Having been embarrassed by Natalie, Jason dragged Vivian inside the hotel.
“Stop it now. Haven’t you already embarrassed yourself enough?”
“But babe, she just insulted me, so how could I let her off?”
“They don’t have an invitation, so they are the ones embarrassing themselves. You're aware of the significance of today to our company. Let us go in so that we don’t embarrass ourselves in front of the Boardroom Beast.”
Vivian looked at Natalie and gave her the middle finger before following Jason to the hotel.
Soon after, Sean’s assistant came over. He was sweating profusely, an indication that he had rushed over.
He walked over to Sean and handed him the invitation cards, “I am sorry, boss. I did not know that something like this would happen.”
“It is okay, Colin,” Sean said. He seemed to be in a good mood, because there was no ounce of displeasure on his face, although he had waited outside for a long time.
It was Colin’s first-time meeting Natalie, and he had to admit, his boss had extraordinary taste. This woman could rival all the A-list celebrities in the entertainment industry.
Realizing that his assistant was looking at his wife longer than he was supposed to, Sean cleared his throat. His voice dropped a few degrees in temperature as he said, “Do you want your eyes gauged out? I can help you with that.”
Colin came back to his senses and covered his eyes. He never expected that his boss would be the jealous type. He had only stared at Natalie for thirty seconds, and his boss was already feeling insecure.
“Boss, uhm, sorry. This way, please, everyone is waiting.”
He then looked at the security guard and ordered, “As for you, you are fired.”
The security guard’s face turned white, and his legs trembled.
“I am so sorry, boss, I should not have done what I did. Please, I can’t lose this job. My wife would be due in a few days, and I also have elderly parents to look after.”
“You…” Colin was about to say something, but Sean stopped him.
He looked at the security guard and spoke, “It is okay, you can keep your job, but there won’t be a next time, got it?”
“Thank you, thank you so much, boss.” The security guard wanted nothing more than to bow and worship Sean.
“It is not really your fault. You were just doing your job.”
Sean held Natalie’s hand and walked towards the hotel. A lot of businessmen had already arrived, and the hall was buzzing with the voices of people trying to make connections.
“Colin, you are the boss from now on. I am not going to reveal my identity tonight.”
“What?” Colin was stunned, and he thought that he was hearing things.
He looked at Sean with wide eyes before he pointed at himself with a shaky finger, “Boss, you want me to be the Boardroom Beast? Like you want me to be you?”
Sean looked at his assistant and shook his head. “Why are you getting so worked up? It is just a title, nothing more.”
Colin could not believe it. He could not help but scream in his mind, ‘Boss, it might just be a title to you, but you know the weight it carries in the business world? How could I joke about something like that?’
“Boss, I… I don’t think that I can do it. Everyone is dying to finally meet you tonight. Would it be a good idea for you to continue hiding yourself like this?”
“Stop asking questions and just do what you are told, okay. Not a lot of people know my real identity anyway. So, in this gala, you would be the Boardroom Beast whom everyone fears and looks up to.”
Colin looked at his boss, and he could not understand what was going on in his head. He was the one who said that he wanted to go public, but when the time came, he bailed out. Just what was wrong with him?
“Boss, uhm…”
“You can get out of my sight if you can’t do it.” Sean directly said.
Natalie looked at him and frowned. Sean was always gentle and understanding. She had never seen this side of him before.
“Honey, be nice, okay.”
Sean instantly switched from the domineering CEO to a loving husband in a matter of seconds. He stared at Natalie and apologized, “Sorry, I lost my cool just now. It has been a while since I played the role of the CEO, and I am still getting the hang of it.”
Natalie looked at Colin and spoke, “Uhm, we have not been properly introduced yet. I am Natalie.”
Colin was flattered. When he looked at her earlier for only thirty seconds, his boss wanted to gouge his eyes out. If he shook her hand, won’t he lose his in return?
“Haha, Lady Boss, you don’t have to do that. I am Colin, and he is my boss.”
Seeing his wife’s hand awkwardly hung in the air, Sean frowned.
He stepped on Colin’s leg and whispered, “If you don’t shake her hand, I am going to cut yours off.”
“Boss…”
After the introduction, Natalie said, “Colin, I am the one who told him not to reveal his identity just yet, but because we don’t want to disappoint everyone, you will just have to play along for a while.”
“Ah, so it is like that. I got it.”
“Good.” Natalie nodded. She looked at Sean and continued, “I will ask him to increase your salary. How about that?”
“Lady boss, that won’t be necessary.”
How could Colin ask for a pay rise? He did not want to lose his head.

Apart from the earlier scuffle at the gate, the rest of the gala went well.
The Boardroom Beast gave out a ten-billion-dollar investment, and only a few companies were selected.
Despite being among the best companies in the city, the Thompson group did not get a chance. Jason left the gala feeling as if he was about to lose his life.
Ever since the day he lost his products, nothing had been going well for him. And now that he could not even secure an investment with the Boardroom Beast, the company shareholders were demanding answers, and he was under a lot of pressure.
