompanied them to do a mini burial for her father.
Incense was light and everyone paid their respect before the family of 5 went to the river side. The river her parents had met.
Her parents had told the story of how they had met. Which was during a storm. Her father had saved her mother from drowning and the rest was history.
Ana looked around the river and smiled sadly. She wished they had come here as kids or as young adults, that way they would have shared a bit of memory of the place with her parents before her father had died unfortunately.
Ana held her daughter closely as they watched her mother who went closer to the river to say her last goodbyes to their father before pouring his ashes on the river.
Tears rolled down her eyes.
Nala wept.
And her higher mother wept bitterly. After some time, she poured the ashes sending him off after 6 years of his death
“I hope you are in heaven and are happy” Griselda said as she wept.
Ana could not hold her tears so she wept too. The pain she felt was too much.
After staying there for ten more minutes they left and returned to meet other relatives. After spending time with them, they had returned back to the city that evening.
They got into the house and met Emiliano waiting for them. It was past 10pm and Thea had slept off.
After putting her to bed, Ana joined the others down stairs.
“I’m sorry I was not able to make it, I had lots of meetings I could not live and I had shareholders meeting with my grandfather" Emiliano apologized to them
“It’s okay Emiliano we understand, you could not have been there and it’s also family related” Griselda said to him.
“He is a family mom,” Ana said to her mother.
Griselda looked at her, she looked visibly annoyed.
“It’s okay, I know what she meant,” Emiliano said. Yes he was taken as family but he was not blood related.
Griselda stood up to leave but Ana called her back.
“Mother, can we talk in private”
Griselda turned and looked at her in anger “Talk about what?”
“It’s six years now, and you are still angry at me and have said nothing to me. The only thing you have said to me is what you just said now” Ana said sadly.
“You think you deserve to be spoken to by me!! After all your lies and deceit!! The audacity you have Ana!! If you were truthful from the onset your father wouldn't have died, I wouldn’t have had to go throw his ashes in that river because he would have still been with us!! So shut your mouth and do not demand for me not to be angry with you, you deserve every anger and pain and resentment I show to you!!” Griselda said in anger.
That was the longest her mother had spoken in the last 6 years. She hasn’t said this much since their fathers death.
Ana opened her mouth to speak but no words came out, only tears rolled down her eyes.
“You are such a disgrace!!” Griselda added
Ana’s tears fell as she looked at her mother “A disgrace? You can call me anything else, but a disgrace?” Ana was shocked because she knew what she meant by being a disgrace.
“Yes, you are disgraceful, imagine getting pregnant for a man who has a fiancee out of wedlock!!”
“Mother stop!! Nala shouted at her mother.
“Stop what!! Isn’t it the truth? And I’m sure Thea has yet to know who her father is!! You must also be lying to her because you are such a wicked liar!!” Griselda said with so much pain and resentment.
Ana was shocked to her bones.
“Mother stop it!!” Nala stood up in anger.
“Thea's room is just above. What if she wakes up and hears all you just said, are you indirectly calling your granddaughter a bastered!!” Nala fired back at her mother.
She knows her mother is in pain especially now that she just sent off her husband but she saying such awful things is unacceptable.
“It’s okay, you should go have some rest, mother, it’s already late” Emiliano said to Mrs Griselda to calm the situation before she says something else.
Griselda gave Nala a bad look before walking away.
Emiliano went to Ana and hugged her “It’s okay Ana, I’m sure she did not mean all she just said” Emiliano comforted her.
Ana cried her eyes out “I can’t believe she said all that to me”
“I’m sorry” Emiliano said to her
"You should have waited for some days to pass before bringing up the issue with her,” he added.
Ana nodded “You are right, I was in so much in a hurry.
