Chapter 35 “Did You Forget Your Job?”
The moment Ana heard Fernando Buenavista, she got down from the bed “Did you just say Fernando Buenavista?”
“I said he looks like him,” Nala said, not sure.
“If you say he looks like him then it is him” Ana said as her heartbeat fast.
Nala’s eyes widened “It’s him!!? No no no, what will he be doing at our house?” Nala doubted what her sister said.
Ana wore her slippers and left the room to go check herself.
Nala followed her sister behind.
She got to the entrance door and before she opened it she breathed in and out. She pushed the door open and yes, right in front of her door was Fernando staring at her.
Fernando looked at her from head to toe, she was putting on her nighties that looked decent.
Ana swallowed and she was finally facing him after what happened between them. Her heart drummed in her chest.
“Why did you not come home last night, did you not see my calls? Did you forget your job?” Fernando asked.
Nala looked at her sister and the man who she finally confirmed was Fernando Buenavista. The most famous billionaire in the country. What kind of relationship does her sister have with this man? What home was he referring to? What job? Nala tried to add the dots together.
“Ana what is he talking about”
“Go inside Nala, I will be back, I need to speak to him”
Nala nodded reluctantly and went inside after looking at Mr Buenavista one more time.
Their parents had already gone to the shop, she had stayed behind because Ana was still sleeping and her parents had asked her not to wake her since she was stressed. But when the man came and asked for her she had no choice but to wake her up.
Ana closed the door behind her “Let’s go to your car”
Fernando nodded and they went to his car to talk.
His chauffeur stood outside while they both stayed inside the car.
“You shouldn’t have come here” Ana said to him “Now how do you expect me to explain to my sister?”
“If you had come home last night or picked my calls to explain yourself. I won’t be here, so it’s all on you” he said.
“This is my home, your family house isn’t my home and I just want to tell you that I’m not doing this anymore. I can’t keep on pretending to be your wife. Stop sending the daily payments I will refund the one you sent yesterday”
Ana wanted to open the door but he held her back “Let go” she protested.
“No, you are done talking now it’s my turn to speak woman”
Ana stayed still to listen to him.
“I’m sorry about what happened” he apologized.
Ana bit her bottom lip hard till blood came out. She tried to keep calm
“But you can’t quit just yet and you know”
“I have quit already, you have to look for something to say to your mother”
“No, you can’t quit”
“We are done Mr Buenavista, I’m not changing my mind” Ana said
Fernando stared at her, he tried to touch her but she shifted close to the door.
Fernando ran a hand on his hair in frustration “Fine, but I can’t tell my mother the truth just yet. I will tell her you went overseers to see your parents that Silvia’s father is sick and she will be spending a month with them”
Ana did not care what he plans on telling his mother, what she knows is that she is not going back “Fine, if that’s what you want to tell her. As far as I am concerned my job is done”
Fernando clenched his fist, he did not know what got into him. He did not understand why he allowed his emotions to get this messy. He has a fiancee he wanted so much to wake up and at the same time he was yearning for another woman and because he couldn’t control himself he allowed what happened to happen. He could not blame the alcohol because he was only 40% drunk and 60% soba.
“Do me a favor by not coming here again or showing your face to me or my family, just let me be”.
Fernando nodded, after what happened he deserved it “Fine but I also want you to do me a favor. Stay away from Emiliano Rodrigo, there is something wrong about him, he is not being completely honest with you. Didn’t you ask yourself why he might have come into your life?”
Ana was not surprised that he had investigated Emiliano because he was good at doing that. But why he thought of doing so and why it was important to him is what she doesn’t understand. “He is a good friend, I have no doubts about him. And please do not involve yourself in anything that has to do with me anymore”
“And before I go, please ask your chauffeur to bring me my personal belongings in your family house” Ana said this before ironing the door and washing out.
She wiped her tears before stepping into the house.
Fernando looked towards the house and clenched his fist tight. He had made a big mistake, he had messed things up. He felt like punching into a wall right now.
Maybe it was best that he stayed away.
When Ana went back inside her sister asked how she got to know such a man and what he met by his statement.
Ana told her sister everything and Nala exclaimed.
“So you mean there was no lottery and you have been pretending to be his wife in exchange for the money?”
Ana nodded.
Nala walked around in shock and tried to process what she just heard. She stood and looked at her sister “Ana, you lied to us!!” Nala exclaimed.
Ana cooked up a good lie and deceived them. So the money for her surgery had come from it? Nala could not believe it.
“You can’t tell father and mother” Ana said.
Nala looked at her and sighed “As much as I’m angry that you lied and deceived us I understand you had no other choice. And also, his mother is dying so the money was in exchange for helping him out and you also got to pay for my hospital bill. But Ana I feel guilty that you had to do that just because of me and our family” Tears rolled down Nala’s eyes.
Ana stood up and hugged her sister “Stop crying, it was not something bad”
“No Ana, if we had the money for my surgery you wouldn’t have had to do that, pretending to be someone else and even changing your hair color. Now it’s all clear why you never come home” Nala wept.
Tears rolled down Ana’s eyes. If only she knew that her sister had also gone ahead to sleep with that same man.
After crying together. Nala had promised not to say anything after she informed her that she will no longer go there since their contract had ended.
In the past three days, Ana spent her time in her business place and also school. Little by little she tried to forget what had happened.
She just finished classes one evening when she received a call from Fernando but she did not pick it. She was going to keep to her word about not contacting him or speak to him.
He called several times but she did not pick up.
On her way home she received a call from Paula this time. Ana picked since it was Paula.
“Hey Paula, I’m sorry I have not contacted …..”
“Ana, it’s Mrs Buenavista, she had fainted and was rushed to the hospital please you have to come right now”
“Oh no , what happened to her?” Ana asked in worry and told the taxi driver to change direction to the Buenavista hospital.
“A lot has happened, please you have to come” Paula pleaded.
“I’m on my way already, I will be there in few minutes”
That must be the reason Fernando had called her.
Ana got to the Buenavista hospital and took the elevator to the floor she was told her room was.
The elevator door opened and she rushed out but stopped in her tracks when she saw Fernando and the man and woman he was talking to.
During her training she was shown pictures of Silvia's parents and these people were her parents.
If they were here, it only means one thing.
