CHAPTER 27
AVERI
THE CUSTOMERS were yelling and cheering for the two hot sisters in front of the stage. Since the sister took the stage, Aiden's Resto has been just like any other resto-bar. Their presence caused havoc in the otherwise peaceful setting. Even George was yelling. While yelling, his professionalism flew out the window, "That's my little ones! Woohoo! That's my daughters, you guys."
I smiled at his demeanor. He is very proud of his daughters. Of course, he should be. If the mere presence of the two causes the customers to become agitated, imagine how much worse it will be when they hear them sing. I'm sure all the boys will drool for them. I'm not exaggerating. I'm stating a fact.
The two were accustomed to the attention that the customers lavished on them. They were born to be stars.
Hana is dressed to the nines in a sleeveless loose tank top and short shorts, revealing her toned white legs. Her shoes were purple Vans with a high cut. She's already as beautiful as her sister at the age of sixteen.
Jazmin was dressed in a yellow sundress with doll shoes, and her long red hair was down in big perfect curls. She's smokin' hot.
I didn't realize I was biting my lower lip too hard while looking her over. The kiss at my office then comes back to me. I was feeling hot at the time.
Omg! She drives me insane. Grr!
When Jazmin finally spoke, I was able to return to my thoughts. She's holding an acoustic guitar. Hana was sitting on the beatbox.
"Ahem. Is this working? Yes, it is," she said this while testing the microphone and smiling. Some of the boys whistle. Some of the girls, including myself, burst out laughing. I'm sorry; I can't help myself. I used to be one of her biggest fans.
"Okay. So Mrs. Manager has asked us to sing for all of you sweethearts. By the way, my name is Jazmin, and this is Hana, whom I'm sure some of you know. She is the drummer for the seven goddesses. Uh-huh. Han, please shake my hand." Hana complied and smiled. Some of the adolescent boys yelled at her, "Idol!" Wow! Hana is pushing herself too hard in her career.
"Hey, Dad. We'll just jam for a while," she said, winking at us. George only gives a thumbs up. I was taken aback. Is it just my imagination that she winks at me? No, I'm not.
"Alright. This song was requested by my sister, so here we go..." Then Jazmin strums the guitar with a single stroke down, signaling that they will begin singing. The crowd fell silent.
One, two, three, four
Ooh, ooh
Every time you come around, you know I can't say no
Every time the sun goes down, I let you take control
I can feel the paradise before my world implodes
And tonight had something wonderful
They're singing Bad Habits by Ed Sheeran with just an acoustic guitar and beatbox. Jazmin in the first voice, Hana in the second voice. The crowd clapped at the intro. Wow! Jazmin's voice is more beautiful than before. I felt the hairs on my arm rising.
"Wooh! That's my baby, man! That's my kids!" George shouted. The crowd chuckled at him.
Jazmin sang the first verse. Hana's gloriously tapping her instrument.
When Hana was singing, she looked at Ashley, but the latter was busy flirting with his boy. The two didn't notice the green eyes piercing look. My gaydar is active.
Huh! Bad habits. I didn't know that the song affected me as much as I expected. Though Jazmin was not looking at me while singing, I felt her heart singing this for me.
The crowd became silent after the sister ended their song. We were still absorbing the sisters' soothing voices. Meanwhile, George threw his hand on my shoulder and rested there. I'm not mistaken when Jazmin's eyes squinting over us and avert immediately to no one in particular in the crowd. George didn't notice.
The sisters sang the song, just exchanging verses till it finished. Jazmin never looked in our direction after that glare.
The customers were clapping loudly. Some are standing while clapping. George stood up and clapped while I was clapping on my seat. The two could be a hot duo.
"One more!" someone shouted at our back.
"One more!" others requested also.
The two sisters that came off stage just stood there, not knowing what to do. Then Pearl came to Jazmin's side and whispered something. Jazmin let out a puff and grabbed Hana back at the stage. Hana's brows are scrunching, but she never said a thing to her older sis. She just gets back to the beatbox while Jazmin is on the guitar.
The crowd made a "whoosh," "yes," and more whistles when they returned to the stage. Some are visibly taking photos and videos of the two from their phones. Wow! Instant superstar. I can't help but smile. George was so glad that he kissed me on the cheeks that I never expected that he would do. I looked in Jazmin's direction as if I had done something wrong, but luckily she did not see it. And what's wrong if she sees that my fiance is kissing me? Nothing. Nothing!
"Just for you people. But one last song, okay?" Jazmin said in her signature smile. Why do I always know her? Pfft! I should stop this thinking.
The customers went into silent mode. Then a three-tap from Hana's beatbox, Jazmin started to sing one of her favorite songs for me. I think I'm going to cry at the moment.
When I was younger, I saw my daddy cry
And curse at the wind
He broke his own heart, and I watched
As he tried to reassemble it
And my momma swore
That she would never let herself forget
And that was the day that I promised
I'd never sing of love if it did not exist
Oh, God. I feel the memories crashing into my mind. On our beautiful days at the rooftop, she brought the guitar I bought for her. She composes songs of love, only for me. Just for me.
But darling, you are the only exception
You are the only exception…
How dare she? Why do I need to suffer again from the past? She left me. She has no right to do this to me.
Maybe I know, somewhere deep in my
soul
That love never lasts
And we've got to find other ways to make
it alone
Or keep a straight face
I felt a tear falling from my eye. Luckily, George was as shocked as everyone in the room. Jazmin sang the song of Paramore like the original one singing it.
"I've got a tight grip on reality
But I can't let go of what's in front of me here
I know you're leaving in the morning
when you wake up
Leave me with some kind of proof; it's not a dream, oh."
That was it. I can't take it anymore.
"Excuse me. I'll just use the washroom," I said to George without waiting for his reply. My tears run down my face as I walk in the direction of the comfort room.
