Chapter 70 chapter 70
Chapter 70
Outside the private room…
Seeing Sean standing outside like a security guard, Vivian walked over with a mocking grin.
“Look at you, the job of a security guard fits you perfectly.”
Sean was doing something on his phone, so he completely ignored her, but Vivian was not going to let him go.
“Back then, I actually thought that you could amount to something, but breaking up with you was the best decision I have ever made.”
Sean picked his ears as he spoke, “This is a top-notch hotel. Why is a fly buzzing around all of a sudden?”
Vivian’s expression changed. “Sean, are you out of your mind? Did you just call me a fly?”
“What? You are making noise and disturbing the hotel’s ambiance. Maybe I should just get the security to throw you out.”
“You wouldn’t dare,” Vivian said.
“And why shouldn’t I? After all, this hotel is mine.”
“Hahaha.” Vivian laughed out loud like she just heard the funniest joke.
“You, the owner of this hotel? Then I own the entire Sterling City.”
“Believe whatever you want, woman.”
“Sean, snap out of it. We are the only ones here, so you don’t have to put up an act. Does Natalie even know how poor you are? Does she know that you were an unwanted bastard who was brought up by a whore.”
The moment Vivian finished speaking, a tight slap landed on her cheeks, and she fell down in an embarrassing posture.
“I don’t really hit women, but you are not even human to begin with,” Sean said as he blew air on his palm that had almost gone numb.
“Ouch! What sturdy face you have there.” He said as he bent down and held Vivian by the chin. Tears were already cascading down her cheeks, and her face was slightly swollen.
Sean’s eyes turned extremely cold, and Vivian felt unexplainable fear in her heart. With a voice that could freeze one to death, Sean spoke, “Say one more word about my mother, and I will bury you alive.”
Seeing the look in his eyes, Vivian’s heart trembled. She had never seen this side of Sean, and it scared her to the core.
Sean let go of her face and wiped his hands like he just touched something dirty.
Vivian’s heart thumped hard in her chest. Although she had just been slapped and she must be throwing a tantrum, fear drummed in her heart, and she could not utter a single word.
“Sean, you, when did you become like this?”
“Don’t ever mess with me because you won’t be able to deal with the consequences,” Sean warned in a cold voice before he continued with what he was doing on his phone.
Inside the private room…
Tyron looked at his daughter and realized that she looked like a total stranger to him. She had changed so much over the course of years that he could barely recognize her.
“Natalie, what happened to you? What happened to our family?”
Natalie looked at her father, and not a single emotion flickered in her eyes. It was like she had already given up on the man sitting opposite him.
“I should be asking you the exact same question. You know the main reason I left Sterling City, but I never thought that the next time I come back, it would be to bury my mom instead of reuniting with my family.”
“Your mom’s death was an accident, and I miss her every single day. I just wish that things had turned out differently.”
“Are you sure about that? Did mom really die from an accident?”
“Of course, honey.”
“Then, why didn’t you bring the person who caused the accident to justice. Back then, I just wanted closure, but you refused to reopen my mom’s case. You did not care whether her soul would rest in peace, and all you cared about was your other family.”
“Vivian and her mother have nothing to do with this. We are not God, so we would have known about the accident. You are venting your anger on the wrong people.”
Natalie laughed self-depreciatingly, “See how you speak up for them. You must really love them to bits.”
“Natalie, I… that is not what I meant. It is just that Vivian and her mother have suffered so much, and I honestly had no idea that they existed. Everything happened so fast, and there was nothing I could do.”
Hearing how righteously her father defended Vivian and her mother, Natalie looked at her favorite steak and suddenly lost her appetite.
What kind of pain had her mother endured? How did she feel seeing the man she had loved all her life stand up for another woman?
Her heart must have been broken to pieces seeing the love of her life embrace another woman.
Natalie was starting to get emotional just at the thought of what her mother had been through. She took a deep breath before she asked, “Why did you want to meet me?”
“Natalie, it is not that we did not want to tell you, but we just couldn’t find the courage to do it. Your mother was also worried that you might overthink, which was why she never said anything.”
“Just stop right there. What you did is unforgivable, and the fact that you watched the woman you claimed to love die right in front of you, you deserve to rot in hell.”
“If you are here for your license, then I am afraid I won’t be of much help. You will have to wait until you are proven that you had nothing to do with mom’s death, only then can you have everything back.”
“Natalie, I am your father. Are you really bent on destroying me? You know how hard I worked to reach where I am today. Do you have the heart to watch it all go down the drain?”
“The only thing I care about is getting my mom justice, and since you are a prime suspect, you will just have to do what the law requires of you. If you are proven innocent, I will help you build yourself up. After all, I married the most powerful man in the world.”
“Natalie, can you really watch your father lose everything? What will you gain by doing that? It is not like it will bring your mom back to life.”
Natalie stood up and slapped the table hard, “Mr. Hart, mind your words.”
