When Jason arrived at Natalie’s hospital, she had just left for her lunch break.
Judy followed him and asked in a concerned voice, “Sir, are you looking for someone?”
Jason looked at her, and seeing that she was not wearing any work uniform, he wondered if she worked there or if she was a patient.
Anyway, he would just have to ask, “Hey, miss, do you work here?”
“Yeah,” Judy nodded.
“Well, do you know where Nat… I mean, Dr. Hart is? She is not in her office, and I cannot reach her by phone.”
Judy pretended to think about it before she pointed towards the canteen, “Sir, it is lunch time, so I think Dr. Hart went to grab her lunch. Do you want me to call her for you?”
“No, it is fine. I will find her myself.”
“Okay, sir.”
Jason was about to leave when Judy stopped him, “Uhm, sir, sorry to ask this, but are you her patient, or are you two related?”
“It is none of your business,” Jason coldly said before he left.
Judy flipped the phone in her hand and smiled, “Go on, Mr. Thompson. I am going to make such a scene that you will be left baffled.”
Shortly after, Judy headed towards the canteen.
She stood at a distance and recorded everything that was going on.
In the hospital canteen…
After looking around for a while, Jason finally spotted Natalie. She was sitting alone in a corner, and her phone was pressed to her ear. She seemed to be in the middle of the call.
Jason walked over and tapped her on the shoulder from behind.
Natalie was stunned and looked up. When she saw Jason, her expression changed, and she hung up the phone.
“Honey, I need to deal with something. I will call you back.”
She looked at Jason, who had already sat opposite her, and asked, “What are you doing here? Don’t you know that this is my workplace?”
“Natalie,” Jason reached out and tried to take Natalie’s hand in his, but Natalie pulled back just in time.
“Don’t get so touchy, Mr. Thompson. My husband won’t like it.”
Jason smiled awkwardly and pulled his hand back. He apologized, “Sorry, Natalie, I think that I am just way too excited. I did not mean to offend you.”
“What are you doing here? If you have nothing to say, I will be leaving.”
Natalie said as she tried to stand up, but Jason stopped her.
“Natalie, I have something important to ask you, so please answer me as truthfully as you can.”
“What is it?”
“Is Jojo my daughter?” Jason asked. He was keenly looking at Natalie to see if there would be any change in her expression, but he was disappointed. Her face remained expressionless, and Jason could not tell anything.
Natalie was not really surprised by Jason’s question. It was maybe because she knew this day would eventually come, or she just did not care whether Jason found out the truth or not.
Natalie took a bite of her rare-medium steak and asked, “So, what if she is? So, what if she is not?”
“Natalie, if Jojo is my daughter, then I need to be a part of her life. I have been absent in her life since she was born, and I just want to make up for it.”
“Jojo already has a father, and she doesn’t need you.”
“Natalie, what are you saying? How could that man be enough for my daughter? You cannot do this.”
“Jason, did you hit your head or something? You are the one who was so desperate to divorce me back then. You loathed me to the extent that you couldn’t even share a room with me, so what are you trying to do now, huh?”
Before Jason could answer, Judy walked over and immediately began to reprimand Natalie, “Dr. Hart, how could you be so shameless? Going around and seducing married men?”
She made sure that her voice was loud enough to attract the people in the canteen.
Natalie looked at her and frowned. She had noticed that Judy did not really like her from day one, and she had tried to sabotage her more than once, but with Sean protecting her, she had never succeeded in her schemes. Looks like she wants to stir up trouble again.
Judy looked at Natalie and continued to berate her like a self-righteous deity, “I thought that you had some manners, but turns out I was right about you all along.”
Natalie nodded like she just heard something interesting, “Oh, what do you know about me? I would really love to know.”
“You are a two-faced bitch, and I am going to teach you a lesson,” Judy said.
She already had a cup of hot coffee in her hands. Today, she was going to ruin the face that only knew how to seduce men, then she was going to see how Natalie would continue with her vile behavior.
She raised her hand, and just as she was about to pour the coffee on her, Jason jumped from his chair and stood in front of Natalie. The hot coffee landed on his chest, and some splashed on his neck, making him groan in pain.
Everyone in the canteen was stunned, including Judy. She never imagined that Jason would risk his life just to save this bitch.
People rushed over and held Judy down, “Judy, are you out of your mind? Just because the hospital director is your uncle, do you really think that you can do as you please?”
“Let me go, I am going to teach that slut a lesson. She has no manners.”
While all this was happening, Natalie had an indifferent expression on her face. She did not even flinch at the fact that Jason had saved her, because in her mind, Jason had staged everything.
Nurse Tina rushed over and held her hand, “Dr. Hart, are you alright? Did you get hurt?”
“I am fine,” Natalie said as she stood up.
Seeing that she was about to leave, Jason gritted his teeth and called her out, “Natalie…”
Natalie had no intentions of saying anything, but why would she keep quiet?
“Jason, I never knew that you would stoop this low. You can stop putting on an act now, since your mission has been achieved.”
Jason frowned, not understanding what Natalie was talking about, “What are you saying? How am I putting on an act?”
