“How can you blame everything on Rhiannon even when she isn’t staying with us anymore? Don’t you have even the slightest shame?”
Mr Clark was so angry at his youngest daughter that he felt anything she said was rubbish and looking for excuses.
“Dad, how can you say that to me? Is Rhiannon your only daughter cause you have been siding with her every time? Or you are now at her side 'cause she owns the company?” Kaylee said as she cried causing Mr Clark so angry.
“You! You are so lucky that you are so far from me cause I would have beaten you up. Also, I appreciate the fact that you know that I have always sided with you. I always believed everything you said without giving Rhiannon a chance to defend herself or ask her what had happened but after what has happened today, I highly doubt whether everything you used to say was true or lies,” Mr Clark told her.
Kaylee panicked a little bit. She had indeed done a lot of bad things but claimed that Rhiannon was the culprit behind the latter’s back causing them to be punished by their father.
“Dad, how can you say that? I am a very honest person. Also, if you don’t believe that Rhiannon was also present you can call your business partner as I saw him there,” Kaylee said causing Mr Clark to stare at her seriously.
He sighed at how selfish and evil his daughter had become and didn’t know what to do.
“Enough. Although she was there, what did she do so that the card could be canceled? Do you think that I am a fool? That I don’t know what you are capable of and what Rhiannon is capable of?” Mr Clark asked coldly.
“Dad, how can you say that? How many times have Rhiannon caused damage to our family?” Kaylee asked as there was no way she was going to give up.
She knew that if she didn’t convince her father, she wouldn’t receive any allowance and might even get punished severely.
Mr Clark glanced at her and then chuckled.
“Yes, but didn’t you know clearly and better than anyone else whether she was really the cause or not?” Mr Clark asked shocking the latter.
Kaylee stared at her father and denied the fact that he knew what she had always done in the past.
No, how can it be? If he really knew then why didn’t he ever say anything?
Her mind was in chaos and different emotions flashed in her eyes.
Both of her parents were staring at her. Although Mrs Clark loved her daughter dearly, to her, her image was more important. She loved showing off and the fact that Kaylee had ruined what she was most proud of made her be in no mood to defend her.
Mr Clark saw the panic and disbelief in Kaylee’s eyes and understood everything. He didn’t know what to do to make Rhiannon forgive him as he knew that he had hurt the latter so dearly.
“Kaylee, you’ve disappointed me so much,” he said in a low tone.
Kaylee stared at her father and couldn’t even open her mouth to say anything as she was afraid of him. She had never seen him like that or even so supportive of Rhiannon.
“Dad, why do you care so much about Rhiannon all of a sudden?” She asked as she felt wronged.
She felt like Rhiannon had taken something precious to her.
“Cause I have seen your true colors. I always thought that you two were so close. When you complained or said Rhiannon did something, I always thought that you loved your sister so dearly and wanted me to teach her some discipline so that she could change and be a good, proper lady. But now..” he replied to her with a sigh.
“Kaylee, you are my daughter and I know that you hate Rhiannon as you feel as if she took the life that would have been yours. Hate her cause you carry the illegitimate title while she carries the legitimate. I always gave you more things than I gave her cause I didn’t want you to feel left out or that she has a lot of money than you and also cause I wanted to repay the years I missed with you when you were a child. Even whatever I did in the past was because I wanted you to have the life she has. I never expected that you would hate her so deeply. Thought you would become best sisters. Even Rhiannon always saw that before the fire,” he added when he saw that she had remained silent and lowered her head.
Kaylee didn’t lift her head and just listened to his words. At the same time, she felt like laughing at herself as she had always thought that their father always did everything, gave her everything she wanted, and trusted her fully cause she was so special in her heart.
She wondered whether she didn’t lose the subscription, she would ever know what their father thought.
“I wanted to give you the shares so that even if Rhiannon will have the majority shares, you will be the second largest. Thought that since you were close to her, she would help you get the vice president seat in the company as you are her sister and are the second largest shareholder. I didn’t have high expectations for you. I agreed to you being a manager as I felt that since Rhiannon will be the one shouldering everything, there is no need for you to start at the bottom like her but have you done anything right? Humiliated me everywhere. Now, everyone in the circle, no, the city knows that the Clark family has a younger daughter who loves causing trouble,” he said.
The more he spoke, the more he felt agitated.
Kaylee got tired of being compared with Rhiannon.
She had always been compared to the latter since they were kids and that’s why she hated Rhiannon. That’s why she wanted to take everything from Rhiannon. She wanted to have everything and be successful while Rhiannon had to beg her. She wanted Rhiannon to be compared with her one day.
Sadly, she had used the wrong way.
“There is no need to tell me more. I now understand that to you, I can never reach Rhiannon’s level. I cannot be like Rhiannon. Everything is just Rhiannon. Dad, one day, one day, you will regret the words you’ve uttered today. You will be proud of me and want everyone to know that I am your precious daughter. You will say that you wish that I am your eldest daughter and the legitimate,” she said with tears in her eyes before running upstairs.
Mr and Mrs Clark were shocked and looked at each other as they blamed each other through their eyes.
“Look at what you’ve done! Did you have to compare her with Rhiannon? Don’t you know how much Kaylee hates that?” Mrs Clark asked angrily.
“Spare me your lecture. Your work was to take care of the girls when I was at work. You should have made sure that Kaylee wasn’t jealous of what Rhiannon has or how she is. After all, they don’t share the same mother. Although Rhiannon lacks a mother, she has a lot of money and properties left behind by her mother. If only she had a good relationship with her, Rhiannon would have definitely shared some of them with her. Or even give her the company while she started another. You are the one who taught your daughter to be jealous of Kaylee. To add to that, you spoilt her rotten. If she wanted this, you always gave it to her. You gave her my card 'cause she requested for it, but now?” Mr Clark asked her causing the woman to shut up as she knew that what her husband had said made sense.
“What if it's true that Rhiannon was present?” Mrs Clark asked as she wanted to blame everything on Rhiannon and not her daughter.
Also, she knew that if everything was blamed on Rhiannon, the latter would do everything possible to get another. She thought of that forgetting that the Rhiannon she knew wasn’t the same as the current Rhiannon.
Mr Clark stared at his woman without replying to her but said afterward, “So what? Was Rhiannon going to use my card? I am so sure that the latter was going there to apply for a card because she is now the company’s president. I am sure it is Kaylee’s fault. She must have started drama in front of the guests making the boss angry.”
“What if the card was canceled because you are no longer the company’s president?” Mrs Clark said without having the intention of giving up.
“How can that be? Also, I received a call from the restaurant and they told me about today’s matter. How else do you think I found out about what happened there?” he asked angrily.
Mrs Clark remained silent as she knew that if she kept insisting, not only would Kaylee be in trouble but she also.
“You better not try finding fault with Rhiannon as I know what’s in your head. She isn’t someone you can provoke anymore,” Mr Clark said when he saw her look.
“How can I go look for her? Do you think that I have a lot of free time on my hands? Sorry, but you are mistaken,” the woman replied as she rolled her eyes.
“Go check on Kaylee. I will call Rhiannon to see whether she can help me get another card.”
